    I'm going to be retiring in about 6 years, and it looks like Merida will be the place for me! I'm in Vancouver Canada, and a 700sq ft. condo is $650,000 here, and it rains 8 months of the year. So sick of it.

    You moved there to be closer to David's family, which is admirable, but the heat and humidity can be brutal and once realizing this, many people reconsider why they moved there. There are plenty of other places in Mexico that are much more affordable and close to just as safe and you are able spend your days outside instead of generating a huge electric bill by sitting inside all day just to be in the a/c. Being rated as the second safest city in the whole of North America is what seems to draw people there and that would hard to beat anywhere else the world. Quality of life is vastly overlooked when people decide to move to Merida solely on this statistic. I live about a two and a half hour drive south from what has been called one of the best climates in the world to live in. I live like a Rey two miles from the beach for what is generally under $1100us total expenditures per month and feel safer here than I did anywhere else in the US. Buena suerte!

      Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! It sounds like you've found a pretty sweet spot near the beach. Living like a Rey on a budget, that's the dream!
      Megan and Myself (David), moved to Merida after doing extensive research about different international options when we were working remotely. We chose Merida as it offers an affordable lifestyle and way better weather compared to where we were before in Calgary Canada. My family being here was a nice addition but not a decision-maker for us.
      Each place offers unique advantages and disadvantages. The goal of our channel is to give a full idea of what it is like to live in Merida Mexico.
      Because of our business, we work with clients relocating to Merida and there are many other reasons than just safety.
      Buena suerte to you too!

    Hi, I am living in Florida for more than 20 years and looking to move away of US within 5 years. I started to check possible places and Mexico is one of them so far. I got answers for the good and bad for Mexico. For the Good are: People, Weather, Language, Culture, Food, etc. For the Bad are: Streets with no trees, Costly homes comparing with typical US houses, Small lots, Boring Arquitecture (house made of boxes), with funny - joke swimming pools. Merida has depriment street landscaping. Are there better cities in Mexico?

    • @yucatanrealestategroup
      @yucatanrealestategroup  Před 8 měsíci

      Thank you for your comment. Merida Centro indeed lacks landscaping but that is not the same in the North. In Merida, we have great private communities keeping as much as they can of the original nature in those areas and adding lots of additional landscaping. Good examples of these developments are Cumbres Novonorte, Tamara, and Parque Natura among others.
      Other cities of Mexico might offer more diverse architecture but depending on your budget we have lots of AMAZING local and international architects that have designed and will continue to design beautiful homes in Merida.
      Please let me know if you would like more information about Merida or any other city in Mexico!
