It's not the police officers job to punish criminals. When they are under arrest, they should be handled with respect. Thinking like Trump is suggesting is what leads to police brutality, they want to dish out their own punishment on criminals (and innocent). I may be wrong , this is just my opinion on the matter, and I will be open to change my point of view.
I don't like gangs either. The drugs and gangs destroyed my home town....Youngstown OH. However, they are people too that have just as many rights as any ordinary Americans and as any ordinary human beings. If we abuse our prisoners or people in question, we are no better than Hitler. There is a right way to police. That's, why the cops are the good guys and the gangs/drug dealers, are the bad guys. Always respect our rights first.

There is a right way to police, yes. But the way its done is obnoxious. Millions of drug consumers face Auschwitz every day worldwide. Under these laws, no cop is a good guy.

The key word being excessive. Words have meanings. Legal and moral implications. If a police officer uses 'excessive' force, then they have by definition crossed a line.
The next debate is what counts as excessive and in what circumstances. Ever case is different.
Nobody has anything against police and security having the right to use force. Everyone should have an issue with the police being able to use whatever force they so choose and afterwards claim they felt it was necessary. That's a dangerous power to give to the people in charge of public order.
