    “What Is A Power Rack?
    A power rack is a common piece of fitness equipment most often used for barbell exercises. Power racks, also known as “power cages” or “squat cages” consist of a steel cage that you stand in while exercising.
    These cages have horizontal safety bars that can be adjusted at varying heights to spot you during your workout.
    All commercial gyms have power racks, usually more than one.
    They are typically located wherever squatting is taking place. Although squatting is often associated with power racks, you can actually do several different exercises safely inside “

    What are you looking for in a power rack? Accessories, safety, cost, color? #homegym

    You nailed all the right things to think before buying. I took all of them into account, except space. I ordered the rack I wanted and then chose a size for my gym that would accommodate the rack. Another point though is accessories. Racks can be 2x3 or 3x3 and there are a lot more accessories for 3x3. Want to mix brands with accessories? Remember that 3x3 is not always 3x3. Rogue is 3x3, but Rep Fitness is just slightly less than 3x3 due to metric conversions. That could influence what brand accessories fit the rack, although I think they most might fit fine on Rep Fitness or Rogue racks.

      Great points on the accessories. WHat's your favorite accessory?

    Great video. I'm not sure why I'm just seeing it.
    Pre pandemic, I knew virtually nothing about home gyms. Luckily my half rack from dicks sporting goods worked out fine for the garage. With a leeky roof and no insulation and lots of gym equipment added to the garage it was cheaper and easier to put together my bad weather gym in the living room.
    Tip number 3 that you gave is in my opinion the most important tip (measure and lay it out w masking tape to see just how much space it takes up).
    During the pandemic, I got the cap 3x3 half rack for the living room. Despite all the positive reviews its crap! Now I'm shopping for an upgrade which is why your tip about not going cheap is also really important.

    I looked for a Rack for awhile but I wanted more functionality at least with the lat pulldown. Had a Weider560 but finally got an RFT rack since it has everything in one. Just wish it came in Red like yours 😁

      @@NoFate247 Price is certainly an issue right now. Out of all the times in my life I could have been doing this, I hate that I'm in the market for home gym stuff right now. I'm also torn on rack height. 90" or 100"? 100" or 90"? For some reason, I've convinced myself that 100" would be preferable, but overhead clearance would be pretty tight. My gym is/will be in my unfinished basement and I believe I could position the rack so that any attachments that might potentially be installed on top of the rack could be positioned between floor joists. Worst case, I should be able to hang a lot more clothes on a 100" rack.

  • @squealer42
    @squealer42 Před 2 lety +3

    30" depth is plenty of space inside the rack for me to workout.
    HOWEVER, I never accounted for carrying bars in and out from the front enroute to J-cups in the back. That's a pain in the arse / difficult to not ding the structure somewhere. From the sides is no better because my left to right space is limited and the safeties are typically in the way.
    41" depth would make that bar maneuvering much easier. Or a gymbro, but it's just me vs the garage.

    • @NoFate247
      @NoFate247  Před 2 lety +1

      I def. think 30' is plenty, but if you got the space and money, why not go 41 and have the space for the future.

    • @squealer42
      @squealer42 Před 2 lety +1

      @@NoFate247 Yeah, at the time, I didn't think I had the space, as i had some overhead complications where the globe-mount front pull-up bar would put my head, and the 30 gave me flexibility / wouldn't need to shrink to 80" uprights to be safe. After setting it all up, though, I see how a 93 x 41 could have just barely worked.
