- Guy Mariano started skating over 30 years ago in Burbank, California, in the 1980s, and he’s managed to push the boundaries of street skating more than just about anyone. He revolutionized what was considered possible on a little piece of wood with 4 wheels and no nose-before most of you were even born-and he’s responsible for arguably the most innovative and progressive video parts ever filmed. (In 2018, Mariano was inducted in The Skateboarding Hall Of Fame.) Take a deep dive into Guy Mariano's history with our 'Life On Video' doc series, which ends with one of his heaviest parts to date.

Instantly makes you want to skate. Guy is one of the best.
This is what a straight up legend looks like.
2 things...
1- Guy is almost mythical like Julien Stranger when it comes to ever getting to see him skate. Like getting to see a unicorn or Pegasus.
2- he has got to tell his story on The Nine Club.
Why does he have to go on 9 Club to tell his story? Isn’t that what he’s doing here? A fair bit better than if he were on 9 Club, I might add.
@@DFunct905 because I’m a nine club fan and a Guy fan.
This mini doc is awesome. Not saying that it’s not. But it just scratches the surface on Guys career compared to how in depth his nine club
episode could go.
@@DFunct905 yes going on the nine club would be great, this is awesome too. But getting to see the interaction between the crew and guy would be epic and bring a different energy as well. Besides it would be hilarious to see them fan out on Guy
@@cesarmoore7996 hadn’t even thought about the fanning out. Lol. Would be the most we’ve ever seen, even more than Kelly over Wenning.
Check out Guy's epicly later'd if you haven't already
His Mouse part is still one of the all time best video parts. Countless tricks and you can't tell which way he skates.
❤️ GUY speaking about that uncomfortable moment and breaking it applies to every aspect in life: girls, jobs, gigs, tricks and the list goes on.
“You gotta realize, skateboarding comes in waves. It has its ups and downs” that hit me particularly hard because I am 30 now and I look back to when I was skating everyday and getting really good. Now I’m not that great and lost a lot mainly because I don’t have that time anymore. But I want to really try and start pushing myself again.
just start slow homie , get out there and clear your head free your mind just push, turn, and then things will juat swoop back you got this dawg !
36:21 I think these are the best words to live by as a skateboarder. Been skating for 16 years and I feel exactly the same way. Most of the people I skated with when I was younger all quit, but I still go to the skatepark at least once a week. I love skateboarding, and I have nothing to prove to anyone, I just wanna keep doing it for me. Keep pushing past my own limits.
This was a fantastic video, feeling very motivated to keep pushing forward.
I’m about to turn 40...Guy was an inspiration to a lot of us growing up in Los Angeles..introduced street skating to us who only had gangs around us.Thank you to the Girl/Chocolate team for showing us an alternative 🙌🏼
Wow never clicked so fast. The footy at the end was a very welcomed treat. Straight up legend
Its been a long time since I have watched something without being distracted. Amazing piece!
love this so much, you can hear it in guys voice, and to have him say he's here to show people they can still keep doing it as they get older really is inspiring!
I know everyone’s got their reasons but I really miss that 90s-2010 ish Girl crew.
Tru
such a sick crew
Man that era is goated
100% bro
Ageed! That time frame all together. The progression, style everything and I'm not one to dwell on my past but ya can't deny that time frame
Wow, Guy is so humble and gives so much credit to the energy the people around him, gave him.
Guy is crazy feeling bad about the “montage” in Tim and Henry. The four or five tricks he did in that were the illest things anyone had ever seen at the time. He completely upstaged the rest of the video!
Guy is such a cool , down to earth dude now-a-days. . . and of course a fuckin OG!
peace, Eturn
Can we all take a moment to appreciate how amazing Guy Mariano’s hair is...? Just sayin
Thank you Mister Mariano for all these years and ones to come! 🙏
guy has always been the one since i first saw him in ban this. same age, but always the best. i hear him say he was bummed being montageg in tim and henrys, but for us, this was part of him being even better. it was like a unicorn sighting. thx for decades of inspiration. love the dude.
Guy will always be one of the best. True love for skating
one of the best to ever do it
Guy has allways been my favorite skater.
That made me reminisce from my days as a young guy watching guy in the blind video which is still my favorite video of all time I might add just because it brings me to a time when the skating was so big and raw to me! And then watching the other vids through the years that were super influential and in the end to hear Guy say I want to be 45 and making vid parts and then to bust into that sick ass ender part almost brought a tear to my eye. Thank you Guy and thank you Berrics that was bad ass🤙
I'm halfway through. This is one of the best skate documentaries I've seen.
LA Boys is a great one I know you would enjoy. It's available to watch for free on a couple platforms I believe. I watched it on Plex.
Thanks! I just watched Andrew Reynolds' Life On Video, another good one.
This was really cool to watch ! Skateboarding has been such a huge part of my life . I’m 32 and still pushing .. tried to stop for a while and went down the wrong path but I was always seeing spots and it’s just a part of me forever . This made me think of all the videos me and my brother would watch in the early 2000s .. skipping school to skate or going to school and not hearing a thing but looking out the window and waiting for 3 o’clock .. watching menikmati, sorry , the 411 videos , on skateboarding, Transworld The reason / sight unseen , one step beyond , I could go on and on .. some of those videos still give me goosebumps.. This is for life ! God bless
Im 42 now fucked up a few times and skating always has kept me on the right path and closer to the best part of life, living and having peace, keep pushin' stay blessed.
This was tight! I'm just a tad bit older than Guy and I grew up in the L.A. skate scene so this really hits home.
Man. I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin of not even 1,000 people. No stair sets, rails, banks, ledges. The elementary school had one crappy little curb but we always got kicked out by teachers or the cops. Didnt have any skate shops around, no money for good boards ect. Wish skateboarding had been a bigger part of my life early on. Cool to hear of stories like this.
Even at the age of 47 guy still makes me smile and get stoked. Hes a rare dude, and i think were all better for it.
36:26 we wanna see any clips from Guy regardless of age! Legend .
I love the life on video series. So dope learning their past and how they came up in the industry
Love you Guy, met you back in 2013 and you were the most humble guy ever. keep making videos and keep living the life you want to live
Highest levels of respect and admiration for Guy Mariano straight Triple OG status 🏆🏆🏆 I started skating in the late 80’s, and Guy was, always will be a hero & a legend 💯
What a timeless style.
Legend
I know these "life on video" take a while to make but I need more I love listening to the stories and how everyone grows up in the skateboarding community.
Guy's Fully Flared video part changed my life as a kid !!!
Great edit. Thank you Guy for inspiring me all these years. You are amazing
Was not expecting a part at the end, just made my day!
Love this!! As a older skater who has been skating for 25 years this video and others like it help get me motivated. So good!

Seen it a million times but never all put together so yeah I'll watch it again lol never gets old. If any of you haven't seen "LA BOYS". You're missing out as well.
No Battle of the Berrics this weekend?
I think so
Probably not
:-(
Omg this is truly amazing thank you for this 😍😍😍
Name one (or several) of your favorite tricks that Guy Mariano has done in his career! 👇
When he hits the back to back brick banks in the middle of his Mouse part and pivots around but then changes his pushing back to the stance he pivoted out of.
I love his no complies. I know that's weird, but they look almost as casual as Ray Barbee's.
But, yeah...the switch tre crook..
Every bank to bench trick of him
No batb this week?
Tailslide the fence on top of the bank
Legend.
absolute legend! that pretty sweet part is one of the best out there
Great video, loved the history on all the eras and parts.
Thanks for coming out to Palmdale for one of those clips at the end.
Guy you are the man...Sickest tricks Sickest style. Thank you. 1 of the most legendary skaters of all time.
TY Guy do what you do. One of the best to ever do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You youngins need to see this and learn.
LOVED this!
Such an inspiration. 51, still skating when I can. Nothing to prove, just keep on ripping as much as you can.
Love the OG Blind crew, still my favorite brand. Was my first board💜
One of the best to put his feet on a skateboard. Thanks Guy for always inspiring
What a great story , bloody awesome 😎
That full video part at the end really blew me away.
This is great!
Guys the man.
I’m a young adult, & Steve O gives me hope to be able to skate another 15-20 years
Some high quality right there.
dude this is a super dope documentary
Damn I remember that sw fs shove nose grind was so crazy to watch as a kid. I think we talked about that trick for a long time. Thank you so much Mariano (and ofc all other legends) for all the inspiration. I can relate to drug/alcohol issues but skateboard is what saves us, so lets go skate again today!
2 words......living LEGEND!!!!!!🙏👏
Guy is surprisingly articulate here, way more than a lot skaters tend to be. I don’t think he curses at any point.
really inspiring for any life endeavour
LONG LIFE 4 A TRULY LEGEND!!!
Awesome thanks loved it
Guy knows what he is doing, as exemplified in that part in the end--great music, tricks, spots 👌
sick video. inspirational.
This video is more than 6 years old - uploaded 16.12.2014. Why do they feed us with old videos?
Make more money
He has a new part at the end
super wholesome video
what a legend, I'm doing my little come back inspired in big part by the fact he's still doing it
good stuff good memories and good to see everyone doing so good.
Gives me a reason to get up in the morning
AMAZING! 👏
this made me really happy
One of my favorites skaters of all time.
Quite a heavy crew. Mark, Jason and Guy.
Insane early skating....
This was so good
Love it God Bless
Bravo pura fuerza!!!!
As he says in this video, he stands on the shoulders of giants, but for me Guy is the GOAT. Looking forward to him putting urethane to concrete again for his April part (fingers crossed).
Amazing 👏
Hats off 🤠
I skated from 1996 to 2004. I get super nostalgic looking back at that skateboarding era.
Unreal!
Yeah right was the skate video to hype me up when I was 8 years old living in the valley been skating ever since never got good enough to skate for money but still have the love for skating and have some friends with great talent coming out of Texas
fantastic Video.)
