I really wanna see this rereleased in the Alex Ross inspired deluxe line with: mirror lenses head, regular Romita head, unmasked head, Superior Ock upper torso, Shang Chi shoulders and arms with pegless joints, and maybe some new hips for extra range outward. I'd like to see fisted, thwipping, wall-crawling, and web gripping hands, web accessories, and a little loose mask for good measure. Double-pack it with a Ross inspired Green Goblin and I would literally die -Glen
Outstanding work, fellas. You truly gave the attention, care, and thoroughness that this figure deserved. Cheers. Also ... damn, y'all, I gotta have a second one now to recreate that nice Amazing Fantasy pose with Stan.

Can't wait! The main gripe are the pegs indeed, but such a great figure! Awesome review! And it's an honor to be featured here! Thank you for doing an awesome review and giving me some motivation!
Guys, this is the most well-edited action figure review I've ever seen, bar none! Take my word for it, I've seen a lot. It's like the production value is from a Vox video.
Please start doing more reviews on legends. This is by the far the most informative review I have seen. So much info and so many comparisons. I appreciate how you point out the flaws and with pics show how hasbro can improve. Keep the reviews coming.
Objectively, I think the Mafex Spider-Man is still better than this new Retro Spider-Man in pretty much every criteria applicable to action figures. However, subjectively this is EASILY my favorite Spider-Man figure. I just adore John Romita Sr.’s art on Spider-Man, so to see a figure take so many cues from his design really makes me happy!
There's nothing objective about "I think." Subjectively, there's a lot to like about both figures, but both still have room for improvement. Objectively, nothing can't be critiqued. On a personal basis, I much prefer this figure, for reasons like price tag, color scheme, and toe hinges. I fucking hate toe hinges, I've sold them off almost entirely from my collection. I get edgy done people like them, cuz they look better in action poses but I have a strong preference for stability in a vanilla pose. The fewer things I need on stands in my display, the happier I am. But all that is subjective. I prefer the physique silhouette on this figure too but that's SUPER subjective, it very much depends on which artist gave you "your" Spider-Man. My Spidey is very much Ditko or Romita Sr even though by familiarity, it should be McFarlane or Bagley. But if you're a Bagley fan, the silhouette and proportions of the Mafex is probably far more appealing. And honestly, for any Spidey fan, magnets are a gas, they add a ton of character to a figure because suddenly he can stick to all kinds of things and photo in ways and environments that just aren't available without them. And who turns their nose up at useful accessories? So despite my preferences, it's not like I can't understand Mafex fans. I just disagree in my personal, subjective tastes.
This is some great content! The way you guys style your reviews, it feels official. Can't wait to get this figure, and thos review has got me more hyped than ever.
Hands down the best review for spidey I've seen. Answers all my questions about the fig while also explaining the figures history. Exceptional work. Definitely subscribing and looking forward to more reviews

I agree with many of your points. I'd love to see a more improved version of this Spider-Man figure. With accessories, upgraded articulation, some extra heads and hands, and possibly a better paint app.
This was an extremely professional, almost "high-budget" feeling review. I'd maybe recommend lingering the shots a little longer when you do the side-by-side articulation comparisons, because it's a little hard to take in all that info for three different figures, but other than that, this was great. Probably going to be my go-to figure reviewer from now on

Glad I clicked on this video. Never heard of you before this. Very thorough review on this figure. I like ur presentation, analytical review style and unbias approach. Im looking forward to seeing you guys take on some more of the Marvel Legends and other figures. Great Job!
Awesome review guys! As much as I love the sunfire body mold. You’re absolutely right about that elbow range. It totally makes a difference especially for a character like spidey.
Honestly with the split, some figures I noticed that have done it well are the Power Rangers Lightning Collection Time Force Red Ranger figure and the Tracer figure from Overwatch Ultimates line, although they don't go back or forward as much (due to sculpt and any kibble in the way) their splits are the best I've ever seen. Also, Time Force Red has a slimmer build which I like compared to the bulkiness to the new Retro Spidey.

With the Steve Ditko head, you know it won't be too long until we see a 1st appearance Spider-Man with the darker colour scheme and webbing. Maybe in the 80 years packaging with some web line effect pieces. And maybe, just maybe the debut of a Spidey Sense effect piece as well.
For me this guy's diaphragm joint is an eyesore and breaks up the paintwork/costume. I would actually prefer a well executed ab crunch here. Really hoping for a pinless update as you say - hopefully with the Shang Chi arms!!! That would be a dream come true as the low sloping shoulders are another eyesore imo - and Spidey should definitely have broad shoulders. for me i would improve this figure by cutting off small pieces of plastic from its double jointed elbows, its neck, its upper ab joint and its leg joints above the tigh swivel to improve its articulation, and paint up the customized parts with the figures' matching colors to make it look lnew and improved, and also slighty engrave the webbings and paint it black so that i wouldnt be worrying about the paint applications being erased or something
My default Spidey for many years was the ToyBiz J. Scott Campbell original release, incorrectly dubbed the McFarlane Spider-Man. I ended up selling it when I got Pizza Spidey; but never was a fan of the extended torso, high gloss and unfavorable looking headsculpt (especially the eyes). Then a slightly improved version came along in the retro wave, but kept that carded. With the Mafex release, I finally had my _definitive_ Spider-Man. But whenever my pre-order on this gets shipped, I'll now have a proper Hasbro one to display with my Legends. The Mafex one with find a nice home on the Marvel vs Capcom shelf.
In a similar boat! I had two of the Hasbro "McFarlane" rereleases that I sold off when I found Pizza. He was good for the time IMO. But I'm glad to have a Spidey for the '70s shelf now.
