He and Priscilla developed the idea and added a lightning bolt to the graphic ... taking care of business in a flash ! The women in his circle sometimes got ones with the letters TLC ... tender loving care . It was his way of showing how much he appreciated each person and how important they were to him and his success ! You can still buy replicas today from Graceland , made from the same mold his originals were. I bought one a few years ago and I cherish it ! Don't know the difference in quality between then and now but mine is silver (actually the size of the one he had made for his daughter , Lisa Marie) ... the originals were larger . Wearing it gives me a sense of peace ... you can tell I'm an adoring fan LOL ! TCB forever !

Also in this decade were the assassination of John F Kennedy and Malcolm X, ALL FOUR of them being supporters and icons of the civil rights movement. Elvis was a strong proponant of the civil rights movement, and he was changing the music business, allowing for the proper treatment and payment to black musicians, entertainers and song writers. He would not even perform at a venue, even the big ones with big paydays, unless his black bandmates (the Sweet Inspirations) and others were treated with the same dignity and respect that he got. In Texas, the Astrodome staff demanded that Elvis "keep the black girls home", meaning that he would not be allowed to bring his black vocalists. Elvis demanded that he WILL bring his backup singers and that they will be treated with the same respect he recieved, including getting to walk into the venue in the same doors that white people were allowed, OR he would not be there. Elvis won that argument, and Elvis drove his black bandmates in an open car around the stadium, right in front of the assholes who tried to bar them from appearing with Elvis!!!
