    I have several bows and use both. Over time I've had more trouble with Drop-aways (springs break, activation chords breaking-that kind of stuff). The Whisker Biscuit is extremely accurate, but for target shooting a lot of arrows it can be harder on fletching. You also can't beat a Whisker Biscuit for simplicity and Arrow Capture.

    The difference under 40 yards between the two can't even be measured because the arrow hits it's target in 1/2 a second (120') so if an average bow is shooting around 250', there's practically zero time for a deer to react. By the time it hears the string, something's gone through it already. So whoever can't take a deer with a whisker biscuit, trust me, it's not their bow that's wrong. Oh yeah, and whisker biscuits are quieter, don't require tuning and accuracy-wise, up to 40 yards, there is no difference.

    • @bugs825
      @bugs825 Před měsícem

      Human reaction time is 2/10 of a second. Giving a pray animal over twice that time will absolutely result in a movement before impact. The sound of the fletchings hitting the whiskers is what I'm trying to eliminate.

    • @YankeeWoodcraft
      @YankeeWoodcraft Před měsícem

      @bugs825 As opposed to the sound of a drop away rest clicking when it drops or when the arrow bounces on the plastic?
      No deer is going to hear the sound of a whiskey biscuit 60 feet away in the wildness with all the birds singing and the squirrels running around and the wind in their ears.
      I've never heard of that happening unless someone was shooting with a poorly tuned bow where the shaft wasn't flying straight and that's going to be a miss anyway. That would be user error. 🙂

I put a drop away & hand to move the site back to the correct side of the riser. Tuned the bow, paper tuned it, still hitting targets from 20-60yds.

    I shoot whisker biscuit and been doing so since before drop away was popular in the hunting community. I am looking at getting vector custom arrows with four fletch but I’m worried about 4 vanes passing through. Any thoughts? I really want to try the three prong because I thought the point of the gap was to allow the vanes to pass through freely. Talked to a dealer and was told the arrow needs to be set to still pass the vanes through the bristles? Not sure?

    I’ve shot a whisker biscuit for years and it’s really not that hard on my fletching. You’ll probably shoot more fletching off than tearing off with the biscuit. Either way learn to fletch arrows! No excuse for not learning how to fletch and it shouldn’t be that big of a deal. Fletching your own arrow is rewarding.

    Whisker biscuit is an outstanding hunting rest...where "repeated precision " is not necessary. Like indoor spots, shooting a golf ball size x ring 60 times in a row....although in the hands of a good shooter the whisker biscuit would shock the hell out of you there too.. but it wasn't designed for that. Even a large number of pros don't shoot drop away rests either. They shoot blade style target rest and for good reason. Simplicity. Moving parts eventually equal headaches. Simplicity, when functional, is king for both hunters and target archers. Drop aways, fall aways, limb driven rests all bridge the gap, and certainly have advantages. Blade style target rests have the advantages of no moving parts...but still have arrow contact the entire time....and have been used to set uncountable world records. So is having no contact with the arrow rest (drop away) the holy grail? Uh...no. The whisker biscuit also has the advantage of having zero moving parts. It's the ultimate in reliability. If the shooter knows what he/she is doing, it's also more than consistent enough to deliberately, repeatedly and consistently put ethical, accurate well placed shots on a game animal at any reasonable range..determined by the skills of the shooter. If (for hunters) the whisker biscuit does everything it needs to...nothing it doesn't, and is the epitome of reliability....then what are we really looking to prove? Both styles are exceptional. Use the tool for the job.
