this is the best workflow tutorial for Machine I have seen, and I've spent a good part of the last few weeks looking believe me. Sounds make up groups, groups make up patterns and patterns, scenes. The way you set it up made it all make sense. Thanks so much for this.

I come from a keyboard workstation environment and recently bought a Maschine. I have been bangin my head against the wall trying to get the same vibe I get from my board with this piece of equipment and been searching for a tutorial like this for two months. Thank you and yes, yo ass does need to work for NI. Their own tutorials suck sh!t compared to what you are doing. It seems as though all the other tutorials just give you enough to somewhat understand but, not enough to do anything good, like the teacher does not want the student to grow type sh!t, know what I mean? this is a great tutorial my G. Keep the flow goin.

Hey @landmarq, to rid the silence at the end, just drag your loop points a bit past the end of you song, then export.
Also, instead timing the cutoff for a buildup to drop, just use "gate" mode instead of loop mode in the sampler (press and hold the pad to play the sample, then release when you want the sound to cutout. If you didn't know these two tricks, I hope this helped. ✌🏾

After watching this video I understand the logic behind ideas/scenes/arrangement more: basically ideas mode should have been called 'scene design mode'... instead of scene1/2/3 if you imagine scene names as 'intro, verse1, chorus1'... then 'ideas' mode is basically designing the intro scene, designing the verse scene, designing the chorus scene etc... then arrangement view is really how you place your scenes to build the final composition. When you think of it like that it totally makes sense. It's actually a pretty good system, because you can go back to change your verse1 scene and it will update in your final arrangement (if you re-used verse1 twice for instance). I remember when they first introduced scenes mode I was like 'no this is horrible!'.. now it makes sense.

  • @Sinosure

OMG!!! The way you work in Maschine is a MIRROR to my style of working in Maschine!! We do the SAME EXACT THING bruh!! I thought I was the only one putting midi at the end of patterns to make transitions!! You basically make the whole pattern, then erase from the front of it all the way till almost the end! DAMN!! I do this a lot to create "drops"!! With Maschine you can press play & physically "mute" things & bring them back in, but you can't record mutes like that unless I'm missing something.🤷🏿‍♂️ And the Audacity thing!! I do that too!! I experience the same thing where there's 5 to 10 seconds of dead space at the end of each beat I do!! So I take it into Audacity, just like you & edit that space at the end!! That's crazy!! If you haven't heard of The Producers Corner challenge, I do it almost every week because it's a weekly sample challenge. And when I make those beats, I have to do that just about every time. Take it into Audacity & eliminate that dead space at the end before I submit the beat in mp3 form. Wow, I didn't know there were others experiencing Maschine the same way I do!! I like Maschine in standalone, but if they make a few more changes, it'll be straight!! Great video!! Wow, I thought I was the only one!!😁😁😁😁

Thanks to DDS, Grits & Gravy, and your vid... it all finally makes sense. The key to getting the most out of arranging in Maschine is NAMING the Scenes, the Groups and the Patterns... and using the mouse even a little bit.... something I always neglected doing. Just listened to the "From The Soul EP"! Nice one ❤️🔥! Is this available as FLAC somewhere, e.g. on Bandcamp? THX
My workflow on building a song in Maschine is quite the same. Although I name my Scenes and patterns, e.g. Intro, Verse, Variation, Hook, Break, Outro.
Transitions is really annoying in Maschine. It really gets frustrating when you have elements that start into one scene that should blend over to the next scene, like rises, vocals, cuts.
Another big feature for arranging would be if NI finally implemented the ability to record pad and sc ene mutes and allow us to use Perform FX not only on group level.

Dope! Thanks for the Refresher, as well as your presentation of new techniques. ✌️
(Did you use three of the same hihats on the same row for finger drumming)
