I actually have a coydog that I recused, dad was coyote and the mom was german shepard mixed with husky. You can see his coyote attributes a lot and I think the cleverness and adaptably of those things is incredible. It's like having a kid that you always have to keep up with because they figure out barriers you put in place.
I bet hes very protective of your home, property and family too.
@@cathyt144 definitely is, since adopting him at 6 months old he never listened to a word I said. Fast forward to now and it’s hard to get him to not sleep in my bed or ride shotgun in the truck, my friends at work even saying it looks like Han Solo and Chewbacca when we cruise around.
@@CCrK611 must be nice
How did a German shepard breed with a coyote? Sounds like somebody needs to hand over their dogs because they don't know how to keep them inside or on a leash. Best thing would have been to kill the entire litter
@@justforfun4623 It’s pretty common on native reservations up here in Canada, the coyotes sometimes breed with strays, I ended up getting mine as a rescue. Sadly strays are a huge problem around those areas. I didn’t even know he had coyote blood until I did a DNA test on him.
When you remove the apex predators like wolves and cougars, other animals like deer and coyotes are left to breed excessively.
I would not be opposed to having more deer around. Dinner!
@@trentp151 I mean sure but the deer in my neighborhood are starting to kill pets and trample yards and ruin crops. They also run into cars and kill people
@@inthewoods5494 Get out there and turn them into venison then! Makes really good chili meat and spaghetti meat. You've stated perfectly good reasons why people hunt them in the first place.
@@trentp151 not denying that one. I grew up in Texas venison was everywhere! But I think maybe they have a little breeding mechanism just like coyotes because they just didn’t stop coming. They are everywhere.
exactly.
I live on an avocado orchard. Our lives would be miserable without the coyote. If not for them, we would overrun with rodents.
They're called cats, but coyotes have eliminated them as well
Wow... like cat-dogs..
Exactly ! God created EVERYTHING for a purpose. Human Beings BELIEVE that the universe revolves around them and no other creature, object, nor intangible entity matters except them.
@@Titans2138 Believe me as a farmer I can tell you that a single coyote can eat at least 15 rats a day ! No cat can do that. I also have cats so I know.
@@alking6633I think you need a donkey and more cats. Coyotes are the devil, at least for city folk, like me. I live in a very populated beach city and there was a coyote sleeping on my neighbor’s roof, one morning. They’re so much more athletic than most dogs. The ease in which they hop over any normal wall is amazing. I used to think my cat was safe on the roof
That farmer needs to switch to a different breed of cow. I lived on a farm when I was young and the farmer used to lose Herford cows to coyotes. He said the cows would just watch the coyotes kill and eat their calves. He switched to Black Angus cows and the killing stopped because the Angus cows were much more aggressive and effectively protected their calves.
Hereford cows are more gentle and easy to work. Angus are spookier and like you said more aggressive. A friend of mine has a guard donkey in with their cows to protect the calves. No calf losses.
@@joeldavis8851 The Angus cows were easy to move around once the lead cow was established. When you have a herd of more than 90 cows, a donkey won't do.
Would a couple of guard dogs be a deterrent to coyotes?
@@ronellbrownsr.8877 Absolutely they would , Guardian livestock Dogs are becoming more popular in remote areas , there are many vids on u tube regarding these type of dogs , very interesting to watch, Meremma's in particular are now considered far more effective than fences, than traps or poisons or shooting , the dogs just will not allow predators or strangers close the flock/herd. However they should be in pairs or packs as Coyotes are tricky and will entice them away from the herd, a pack of 3 or 4 would create a unified cooperative unit with one or two always staying with the herd as the others went to challenge intruders , fascinating stuff .
We use five Greyhounds.
They tear Coyotes into five pieces!
If you can’t get Greyhounds, one Donkey will do the trick too.
I Wish There Were More Coyote Documentaries Like This 1 From Real Wild.
I learned a lot from this video - I live in West Texas and about 2 weeks ago I let the dogs out of the house at night and they began to bark - When they quieted down I heard coyotes howling - Never heard this before !!! - I am not concerned for my dogs (I run a dog rescue on 2 acres with a 10' fence buried 1') - But it did surprise me - I have lived here for 60 years and never heard a coyote before - Good video, Thank You !!
I. In E. Texas mixed woods and pasture , I hear them about once a week , but b Ave never seen one.
I couldn't really understand anything all I heard was music
Wow that is very surprising I figured there were lots of coyotes there I live in the Ouachita mountain region of Western Arkansas and you can hear coyotes every night multiple packs howling in different directions we have lots of them so it to me is surprising to hear that in 60 years of living in western Texas you've only heard them once that's probably the reason why the hog population has exploded there over the years we have hogs here as well just not as bad as y'all have in Texas
@@backwoods3795 There's a Coyotes @ Red wolf hybrid that's getting into Texas now that a mic of the two and their about 70 to 85 pounds and they take down deer hogs and smaller prey as well they are super predators but fear not they are better than Coyotes their numbers will be less
I live I a very populated area about 10 mins from down town St Louis Missouri. And there is at least 2 or 3 Coyote packs I hear all the time at night if I sit outside at night I hear them calling all night. And mind you im 10 mins from downtown st Louis Missouri. So if there here they'll be everywhere in just a matter of time
Anatolian Shepherds and Great Pyrenees are very successful at keeping coyotes away from cattle.
My gamebred pit bull slaughters them. But as far a livestock guardian I recommend getting a donkey. Those bastards are MEAN!!!!

This is a most captivating and informative video. Well done!
There is a drawback, however, though minor. There are times when the music overtops the narration. This is too bad as the narration is worth listening to, every word of it.

Nice to see a video and comments where most ppl aren’t demonizing these poor animals. They’re beautiful, fun to watch and an important part of nature. And I know they can sometimes be a nuisance but there are always non-lethal methods to scare them off. And because they are a keystone species & help keep the rodent and small predator populations in check, it’s important that ppl think twice about killing them. If you do, you’re not only taking a life but hurting the ecosystem as well.
I love the one farmers solution to the coyotes is to feed "THEM" then they will not go after the livestock, or just scare them off by housing or throwing things at them. They have a right to live on this planet also. God put them here for a reason.💛💚💜❤️💙🧡😘

I have a friend in Wyoming who raises sheep. He was losing many lambs to coyote predation every year even with the help of various guard dogs. Someone suggested Lamas and he bought some and turned them lose with the sheep. That next spring, he lost only one lamb to the coyotes. He also found that although they worked great for coyotes, they didn't work at all for cougars. He was with the sheep at daybreak when suddenly all the Lamas came running through the pasture hell bent for election and they never even slowed for the fence. Ten minutes later, he spotted the cat stalking the sheep.
Huh, I wonder what donkeys would do. I heard they'll take out coyotes too.
Here in the TX panhandle, ranchers use donkeys for predator control. I wonder though if coyotes are unfairly blamed for many livestock deaths? Just because you see one eating on a calf carcass doesn't mean he killed it anymore than if a buzzard was eating on it & we don't blame them for killing it.

When we first moved to my little town in 1987 I used to think I heard the neighbors baby crying at night. My husband told me they were coyotes. Music is distracting, play it when people are not talking.
SB: This soundtrack is horrid and just too intrusive. Ruins a good video and makes me less likely to watch more from the same channel/
The music is fine, the narration is too low. Even the sound effects cover up the narrator’s voice.
When I was 17 my boyfriend brought me 11 coyote pups, they where about to be torched by a cattle rancher, I bottle fed them, it was a wild ride....
We're they aggressive with you after they grew up? What ended up happening with them?
@@actionjksn actually I’d compare it to raising an untrainable border collie.
So coyotes are basically the canine equivalent of the leopard? Leopards have learned how to survive very well around humans and have also learned how to take pets and livestock without being caught. They can also survive very well in the same territories with lions and scavenge the lions kills when they move away to rest despite the fact lions will kill them if they catch them.
I was thinking the same thing!!!🙂
I compare them to foxes
No, it's more like coyotes are the Neolithic humans of the non-human world. They out-breed and outsurvive, spread and colonize, and decrease the success of any critters who compete with them.
@@marloncampbell4708 foxes are not feline. They are in the same family as the coyote.

This may have been a very good film, however, the music is way too loud and in most places drowns out the narrator.
Same thing I thought, some of these editors needs better skills.

A lot of the seemingly insane diversity in appearance of coyotes is due to the same factors that have allowed us to turn a subspecies of wolf into the many breeds of dog we know and love today.
I have Coyotes in the back of my property in NJ. They are cute little devils.
That wildlife biologist is wrong- coyotes are everywhere because they are highly adaptable.
And driving swanky sports cars, too......."Corvette Coyote "

It's weird how people never thought to breed many species of dogs from them since they are so smart and useful.
Wile E. Coyote - Super Genius!
Note that Wile E. Coyote actually is a super genius, he just lacks the ability to properly apply his genius, and his obsession with the Roadrunner gets him into trouble...
Excellent documentary! Enjoyed narrator’s subtle interjection of sarcasm and sense of humor.
@Iwaj2011. I agree. I especially enjoyed the line: "The golf gods have devised a new and painless way to escape a sand trap."
I see Coyotes in Hamilton, ON all the time. Once downtown in a alleyway two coyotes feasting on what looked like a stray cat. I had my 140 lb Rottie with me and he stood dominate and the two coyotes took off.
Yeah buddy good on your rottweiler !
I'm in Binbrook , and there's lots of them Coyote's around ! I hear them at night all the time !
In downtown OSHAWA tonight I saw a coyote just across the street while walking my pug. I picked my pug up and went inside.. It freaked me right out. The coyote then almost got hit by a car. There were fireworks in the park and it scared him I guess. .
In the last couple of years I had to move back to the city from the sticks, we used to hear the coyotes howling at night sometimes, but in ten years I never actually saw one. Well I kid you not I saw a coyote running alongside an apartment building two weeks ago. This was a BUSY traffic and people place! It really blew my mind!
I would recommend Anatolian shepherds or kangals as well. We owned one for years and it's very effective at scaring away wolves and coyotes. They have been bred for thousands of years to do just that job.
Kangals are literally the alpha dogs of all dogs! They're the best of the best, in ancient times it is said that one once killed a lion in a battle. I don't doubt that at all
@@TejanoDeFuego look at the size of a lion, the thing is solid muscle, no dog teeth are getting into anything vital on a lion during a 'battle'... a dog can still be cool without having to make up stories about killing lions and grizzly bears 🤣
@@koopspook it was prolly a large pack of dogs, but i hardly believe a dog killed a lion. most likely the dogs keep the lion at bay while the hunter gives the killing blow with his weapon.

Coyotes are a cunning predator and should never be underestimated. They are known to use all kinds of ruthless methods to chase their prey, including special paints, machines, rockets and even dynamite.
I was a police officer in PEI and there are also fox farms all over that let their fox go wild when there fur was no longer in demand. The Academy was also home to quite a few fox that were bumming food from us while we were there for police training. They really enjoyed pizza. Never saw a coyote even when I policed there.
Some coyotes have decided that humans are not worth approaching. Others are more brazen.
Do be careful if you have small pets near places where coyotes live. I've had some neighbors lose their dogs to coyote attacks while out walking.
good, hopefully they destroy more non-invasive species on indian land including the owners
yes...we have to respect nature and take dogs at leashes....not let them go alone....so the dogs cannot attack dears or other wild animals... and in this way they are also protected from coyotes....so here we have to do it because of wolves.....but still many cannot believe it..so sometimes they get attacked by wolves when alone....or shot by hunters....because many dogs kill wildlife.....

I like coyotes.
Maybe I'd think different if I was a farmer or rancher, but living in the suburbs of a city, seeing and hearing them in the little plots of nature we have is pretty neat. They're also good for killing off other varmints like raccoons, rats, and mice.
These would be great documentaries if the music was not so loud. If you can not be bothered to learn how to properly mix audio, give up on this channel.
I find it difficult to understand why this documentary, which does Delve into the phenomenon of coyote/wolf hybrids in Eastern Canada, fails to mention the 19-year-old woman who was viciously killed and partially eaten by two coyotes in Halifax in 2009!
Wow, very informative,i especially liked the farmer feeding and filming um just kicking back, brews and friends learning more about their habits etc. Than the biologist! No grants or funding, just scraps from the local butcher.
I have about 100 acres of BLM land behind my property with a river running through. There are obviously loads of coyotes around. I have found that they are pretty reasonable except for spring pup season when they are after my chickens. My dogs consistently kill at least one or two each spring but we don’t have any problems the rest of the year. It’s just how it goes.

It's funny how they make the coyote look like a bad guy by playing the coyote movement in slow motion, scary music, and police recordings 😆

Power to you and good luck, wonderful coyotes. You deserve to live, too.
People think they're allowed to kill you, but if you kill to eat, beware. Humans can be pretty disgusting.
Maybe coyotes can grow their own “cattle” like rats and dont hunt livestock any more. ^^
It's not just cattle.... they can wreak havoc when left unchecked in other ecosystem. Because unlike Yellowstone, the wolf has not been reintroduced to most places. I have shot plenty of them... I've seen them so overpopulated in Wildlife Management areas there will be coyote to all over the road you can't walk without stepping in it. They wreak havoc on the local deer population. I shoot them with Glee. I'm all for reintroducing the wolf all over North America period but until that happens I will continue to kill them
@@joeyjohnson4826 First, killing coyotes has the opposite affect, you're not helping, in fact you're doing more damage. Coyotes do not "wreck havoc" on deer populations. Sorry, you're misinformed. What's causing problems with deer is internal parasites that eat their brain, causing them to abandon young and stop eating and drinking. This is thanks to climate change, while cold winters are suppose to kill these parasites, it hasn't been cold enough, the parasites have mutated and gotten better at what they do. Coyotes kill to eat, yes, they kill deer, so do all the other predatory animals large enough. Coyotes thinning out deer fawns is beneficial, as 1. A fawn without it's mother will die, but a doe who lost her fawn can breed again, So either the doe dies (hit by a car) and so the fawn dies OR the fawn dies and the doe can breed again. Hunters killing the young bucks is causing the deer pop to suffer. Coyotes aren't. I've worked with them, spent 4 years in the woods with them for months at a time, and grew up on a farm. It's misinformed people such as yourself that are causing problems. Leave the coyotes alone, honestly, they have more rights than you and your twisted way of thinking you're helping. As a biologist who's out there with them, people who have your mind set are a huge problem. Feel sad about baby animals getting eaten? all farmed animals killed for human consumption are under 24 months, all predators eat baby animals, all of them, you're scapegoating coyotes as if they are the only ones. meanwhile lions eat baby zebras alive. Facts over feelings.
Yes you are.
@@oceanbliss1923 it's exactly people like you who are responsible for areas being overpopulated with coyotes. And you people are okay with it because you are not the ones losing livestock.

HELLO AGAIN REAL WILD PRETTY PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR ASKING THIS QUESTION I WOULD JUST LIKE TO KNOW IF YOU ANYMORE DOCUMENTARIES OF COYOTES, OR ANY OTHER WILD LIFE COMING SOON?
This is what i believe happened to the Neanderthals and Homo Sapiens. Homo Sapiens tried for 80,000 years to enter Europe and failed and it wasnt until Neanderthal males mated with Homo Sapien females that produced viable offspring that was then able to defeat the Neanderthals once and for all. This hybridization between Homo Sapiens and Neanderthals gave us the tools to become a more successful species like this hybrid wolf/coyote...
So the takeaway from watching this is that the major cause of the coyote problems are the biologists and other experts.
Farmers-"So coyotes have made it to our nice little agrarian Island, I think we should kill them before we have a problem."
"Experts- "No don't kill them, let them breed. It will be great, just let nature take its course, it won't be a problem for you and your livestock at all. You can trust us on this, we are experts and we know what's best for you and your livestock."
"What's that? Do I have any livestock for the coyotes to kill? No of course not, I just go to the grocery store when I need food.
Do you think I'd be helping these things to breed and proliferate if I had livestock for them to kill?"
"They killed another calf and some sheep? So stop complaining these poor animals have a right to eat your livestock. Just throw pinecones at them and make noise, but don't throw them too hard you might injure them and try not to scare them too badly I don't want them to be upset". And please stop complaining about your livestock I don't care how much money it costs you I want to study these things. So it bit your 4 year old daughter? So at least it didn't kill her and no don't you dare shoot that coyote they need our protection" your baby can always get rabies shots don't worry about it."
The problem isn't in the animals but us. If you have livestock then protect them, but coyotes serve a biological function when they aren't stuffing themselves with livestock, they are expert pest animal hunters and keep those numbers way down.
They make nice rugs and blankets !
Also other wearable clothing !
Picture show ... congratulations
That soundtrack...
Respect animals
You hear the one guy-'as long as the coyotes don't bother my cattle, they are my friends, else god help them, they are my enemies'. It's idiotic. Coyotes are smart enough but not smart enough to know your livelihood. I am always amazed that the farmers, always surrounded by hundreds/thousands of sheep/cattle, etc. don't just sacrifice the few it would take to satisfy the coyotes hunger. If their margins are that tight they are doing something wrong.
I live in Ottawa Ontario and I used to see a coyote at least once a month. After they culled them and killed many of them they disappeared from sight and now I might see one or two a year. Even if they are just hiding better, the culling seemed to work regardless of what this documentary says.
Most of you ever hear about coyotes comes from ole country folks and farmers. Its nice to hear knowledge from an educated man, a professional who researches them/ their behavior for science.
“Super Genius”
The main reason Coyotes are top dog is because humans wiped out almost all the wolves
The coy wolf is that new super coyote
It is here to stay and will replace the
Other two animals in the future
M: First heard of them back in the 90s, a magazine had an article about them getting to 125lbs and up in NY state. We have had wolves here in WI since that time and Im betting we have some coywolves in our woods as well by now.
On the eaat coast and here in Texas biologist have found a high incidence of Coydogs- coyotedog mixes. Ssome coyddogs on trails treat humans as dogs would. Good stategy. Nice coydogs are fed dog food.
It appears at first glance that the Coyotes in Yellowstone have a much fluffier coat, more "wolflike" as opposed to the other Coyotes coat which appears matted. The Yellowstone Coyotes are definitely a highbred between a Wolf and a Coyote it's not hard to imagine. The Yellowstone Coyotes look stockier than the other North American Coyotes. I have had personally been dealing with two packs of Coyotes. One in Cincinnati Ohio and one in Vero Beach Florida. Both Packs keep their distance, however I know they're there watching me. I normally shine a bright light in their direction because I only seem to encounter them at night when I get home about 2:30-3am in the morning. Thanks for this show because I learned somethings I didn't know.

Coyotes regurgitate food for the pups, and provide food for ravens.the most intelligent of all birds.
Electric fence for coyotes, ha ! You see how easily that dog jumped over it !
The farmers and cattle ranches will never be able to cure this problem. Only reduce it. Regardless of type of business, you can't go around trying to dictate what your neighbors do, just for your needs. There is always a compromise to contend with. Too many people want something for free, at the expense of others. Including farmers and ranchers.
They seem to be the equivalent of Foxes in UK. A bit bigger. They also have made the Urban landscape (I'm in London UK) their home..! Maybe get some guard dogs.. Kangols or similar Eastern European guard dogs

@ Night Lion games I grew up in the country but never saw a coyote. I heard about wildcats, but never saw one. I used to walk around the woods behind our house all of the time.
