    My old man did this for almost 45 years. Some people do not understand the attention to detail that is necessary to do this art work. I would sit there for hours watching my dad work from stainless props to nibral, slamming metal on metal buffing compound all in his eyes looking like a raccoon. Amazing work brotha

    This is another one of those skills that I have to give props because this is not something anybody can do. It is a true art form by a master of his craft.

    I always wondered how they repaired my dad's prop. It hit an under water island in Shasta lake in the summer when the water was low. The hit chipped off a good amount of one the the blades. Luckily this was only on a 14 ft fully loaded Klamath aluminum boat, my dad let me use.
    I got it fixed ASAP for $50, and never told him until after he got rid of the boat🤷

      Shasta lake can be killer on props when the water gets low. those shallow bits stick out so far from the shore sometimes

      Why? They just need to be balanced and with as few defects as possible. Like any machine that spins a blade fast. The high speed will result in vibration, breaking, or worse if it's not balanced and true. That's why they go the extra mile and make sure everything is just right.

    Outstanding to see a skilled craftsmen do his work. He or the individuals who own that shop are committed to preserving Thier trade. They have to know how to weld and build up bronze the jig he is shaping on is marked for the diameter and pitch of that prop etc. That shop probably has a number of jigs for different props. Outstanding video my compliments to the men who practice this skill. Better then all the people who think everything is on a computer and is done somewhere else

      Cool, I designed some tools at the start of last year for really big screws. They where centered around a 100t and a 50t hydraulic press system. Basically really big and heavy C-clamps with a neutral to the center of mass rotation point.

    We would get soooo many props and I believe skegs? (Cast part of the boat engine) and we would build the lip and grind reform and lay anymore if needed then we would braze the skegs together. Living in Michigan boats was a huge thing for us. Pontoon logs included! We got a pontoon (considered a barge) built on Lake panima Fenton Michigan. 48 foot by 12 1/4 all aluminum double decker boat. Yeah let’s say this thing was built inside then pulled outside on a angle with two forklifts. Thanks for letting me share some of my aluminum welding experience

      The propeller causes cavitation in the water which collapse with enough pressure to damage the propeller material

    I haven't seen pitch blocks used in a long time for propeller repair. We sold ours a few years ago because we didn't need them. I will say that's some solid welding. Didn't see any pitting on it. That's rare for most shops. We also polish ours to mirror finish and double check balance.

    I Made Surface Drive Propellers For Years By Hand The Biggest Was a 48 inch Prop For a Combat Boat in Indonesia…. Man it Was Hard Work But Satisfying especially When My Custom Touches Adjusting the Pitch Diameter and Weight Balance I Could Increase Boats Too Speeds Made Me Very Proud Lol Customers We’re Happy As They Started Catching the Pirates A lot Easier lol

    Wondering if the heat tempers it more than the rest or not.

      I think that it makes the edges stronger than when they were damaged, but I think after every repair the entire propeller gets weaker. I think he told me you could have a propeller repaired 3 or 4 times before it starts to get a bit brittle

    Awesome work really nice 👍🏼👍🏼🤙🏼 cup work I prefer the cup with a round ear myself and blow the cup I keep it meaty and put a knife edge on my back side for where and how I run my boat!! I worked at Go Devil and have worked thousands of props. And all deferent kinds and people can ask for some cray shit they will not do anything custom at GoDevil so people would ask me to do deferent things and I did them on the side. I work all my own props for my Go Devil and surface drive also all my buddy’s for them and a few mud boats one with a 454 big block and one with a 350 big block then another guy has a 6 cylinder and a twin diesel turbo and they all work the hell out them boats and play even harder

    Great work! I don't know much about boats but I heard a theory that impellers are better.
    Make one of those and try it for the views. Use underwater camera while in use also.
