She went through the fence into the canal, after previously telling them that she might do that exact thing, and for 38 years, no one looked there? Tragic beyond words.
I can only assume they didn't want to know. Or were in denial.
So many people commenting about how long it took and why didn’t they do it sooner. Think of all the cold cases that may have not been uploaded to computers, take into account when this detailed sonar was created and then became available. Then the sorting and someone to rediscover info to even look back into it. I bet the numbers are mind boggling

I was a tow and recovery truck driver for several years. Believe me, there are many things I wish I could "un-see". God bless the AWP team for continuing to help families to find resolve and peace. I’m sorry but if you believe their celebration is anything other than pure adrenaline, and joy and tons of other emotions is weird then that’s a you problem. And I mean that in the nicest way. You can’t tell people how to process their own emotions. Jared has been doing this for awhile, while one of those men said it was their first day I do believe. I thought it was Incredible to see the energy shift, it’s real. You want people to put on a front? This is real life, real people, real emotions. In my opinion the only thing I noticed is how smooth Jared ran while the others seemed to get confused, tag a vehicle more than once, and just be discombobulated. Once again it’s the difference between years of experience vs doing it a few years or just starting out.
The excitement everyone gets when they discover they’ve found her! A family will finally have some resolution after almost 4 decades thanks to the dedication and kindness of strangers. The world needs more people like this.

Most are probably stolen cars used in crime and ditched. Unlikely any more bodies are down there, but who knows.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I mean, the local police could've done something about it. Then again, I think they mentioned that times were different back then.
@@bamagalforeverName the police agencies that have the equipment for that. I can name at least... 60. 10 are federal, and 50 are state level. Some larger cities like MIAMI might.

That's not the first time that happened about a year and a half ago they went to go search and police divers tried to find her and Jared found the car in 20 min

I can't begin to imagine some of the things these men have seen so who are we to judge how they handle the situation?
Some people are quiet, some detach completely.
It might come across to some as being disrespectful because they are loud and smiling but everyone deals with death differently and these men have most likely seen more dead bodies than most of us will in our lifetime.

our 12 year old son drown in the big Wabash river 37 years ago and it was two days before they found his body and those two day were hell i cry everyday for him

I am flabbergasted at the amount of sunken cars in that canal! It’s wonderful that you found Maureen’s car with her in it. It’s a very somber feeling that comes over me, though, connecting with the sight of that car making its first appearance since that day that Maureen plunged into the canal in it.
Can you imagine being one of her kids and seeing that car come out of the water looking like that? The car you would've all ridden to the grocery in, gone to church in, gone on vacation in ... so sad.
The good news is that the majority, or even all of the other cars have probably been dumped there with nobody in them (either insurance fraud or dumping after theft or some other unknowable reason). The number of cars very close to the side of the canal and on top of each other also suggests this. They're dumped at consistently car accessible places at low speed. i.e. the car is simply pushed into the canal.
It seems like it might make sense to simply drain the canal and remove all the cars and other junk that's collected there over the years.

Probably didn't have the right resources to search for her. Also, they had nothing but what she said to children as to the fact she was going to take her own life. The police could only take a missing person report. Thanks to all who worked to bring Maureen home.
Its very sad that this woman was hurting so bad inside that she even told her children what she was going to do and it took 38 years to look in her back yard pretty much to find her. May she now R.I.P.

38 years ago, the authorities had a lack of ambition to find this woman. If she told family she was going to drive her car into the canal, the canal should have been the first place to check. Unbelievable.
All those years just sitting in her backyard basically. I’m so happy for the family, finally getting the answers and peace they deserve. It’s very bittersweet. I know the dive team got very animated but can you imagine solving a 38 year old cold case? Bringing closure to her family by bringing her home for proper burial. For all I can see it also could be a crime. Or maybe she tried to get out through the back and it was just an accident. When you nosedive in the back is the last to go underwater and there will be an air pocket for some time. You just jump to conclusions

The back is the last to sink when you drive in a canal and there will be an air pocket. So that is where she tried to get out.

Good find but couldn't help but notice the difference between Jared's serious composure and the other teams animated elation. I guess every teams response is different but there is something very soothing about Jared's calmness and demeanour with no disrespect to the other team ❤

Yes, it was a little jarring in a way but also could have been impacted after diving on 20 cars and finally finding her and I think to find someone gone 38 years the initial emotion is exhilaration. I am sure adrenalin was pumping as well

I can't imagine the feeling of having a loved one go missing for 39 years then finding out they've been only feet away from home the entire time. So sad.
It's always so sad to see cars pulled out and then hearing someone say there's remains inside. Knowing the person inside felt so lost and hopeless as they made their final decision to send their car into water. Thank you for continuing this mission of bringing loved ones back home and cleaning up the environment in the process. You guys are amazing!
Its less heartbreaking to know they made that choice (as sad as it is). The worst ones are when it was an accident or the person didn't even realise the danger until they found themselves in the water and then weren't able to make it 😢

When a parent commits suicide like she did, the children are the saddest victims and their pain never completely heals. "Closure" is grossly overrated as many surviving family members have little peace, anger, abandonment issues and unanswered questions.
This episode is before all Jared’s co-workers abandoned him on the words of one CHILD…misspent youth can be dug up now that Jared is successful…..NO PROOF, JUST WORDS, AND THEY FLED THE SHIP WITH NO PROOF OF ANYTHING….SHAME ON YOU DB AND THE OTHERS…..YOU were only in it for yourselves!!!!!

Well, the family already suspected she was in the water and met her demise. Now they can bury her properly. I rather find my loved one and have peace of mind, and know where they are. It's important to know. Our family had a tragic loss in the mid 60's. My 14 year old mentally challenged cousin was found after several weeks, floating in the east river. As tragic as that was, not knowing where he was, was worse.

This was when cars were still mainly metal. Had this been a newer car it would have fallen apart. I can’t imagine being her family and being told she really had meant what she said and was in the canal behind the house the whole time. It’s just heartbreaking she felt this was her only option. I helped my best friend pick up all the plastic pieces of her son’s car after he peeled out in a spot of water after leaving work (right in front of his co-workers and friends) and lost control and took out a giant signal light and a cross walk sign. Even the officers and the Coroner told us if the car had been metal he would have survived. Neither had any respect for cars, motorcycles or helmets made with only profit not safety in mind.
That embankment is so steep.The thought of accidentally going down there is terrifying,but it seems everyone escaped.Except Maureen,because the poor lady wanted to go down there.R.I.P,Maureen.Brilliant work,guys,thankyou.
What a horrible way to go. She had to be alive when she went in, I imagine. Wow, 38 years... Rest in eternal peace. She was always near her home.
Seems like a lot of people do this on this channel, and I can't imagine choosing that way to go.

Didn’t have the technology at the time and as time passed it become more irrelevant..harsh to say it like that but that’s what it comes down to.
Thanks to each and everyone for the unselfish dedication to helping total strangers get closer. What about all the other vehicles you all found??? Are there possibly many more unsolved crimes or tragedies? God bless each of you and the family who will now get some sort of closure
It would be nice to know the stories behind all those other cars; accidents, crimes suisides or whatever ????
I find it shocking that nobody apparently was looking for her and also learning how many vehicles are there sunken in some water anywhere in the U.S. I am glad the lady will be put to rest now. Great job of the whole teams.

@@michelleblose226 They started out as drainage and flood control canals which would have to deal with multiple hurricane storm events through the year. Some of them may have been deepened further to make them navigable for private boats.
yeah its strange. I live in winter haven, FL and the canals here are so shallow you can stand in them

It’s heartbreaking to know whatever Maureen was going through in life led her here but what’s even more sad is telling her kids. I could never tell my kids something like that and they have to live the rest of their lives thinking about it and wondering. I’m soo glad they found her and the family can finally have closure❤ RIP Maureen🙏

yes, absolutely. Jared doesnt lose sight of the fact its someones grave, someones family member, and believe me those family left will grieve

@user-yu4vn3gw7v they have grieved for 38 years. Now everyone can dot the 'i's and cross the 't's. It's not gonna be the same unhappy grief they felt 38 years ago. It's turned into something different, more of a yearning for closure.
I didnt like that gobby diver. He acted like it was a game and not treating all the cars/situation with respect due. Any of them could be a grave site. I get he needs a new team to carry on but you can tell these are absolute rookies at this side of diving. Its not funny and that loudmouth needs to calm down, speak normally and remember that discretion and respect is number 1. Hard to watch this one as totally lacked the compassion all the old videos had
Jared and his team show so much respect. The behavior of the other team made me sick. I get they are happy they found her, but she has loved ones who shouldn't see such disrespect.
I can just imagine that her family would go to that canal and stand there to cry or think or just look at the water and the WHOLE time she was there 😢😢

It’s absolutely ridiculous how so many people go missing, get found in lakes, canals. Why didn’t they search the canal, she told them were she was going, why didn’t the family intervene.

I thought “chaos” at first too. We’re so used to the way Jared and his team quietly and methodically scan for targets. But in the end, they all worked together and got it done. I can’t believe how many cars get dumped into those canals.

Jared your patience and quiet demeanor is well noted. Due to some comments I want to add ,yes it is great when a case is resolved but it is usually somber and bitter sweet. . Yelling out with glee in a very public venue when you have just found a family member dead in a car doesn’t fit. Speaking from experience .
I felt very sad hearing she told her kids what she was going to do having lived thru similar threats in my childhood home. So sorry for them I hope they were older at least😢

After all these years, Maureen’s children and her family finally got to say goodbye. To wait 38 years for this when it could’ve been solved much sooner is highly disappointing. Please keep us updated on this case!

Freakin fantastic Jared; made this 71 yr old man's eyes leak for sure. CANNOT imagine missing a loved one for 38 years, and finding them, or finding what was left behind that is... Not knowing has to be the worst.

Its such a relief to see the car being pulled up from the water. But so sad at the same time.
I think it's a really great idea when AWP work with other teams around the country. Learning different techniques from each other and working in other teams home field. I've only seen a couple videos from from SSSS, I love their positive go get em attitudes and drive. I'm so used to Jared's very calm and discreet approach to how he runs his crew. You wouldn't know his team was in the water unless you happen to see them. All you you wonderful teams are a true testament that there really are unselfish, God fearing, all loving people still out there. Keep up the amazing work!!!
