-no dual layer functionality
-no performance pads
-no internal track analysis
-no cross platform support
-no inbuilt HD option
-no internal WiFi
-requires laptop for streaming
-no loop encoder
-no multitouch touch screen
-no track buffering (power failure)
-no reserve power (power failure)
-small single function hot cues located in horrible position
-only 1 USB port and its only 1amp
-no SDXC support (
Some of these things are wishful thinking but I think Pioneer DJ has only added and changed what they needed to. The two things I'm curious to try myself are whether the new MPU affects Master Tempo/Key Shift quality over Rekordbox DJ and jog wheel performance.
I feel like the changes they made appeal more to festivals, clubs & hire companies eg. brighter screen for festivals, improved cue/play. Realistically, this is their real market and that won't change since CDJs are fairly indestructible.
Good list ;-)
And 100% true. Even if they fix 2-3 of these, or people don'T need 2-3 of these, it still remains a list of shame, considering the hefty price.
- the dual layer is just useless
- no one out there use slicer and other shit
- this is what the free and convenient rekordbox is for
- it will have rekordbox and serato support
- a what?
- it might have, just don’t enabled, and just use non wireless media, it’s a lot safer.
- it can be added
- no one need it, you don’t play pubg in these
- it can be changed.
- the “reserve power” on denons NOT A FEATURE it’s just a failsafe for the system so the os don’t die when the power is out.
- they are double function, you can save loops also. (And there is no right or bad position)
- and what about the sd? And the usb on the back? And the pro dj link?
- who use it?
- you make the worlds biggest problem of the nameing if the deck 🙄🔫
- cdj never had motorized shit, and dj’s don’t miss it, and if you want spinninf decks, use real turntables.
- and they keep their value a lot better.
And just say, denon is full of gimmicks, that no one use, this is all what you need for a good set, functions don’t replaces creativity
Yep, Denon dj wins this on all levels 👌🏻
*Am i the only one who prefers the old style of the CDJ jog indicator?*
*There should be an option to choose which jog display you want.*
Agreed bro
It would be cool if the LCD allowed you to emulate the old display.
I'm missing that on the DDJ 1000, too
Lets not forget, the quick loading time for the track :D
Damn thoes 3-4 second loading times were harsh on the older models
Ok yeah cool but when are CDJ’s gonna have battle royale?
On my stream, I mentioned how the MPU processors are the same as on my phone but will it run Fortnite tho
If I can’t get a W on Fort on a CDJ-3000 then wtf am I buying it for honestly
I think I've made my peace with why the CDJ-3000 has/hasn't got certain features. The features it's got, are realistically all it needs to be an upgrade from the CDJ-2000NXS2. However, I might make a video about what I'd add to the CDJ-3000 if it were up to me.
Are you gonna come to the dennon side, it's lovely here they actually listen to what we say, the grass is greener
You hit the nail on the head there mate. I feel like they did the bare minimum for a generational upgrade, and until companies like denon start posing a genuine financial threat I can't see pioneer really going all out.
@@LyK0sa Denon is the way to go, more for less. Sc6000 are the best!
@@d.holland209 if I was looking to get a separate player/mixer setup I'd be looking at the denon gear for sure, but for now I'm happy with my XDJ RX2, an Sc6000 + X1850 setup might be relatively cheap compared to pioneer's equivalent but 3.5 grand is still a lot of money. The prime 2 kinda misses the mark for me since it can't take line and phono inputs, which is a feature of the RX2 that I've been quite grateful for, although for a lot of people that wouldn't be an issue.
@@LyK0sa I truly understand. It's all about preference and what make you happy. Happy DJing to ya.
Love the commentary! the key shift was impressive, but yeah I do want to see something revolutionary from pioneer at this point. 8 cue points were necessary and I think All DJ roads go through pioneer so with them goes any evolution or revolution. Really feeding features to their cdjs to motivate people to pick up their mixers too. One gripe, the cue placement. With them being in the middle of the action, will one ever instinctively move their hands to the cue points without looking not to press something else accidentally? We will see. I do it with the XDJ RX2, preview all 8 cue points in less than 5 seconds for the perfect one with ease, makes picking the cue more instinctive than technical.
that's the best review on youtube. Massive thumb up for honest opinion. I have the same thoughts about it. Good job DJ Ravine :)

I couldn't agree more with you bro, you were bang on 😁
Ravine, I can’t wait for you to actually try the new design on the jog wheel.
Hey Ravine, i agree when you say about Pionner is playing safe and not taking risk... but i was expecting a motor plate and a dual layer... you can get, paying less, for a Denon for all those stuff...
Dope review! Agree on next level features being able to isolate out vocals, drums, etc would offer tremendous range for creativity and live production mixing. That would make these worth it for me.

Thumps up for the honest opinion 👌 thats what i think too, that ddj rzx but in three parts is expensive for no any innovation reason. Denon just killed it in every feature. The end of the video made me laugh 😆.

Can someone explain the dual layer trick at 11:45-11:55? I thought when you change the channel of the roll, it's going to mimic the new channel sound that it's on, not carry over the sound.
No matter how or why, without double audio-out ports dual layer is basically impossible.
Cool vid man
Do these devices have some grossbeat style functionality? Its the reason i still use old deckadance for the rare times i mix
i think you can indeed do more things with a dj console, for effects etc. you can also add effects like some kind of auto cut which can work like fader which goed open and cloed real fast as an automated effect which can make some nice effects for trans or electro music i think, but honestly i think if you hook a pc up to your dj consoles anyway you can always just use all the effects in a specific software
ahahahaHAHAAHAHAHAHAH the end is the best xD and all other comments, you are crazy mate xD !!!!!!!!!!!!!
That ending tho😂😂
Best thing about this new model is hopefully a decent bump down in the Ebay pricing of NXS2, Nexus and even CDJ-2000s. These things really hold their value!
now theres gonna be the argument of whether or not it is "real djing" when using stacked waveforms hahaha
At the very least, I am glad that they've upgraded the wave form where you can see 3 bands. I'm on the xdj-700's now and it just kills me that I can't see it in its true form. I've bee spoiled by rekordbox in that sense. But then again, it has forced me to trust my ears more and not rely on my eyes. I've definitely noticed that when I trust my ears, they never let me down as opposed to my eyes.
What feature would you have wished they added?
I'm a pioneer fan boy . I have had almost all of the gear they have made and I feel this is a big let down . Iv never used any denon gear in till a few weeka ago and I have to say they are way a head of pioneer. There new sc6000 are years a head of pioneer . You should really look at testing them out . I think you would like them . Look forward to see if you do a review on them 😀
Hey Ravine! What keyboard do you use? I love the sound
hey man was hoping you could help me.
All my tracks are analysed in rekordbox using the camalot style key. After I export it all if I put in my 900nexus player or even the 2000s it shows the alphanumeric (camalot) key.
But when i put it in my new cdj3000 i dont get the key in that format.
but have seen in review videos of it showing the camalot key?
The vocal beat and instrument separation I believe is a new feature in the latest version of virtual Dj. They tie it to your eq knobs
not necessarily, you can choose. i've mapped them to the outer EQ knobs on my DDJ-1000 in a way that lets me handle EQ and stems properly for all 4 decks.
Yea... I sold my NXS’s and DJM2000, a few months ago knowing that they would bring out a new system. Not what I was hoping for, I’ll still buy them. Just think they could have been better.
i like a motor for mixing and currently i have old mk3 pioneers and i miss a spinning platter so im getting the new mk2 Rane twelves. Its strange that a guy that started on turntables and is a great scratcher prefers static jogs but to each their own.
You'll be surprised by how many DJ play wav./flac/aiff. Huge difference in sound when you compare it to an MP3 when played by club speakers
This has made my mind up denon all the way but one question mixers should I get pioneer or denon mixer
Allen and heath if your a techno dj. Other than that pioneer would do the job
NOT Denon.. Build is flimsy.
I think the comment ‘evolutionary, not revolutionary’ sums it up best.
You can use stems on Denons with virtual DJ integration
You missed the big one for me: it plays FLAC now. YAY!
James Hype's next routine = all decks cued to "You can kinda do like a slow, very slow Mexican Wave."
@5:20 i see youre a man of good taste
I really wish you added the phrase "another thing Denon has been doing" to all their "new upgrades" the name the 15 more thing Denon is doing so people can expect what to see in the CDJ4000 lmao.
On audio, my CD and vinyl rips are wav. Beatport purchases are also wav. At every DJ changeover the sound quality difference is noticeable.
CD quality rips and vinyl rips are not going to benefit from the improved sound as the sample rates are way too low to be affected
virtual dj also has the new EQ algorithms . also have bleed % which i don't think the other platform has not sure.
Virtual DJ software does the stems thing ... its not Rekordbox obviously, but does much of the same from what my short xp - lemme know if Im wrong, keen to learn
@DJ Ravine festivals do not purchase cdj's. Production houses do, but in the last few years Australian production houses have limited their investment, only holding the bear minimum amount of stock. Clubs in Australia are still running mostly legacy NX1 series, and even 2000 series. venues were already under considerable stress before covid. owners, managers and stakeholder's do not see the value in upgrading. international acts are lees and less common as these acts are priced out of the club market, and a reduction in the number of tours and festivals in Australia mean there is less demand. clubs and venues used to have good relationships with production houses, however this has changed in the last 6 years, with venues opting to save money and take care of production in house.
this means that the same rental companies who provide players to the festival market, are now no longer getting bookings to hire from venues, and less and less festivals are booking units, less often.
There is also an interesting trend occurring where we are seeing units from the US and Europe priced up to 25% lower then in Australia, even after conversion and import taxes are applied. This means that an arbitrary opportunity exists for people who want to own the gear, but cant afford to purchase it, as they can simply order from people over seas, potentially saving themselves up to $1,000 AUD.
Pre-Covid, Australian production houses started to see a spike in requests for Dennon players, which was a reflection of more touring artists having them on their riders. These units were much cheaper to purchase, and from a technical point of view, head everyone talking. The sentiment amongst professionals is changing. Fewer and fewer Australian Dj's are being exposed to pioneers flagship units (unless they are legacy). Overall i am actually concerned that pioneer Australia has started to misunderstand the Australian market. i feel that pricing model in the Australian market IS NO LONGER VIABLE, and i am concerned that this release will sell even more poorly than the NXS 2 series in Australia.
If this product really was made for large clubs, festivals and professionals, why doesn't it have EtherCon , or PowerCon? Why Doesnt it have build in Network distrobution? Why, after 30 years does it not use locking audio connectors such as XLR, or at a minumum coaxial or fiber? The reaons is because its heart, still a consumer product, but it is being marketed as a Pro Products. Just like apples MBP.
The releases are comming more often, and are priced higher than the local market is able willing to pay., and unfortunately it also comes at a time then the businesses that are its target consumer are not in a potion to buy them, use them. and they wont be for the next 3 years minimum.
I am aware that licencing fees apply to the use of in patent connectors and technology. I am aware that the development and manufacturing of custom chips is extremely costly. And well aware of the fact that the units are sold on a minimum markup of 60% of cost price to retailers. This is all normal. What isnt normal is for a company to ignore market demand, and instead tell the market that they dont need what they are asking for.
if Pioneer do not seriously address the demands of the very market they serve, and start to reintroduce the flagship to all customers, at a realistic price point, they are going to end up in a similar position as wework.
Remember, it was the amalgamation of affordability, innovation and the needs of regular DJ's that got the company and its products where they are today.
To come to market with a sales pitch that is basically ("this product isn't what you want, its not for you, and its good because we are the market leaders"), is very sobering sign that all is not good at pioneer HQ.
I hope dearly that pioneer learns a valuable lesson here, and identifies the loss of market share and huge reduction in sales globally for what it is.
An opportunity to do an NVIDIA in a few years, IF they still have the market share by then to develop that.
Hi Hicksy. I agree with your sentiment. In my live stream, I brought out a powercon cable and questioned why it didn’t use it. There are definitely a lot of questionable decisions but I feel like they stuck to their schedule for release instead of delayed it as we all know, no production house or club has the funds to purchase this right now.
In the end of the day, the people will decide whether they will buy it. I hope to see it at Masif the next time I play.
@@DjRavine "in the end the people will decide" that's what I'm afraid of mate.. I'd hate to see PDJ lose its marlet vale, especially due to something so critical like a misunderstanding of market demand.

Funny when you mention new features for decks like the ability to take away the drums, take away the synths, take away the vocals.. STEMS do that on the Traktor D2 decks or the S5 & S8 controllers but the format didn't take off.
Yeah because tracks had to exported in that format in order to use it. With djay pro AI, it can split it from a normal MP3/WAV
@@DjRavine I can't imagine that will sound too good especially when doing it on lossy tracks

@@jsnmdrs I have a Pioneer DDJ-T1 and 2x Traktor D2s. Can play STEMS (there are plenty on beatport), Remix Decks and of course normal tracks. New gear is cool but unless money is thrown at you little reason to get this kind of pro touring gear for the price of a second hand car.
Good video, mate. Very dissapointed in what they have done
6 waveforms on one screen 🤣🏄🏻♀️🌀 I like the more durable cue/play buttons and larger screen... extra hot cues and key shift cool but not terribly exciting. Definitely see only big clubs and festivals switching over (and the wanna be djs with copious amounts of cash who just want to look cool to all their friends)... that of course is going to be a much slower timeline and possibly less adoption than what pioneer hoped for when they designed this thing given corona and lower budgets.
I don't think I've ever even used record box. I never look at the weveforms lmao

Ravine: "He is fingering that button" lol.
I like this guy ahahaha
I love how everyone keep saying this clubs and festival market thing when there is no club or festival market right now and probably for at least another year, and even then are they wanting to spend extra money on gear they do not really need? Will be an interesting situation as they might not even shift that many units in the next couple of years as long as Corona is around.
What Pioneer should have done is to replace the SD slot with USB-C. Also, coming from the festival scene if they say the Pioneer 3000 is more for production companies then how strong is the screen when it comes to sitting in the sun for 6 hours? I feel Pioneer rushed the release. What should have been done was to ask the production houses what would be the change in the game, not more buttons and a bigger screen but more along the lines of functionality and durability........ Well if the V10 is anything to go on I'm worried about the future of tech riders. For example, an isolator for the master on the V10 what about if they bring out a full sound management DSP built into the front of their next mixer so that the DJ can control the full rig and just blast the crowd away ?? "if you, not redlining you not headlining" The biggest problem is DJ's who do that and don't trust the engineering staff to control the gain structure. That's my 10 cents........
hot cues in perfect position to accidentally f up something with the jogwheel 🤦♂️
5:20 Hey it's me guys Video Game Dunkey!
Steven Teijeiro its a dizasta
Denon dj is one step ahead.😎
So true with the Hotcues. Why would you place them up there between everything instead of at the bottom where there is enough space for your hands?????
Lots of djs place their hands down there, when beatmatching, or adjust the pitch. I know some of you it’s really weird cuz your best friend is the sync button, but a lot of djs still love to do what is mixing all about, and they rest their hands down there like 20 years, so this is why there are no cue bottons there.
@@benceujvari960 yeah might be a reason, but i didn't touch the sync button for the last 10 years and still think that it could be better for hot cue performances to place them more accessible...
Attix but a lot of djs who play since the cdj 1000 they don’t want big changes around the bottom, where you find everything even if your eyes is closed.
There was extensive research done with 200 artists about the hot cue location. It was found that being away from where they rest their hand, and being closer to where they used to be located from the upper left was preferred. Being above the jog wheel prevents from accidental trigger, and it serves as an extension to the touch display. You have to think, unlike a controller's deck, these are meant to be used in 4 or 6 configurations. Reaching that wide increases the risk of getting touched if they are below the jog. It's far more dramatic accidentally touching the hot cue than it is, accidentally touching the jog. Also, it's distanced enough that your palm or wrist doesn't touch the jog.
Damn bro SIX CDJ'S?😂😵💫
SC6000M run tings!!
i didn't realise Eminem was so good on the decks
But, will it blend?
noob: my question is: if they updated the players, why didn’t they update the mixer too? isn’t djm 900 nxs 2 kinda old?
Pioneer screwed up and not introducing a mixer specifically tailored to the DJs 1000. If pioneer were halfway smart they would take that form factor and interface and make hybrid synthesizers and drum machines. It would look awesome to have a synthesizer drum machine a sampler and a CDJ all connected in that block form.
Very weird comment. "High def audio is fine I guess but most play MP3s"? I always played wav and aiff in a club... for fck sake the only thing you have to do is to show up to work with the best sound possible. High def audio is not like a cool bonus option.
14:30 Some say the wave is still going on to this day

Like Blackberry Every company gets knocked off there throne sooner or later buy being complacent. Also by taking a ravel to lightly. InMusic isn't here to mess around, InMusic you can see by the company name didn't just by Denon, Rane, Akai, Numark to play around. They plan to be compelling by spending a lot in R&D and by listening to there Market. They have a lot of patents by buying all these companies. What they are doing with Denon and Rane is just the begining. While Pioneers New parent Company fully intends to make 3 or 4 time their initial 600 million dollare investment back. They don't intend to make that money back over a long period by investing tens of millions more in R&D. They intend to make that money back buy selling piles and piles of Controllers . They have been very successful @ that already. Why would Pioneers Parent Company really care about CD'js. They arent a music company, Noritsu Koki is a photo processing Company. Pioneer DJ was an investment for them. They have no intention of spending a bunch of money going to battle with InMusic. There Formula is already working, sell tons of controllers, theres nothing wrong with that. Controllers are now there bread and butter. Why would you wait till now to try and sell 8 grand of gear (2 decks and mixer) to closed bars and clubs. Some Clubs on the verge of closing permanently. Buying new Gear is the last thing on these club owners minds. Pioneer is is right tho, the plan they are fallowing is rights on trend. Before the pandemic even started, I see more and more dj's walking into the clubs that I'm res dj with their own controllers. They prefer to play on there own DDJ than to play on the CDJ that is there. So This leaves InMusic an opening to come in @ a lower price point with new innovations with Denon and Rane. who knows what they will do next with the other Music Companies they own. There are Rumors InMusic is talking about purchasing Traktor or all of Native instruments not sure witch one. Anyways I think the new CDJ3000 is just and example that Pioneer knows the easier more profitable market share and they intend to get paid now not later. InMusic can't use that same plan. InMusic is establishing them selves as a more advanced more innovated and more affordable brand thats what they have to do. InMusic is ready for a long bloody expensive fight, Pioneer is not, there is low hanging fruit and if they can transform more than half the market to controllers then it's still a win for them and they are already winning there. I've done alot of research I work in tech I'm a tech Junky and I love both Companies products up until now. I like the CDJ3000 but I don't love it, if it had the DDJ layout with more Denon features I would've loved it. I my self seem to be converting to a controller and am considering all Rane Components for my next stand alone units but I will fallow the SC6000 and see if my mind can be changed in the next few months. I'm not buying anything except a new controller tho until my Dj buisness is back to normal.
You should do a techno mix
6:27 tf you mean, that's chad status
“I told pioneer to do da da da” but why didn’t you get a trial kit from pioneer?
you say about change that "pioneer doenst need it" well this the user will decide - and if Denon can catch up to Rekordbox within 1-2 years the future doesnt look that bright for pioneer...
13:02 ... re: isolating drums, synth's etc ... Traktor was on this years back ... check out Stems on the S8! Agreed though would be a killer feature to implement on a cdj.
Virtual DJ has their own version of AI effecrs.
👍🏾
Aye mom im on the tv
You looped yourself out..😊
Honestly, it's not so bad in my eyes but they really could have moved the hot cues beneath the jogwheel
I actually prefer up top. I don’t like the controller way. I’m used to Technics and then CDJs and when I’m pitch bending or beat matching my hand rests around the bottom of the player. With controllers I could never play that way because I’ll be pressing all kinds of stuff I don’t want to press. I also like the way the hot cue can be used hand-in-hand with the slip loops on the touchscreen ... it makes sense that the hot cues are kind of an extension of the screen
14:45 this is the face of a man regretting his decision
Dj city in Melbourne are selling them for $3,999 each
What a joke
Most clubs lease their gear.
This was their excuse for not implementing dual layer. As a PDJ fan, I'm pretty disappointed in this new player. Probably gonna hold onto my XDJ700s longer.
"When developing the CDJ-3000, we found that dual-layer functionality can compromise sound quality and drain MPU resource that's needed for other tasks. We interviewed over 200 artists during our research for our latest player, which resulted in a conclusion determining that this feature is not essential for professional use. The Pioneer DJ Team."
If they have a shitty MPU and are using surplus components (which seems the case for most of the player looking at the only 4 beat emergency loop buffer or only 32Gb SDXC reader which might as well be a 2010 part) yes, it surely can compromise it lol. Or the resistive display which seems like an unused component from cheap 2015 tablets.
@@1312_PV they use surplus components on pretty much all of their DJ line. I've been repairing a DJM-800 and other various CDJ/XDJs and alot of the "official Pioneer parts" are ridiculously triple to the cost of what the manufactured items they buy from is. I'm over them but unfortunately, im not in the position to switch out yet.
@@BryantFC Ugh, they are indeed dropping the ball hard using tech that could be on CDJ-1000s in their 3000s with the SD slot, and at a huge cost. They have a big name and I bet they have great designs waiting for production when Denon is close. For now I'm certain that the CDJ-3000 is quite cheaper to produce now that the CDJ-2000 Nexus when they were out, given that the tech has not improved much. Definitely not five years. Yet it's more expensive. They will do this as long as the market will take it. No reason to change.
Btw I should have a pair next week.
2000's better drop prices
