I watched what feels like dozens of these edits in the last few days, and this has got to be one of the best.

I am a balling mess over the episode, and Castiel’s death, and his confession to Dean- and yet I still look for more edits and watch that scene on repeat... I am a wreck. Is anybody else able to relate?

Ok hear me out: I need opinions. I didn't think Destiel was gonna happen, but I think it's not because the writers are homophobic or because they didn't want to have a homosexual relationship in the show. I actually think Destiel never happened because of Dean's toxic way of dealing with feelings: Dean never shows emotions, never talks about it and never lets his guard down if he doesn't think he'll be safe. So I think Dean never got the guts to tell Cas that he actually loved him, he just told him he was his best friend, but in the end you see him completely broken by Castiel's confession that he didn't know how to respond to. So I think the writers did a really good job by keeping Dean's character intact in all of these seasons and show how all of his beliefs crushed after Cas' confession (you can see how in the next episode Dean says he's not a killer, something he would have never said if it wasn't for Castiel's speech). I agree. Dean being serious about his feelings in a way that's actually healthy would have been out of character. But they did also display that Dean does accept Cas' feelings because he didn't get defensive. Although he was in shock and feeling a bit hard-done-by that Cas admitted his feelings essentially on his death bed, Dean was still receptive to Cas' confession. If Dean didn't want to know, he would have told Cas to shove it.
I think a lot of us in the fandom are hella angsty and wanted something more dramatic. Though, I also understand the anger: There was queer-baiting throughout the seasons but knowing now that Cas is in love with Dean and inferring that Dean has been bi this whole time, it's kind of been rectified. (I personally don't think that label confirmations are necessary but we're still in that phase of social of inclusion so..) Also, fans have been writing fanfiction about Destiel for a literal decade. There's bound to be delusion on our behalf about how Dean/Cas should act in regards to their romantic feelings for the other.
The BIGGEST issue with the destiel arch is that Misha jsut couldn't be on set/filming for the last two eps. If he was, there might have been a Dean and Cas reunion that satisfied us Destiel supporters. Ideally, I would have liked them to have been a bit stubborn and have requested to extend the season so they could have filmed with Misha again, but that probably wasn't practical.
Anyways, I agree that - although the edit was a bit clunky - the confession scene was in alignment with Dean's character and wasn't a complete shit-show :)

i see where u r coming from but if the writers actually cared about destiel they would’ve given Dean character development and therapy so that he becomes better at expressing his feelings and dismantling his toxic behaviours. instead they have made him emotionally unavailable throughout 15 seasons without evolving his messy feelings even once… the way he was so kind towards babies and then so horrible towards jack as a baby. the way he was completely against monsters being good then changed his mind, only to change his mind at the next best convenience again? what was all that development for, then?
i know it’s been 4 years since it happened but i just hate how much of a wasted opportunity it was.
i hate how the writers wrote the whole jack arc. i hate how often the writers basically made 2 plots and let them alternate almost every season. the first one being: apocalypse, sam is in life threatening danger, dean saves him: they fix the apocalypse by triggering another apocalypse. the second one being apocalypse, dean is in life threatening danger, sam saves him: they fix the apocalypse by triggering another apocalypse.

Great edit! I've never heard this version of the song and it's perfect. So haunting at the beginning and then so intense. That last 30 seconds with "Was getting close to the human in my charge--you" and fade to black, and then to Dean sobbing on the floor--that was perfect. Great job!

OH MY GOD i am BAWLING!! this was so gorgeous and so well edited, the physical parallel between dean stabbing cas in s4 and cas touching dean's shoulder when he confessed was just incredible. brb gonna think about this for the rest of my life

I think its adorable how you think your right but no... your wrong. Misha didn't create the series did he and thereby can't officially confirm anything as cannon.
