    How has no one in the YT history up until now been able to come up with this sentence “place it good sides together with the coil facing away from the edge”
    I have been trying to learn this for so long and this is the clearest explanation yet!

      Except I'm confused what "good sides" are. Everyone else in the world uses right sides and wrong sides. But it's very clear and fast and you rock!

    I’m so happy I found this video! I have a dress I got from a thrift store that is absolutely gorgeous! I got about 3 good wears out of it before the zipper broke at an event 😅 ( luckily I was with my boyfriend and he gave me his jacket) anyways a lot of tailors want to charge $40-80 to replace the zipper which is absurd to me! For that price I can just get a new dress!

    • @freemovementsewing
      @freemovementsewing  Před 3 měsíci +1

      or you could sew a new dress! (: xx

      Fixing something like that usually takes longer than sewing from scratch. .. It's all about time. Time yourself when you unpick and replace the zip and you will see what I mean....

    Hi, was just wondering why we have to press the zipper with the iron first. Im a beginner 🙏

    • @desireeretiree
      @desireeretiree Před měsícem

      Instructions usually say not to, as you can melt the coil. It does make it much easier to install though, lol! It helps flatten the coil, just use a warm, not hot iron, and don't put too much pressure on it.

  • @crescentstaar
    @crescentstaar Před 2 měsíci

    Since the zipper pulls at the fabric when closed, do I need to add to the length of the fabric so it doesn't end up shorter?

    • @desireeretiree
      @desireeretiree Před měsícem

      No, just hold it firmly and don't have the the tension too tight.

  • @ohno1572
    @ohno1572 Před rokem +1

    I have tried this 4 times today and when I zip closed it’s still visible like “hi m0th3rfuk3r!” Apparently I suck at sewing.
