I find not using a privacy tent with my portapotty is a great way of getting a popular camping area to myself
When you find a great camping spot never tell anyone about it, that's my tip
Wanker black sheep people camping somewhere
Doesn't affect the camp-site
How often would you go to the exact same spot over and over again
If you do oh so boring are you
You have commonsense
unless you trust them, then you take them along and hope they dont remember how you get there ;)

I had a great fishing spot....told a big mouth friend of mine....within 2 weeks to entire town was fishing there....your right...people cant keep their mouth shut...or hang up the phone....pretty much the sameâ
My favourite method of finding the best campsites is to watch 4WD 24/7 and then don't go anywhere you blokes go. That way, where I go alternatively has not been destroyed by your viewers camping at your next 'greatest camping destination'. đ
We just got back from a great inland trip. We jumped on WikiCamps and searched for the keyword âstationâ. We exclusively stayed at some absolutely amazing sheep/cattle stations and had the time of our lives!
Omg⊠city people
Great idea to support rural farmers!
Local knowledge is king when finding secluded campsites!
Your right! It also truly pays to go to local pubs in areas where you want to camp and talk to the locals.
Good point about the baits, could save a lot of tears and tragedy by preparing to keep your dog safe from them đ
Always got to be extra vigilant in stat forests!
Thanks for the voucher gents! Can confirm the lux is back on the roads with a working canopy and drawers filled with medical goods in case I need to help anyone out roadside these days. We keep a fire extinguisher handy now but still yet to get my next 12V installed - taking recommendations!
My wife and I did a big trip around NSW last year & stayed on stations the whole time. Very private, always have rivers or dams to use. Cheaps as too! And all the station owners love a yarn and some still keep in touch. đđŸ
Red hot tip for Fraser Island: Get the barge over via River Heads. You can book a specific time and not deal with the chaos trying to get on an off the island using the Manta Ray Barge during peak periods at Inskip Point.
Another great Ep.
I still think you need to have a family section. đȘ taking kids along. My family loves it.
Word of mouth being friendly with locals
100% đđ»
Found the station stays in the Flinders ranges are the way to go. For a small fee you get to look around their property and enjoy everything on offer. The best part is they only allow a set number of people in the camping areas and each spot is separated enough that your pretty much on your own. Our last trip we camped away from anyone but we met other people camping and caught up for chats and experiences when we desired to. Plenty of stations to pick from, try it.
We were in the VHC over Xmas and Sheepyard Flat must of had 500people camping there. We had a great spot alone up in the Heynes Track and we were the only ones camping up on Blue Rag đ€đ€đ
hay fella's some great advice your giving out there not just for oz but for all over the world love your channel much love and respect from the UK keep up the good work peace
i love watching your videos here in america! alot of times on the edge of my seat! i have been in some spots while bear hunting in my truck but you fellas take it to a scary level at times! grahm would have to be my favorite with shauno close second! keep up the great video adventures! john from michigan ,USA
Cheers mate! Glad you like the show.
4WDing here doesn't compare to bear hunting though! đŹ
Shawno is coming to the USA soon with either soot or the dirty 30
Thanks for the help legends really good info
First off .. I really dig that Nissan Graham is standing infront of. And your guys' points about going inland, I would do that to, cuz wow!! It looks like some amazing areas / spots. Pretty cool stuff you guys have down there.
Hipcamp is absolutely amazing. Got a really nice place here in tas on the blythe river where they even had a little toilet/shower block setup on a river. splendid
My missus is in the army and we were relocated to Darwin and we decided to drive from Toowoomba to Darwin and every camp-site we stayed at we had completely to ourselves, minus the couple of caravan parks we stayed at, met some awesome people on the way though.
Shauno with you guys split 3 ways to produce more content when we will see more shows, more frequently? Episodes were weekly before if I recall correctly, but with the launch of 24/7 I recall this was the intial premise for the added content 24-7... it has since been slower the whole time with bi-weekly eps with beers in the shed
Used Hipcamp to find a spot over the Christmas break. Kookabookra Falls NSW. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. Jarrad the owner and his partner (canât remember her name) are seriously good people. Beautiful country.
when driving tracks with friends you will generally came across different camp spots that look really good. Throw a waypoint in the GPS with a note on the campsite to come back to at a later time.
Cool Ep gents, We just did a 14 day trip from Cooroy in Qld to York Peninsula SA travelled inland all the way and free camped by ourselfs at some cracking spots down and back and saw buggerall people was a awesome trip, Done 58 years at DI and 50 at Fraser but its just so busy at this time of the year,
Coming from the states for a month in taz,
going to use these tips. Thanks mate!
We Use Google Maps and find a spot inland by the river or dam and we head out for a day trip and see if itâs a good spot then we take all the family out for a camping trip and we never see anyone the entire time. Works every time guys đ
HI, I'm With Graham, I love to get away to a nice quite campsite solo or with a couple of friends, also on the way in and out I will go down little tracks that are not on any maps to see where they go, I've found a few gems doing that, all the tricks you boys said work well.
i work in out door Ed, so basically paid to camp and 4wd. Even though my company has many private camp grounds all across Australia, My tips would be to just explore around, go find the places, we do a Recon every now and then to scout new camp sites and accessibility, also being on good terms with Vic parks and other people help, just talk to people. We have secured a private land around the grampians for camping just by talking to people, getting to know them. try to avoid popular landmarks, go to camp sites you might have to walk in, we know a few that are only walk accessible but they have some of the only few remaining original huts in the high country.
Graham could call up the space station with that many ariels on his bullbars lol. What are they all for?
Camping in bad weather cuts out a lot of the crowd, had a fabulous campsite all to myself in Styx River State Forest, NSW in wet weather - just myself & my dog watched the platypus forage in the creek.
Is Shauno ever gonna put the scrub bars back on sooty or are they just gonna lie around on his shed?
Love watching you guys, makes my week!
Another tip: Open a map!!
I have two kids, we are based in Melbourne and just came back from a 10 day trip to the coast and over the aus day weekend too. So basically i ignored all the tips - day drive from populated city, peak season, coastal :). We didn't camp alone - but we sure weren't overcrowded and did spend most days alone. On tracks, hiking trails, and beaches - all either deserted or almost such! The caravan park we stayed at was tiny and friendly - something you want with little kids anyway. How? Open a map! Find the national/state parks no one goes to! The hidden gems, the caves and volcanoes and rivers and beaches. Look at paper maps for initial planning. Look at google maps to see "what's there" - and at satellite images to look for beaches. Stick a random pin in and see what that area has to offer - and it's likely something surprising.
Question for Shauno did you sell your 79 series because we havenât seen it for a fair while and is it possible for you and Graham to do a trip with the Y62 and the 200 series and great video guys đđ
if you want to go to Fraser Island during peak periods do what we do a book a house.
love camping but during peak seasons especially easter when it tends to rain for $1000 you can rent a house for the 3 public holidays that sleeps 13 people
Great info on the camping apps fellas. Always wondered how you find these amazing camps on private property. Should have guessed there would be an app for it.
One tip for campsites thatâs kinda going on the other side of what the boys said, sometimes the one that doesnât look that great, can be the best one there. And if there are people around, you never know if you can make some great new mates!
Local knowledge is the best for hidden campsites
Seen you come through Cardiff Newcastle the other day ,, I noticed the new plates đ
Thank you very much for the shout out.
Whenever we go on trips we make sure itâs outside of school holidays and outside of times people would usually go. I went to Chichester with some mates mid December and it was hectic. So many people. All the nice spots were gone. We ended up camping for 3 days at a no camping areaâŠ
I joined my local 4wd club. Iâve been to some amazing spots that the club has connections with. The great part was the club broke the ice for me with camping and showed how simple it can be. Perhaps a topic of discussion for beers in the shed could be 4wd clubs & a bit if a break down of pros and cons etc
That is awesome! Interesting idea
Dam love you guysâ€â€â€â€â€
Grew up sunny coast east side. WA ALL DAY LIVING NOW. Thats a hot tip for yousđđœđđœ
I like to sus out google earth sometimes you can spot a clearing or a track thatâs not far from a actual camp ground and usually itâs a locals only type of place as no one else knows itâs there this also works well for fishing too
every australia day we leave our house at 4am in the morning to get a parking spot at palm beach my tip is leave early to reserve quicker, definitely don't tell anyone and even if you do go at a time where there's crowds definitely avoid the crowds somehow
I always get new idea when I watch this show
Out of season is a good idea, but it can suck... When I was at uni living on a student's income, I found that Cairns accommodation and flights were way cheaper in January. Like half price. So I went. I called home from an open phone booth at 8:30 at night in the pouring rain. Absolutely dripping with sweat. Slightly out of season is brilliant, wrong season is wrong for a reason!!!
When we were up the Cape we met some amazing people in land rover caper with a slide out and full kitchen with dishwasher and 170ltr fridge freezer and hid did the tele with and his fam sons in an old hilux and 79 single cab modified on their farm such a good time
I'm certainly looking at travelling outside of school holidays
The VW and Ranger will be a totalled very soon. As for the triton, well it was rusting already.
Supercharged Zook looks like it's running a little Toyota Corolla supercharger.
LOVE WHEN A NEW VID POPS UP WHILE HANGING AT WORK!!!
Hey guys, since weâre in the shed any chance you will do an episode on tools?
Mainly tools and portable equipment you pack on a trip for repairs and fixes. Cheers
That could be an interesting segment for a show mate
The best place I've stayed and it's free and dog friendly is at Coles Bridge campgound near crudine.
Loved it super quiet and the wife can't call ya to ruin your camping experience
Thanks for letting us know about hipcamp. That is a big eye opener for us camping enthusiasts. when I eventually get a 4wd I will definitely put hipcamp to good use
Finally Joko os back ! He needs to be in more adventures.. now why did Gram contradict alot of what shawn and Joko said lol.. yaâll need to talk more đđ
Definitely donât go away public holiday weekends etc.
Go mid week makes life easier. Few years ago my old man went away queens bday weekend to bluff hut and surrounds in vhc, he sent me a photo of the traffic jam just going up the track there was hundred of cars.
I went and did the same trip 2 days later the day after the weekend finished and we didnât see a car for 2 days.
My lord! The shot of the beach looked like a Toyota offroad dealership all decked out Land-cruisers and hiluxes! đź
One of the best times to travel is when everyone else is working.
The beginning of February is one of the best times to go
I honestly like crowds. It has a great community feel
Go to the most popular camp and make the most noise and run them out of there
Iâll never forget Jocko smashing Baileys back doors in⊠hell of an episode đ
Hahaha
Some good advice lads. Thanks for sharing đđ»đđ»đđ
hey legends, cheers for the voucher, how do i go about collecting it?
Cheers lads - shame Aust has come to this planning crap - but I guess it was always going too - Enjoy your travels and stay safe legends
You think thatâs bad⊠go to any offroad destination any time of year in Americađ
Any shipping to USA? I tried to order via 4WD247 and Snatch directly. No luck.
Shauno is your 80 series LandCruiser Sooty GXL or VX? Or any other?
was that a vehicle under water when you were talking about avoiding peak season and Cape York? at about 5:18-5:20 on the time?
we might have gotten lucky, but we were able to book 3 nights on sandy cape over the Christmas weekend, and only booked it a week in advance đ
Would love for the team to meet up Graham on his solo & allow him to park the caravans & hed to tough trakes then back to carry their caravans & continue with his solo
I would take my boys up to the high country East Vi. Up Licola way then back down or onto Jamieson for many spots you see no one. Some beautiful Places. One day I pray for a motor home now that kids are grown and go all over but, not with me. A motor home I could join up with friend and camp again, then travel around. Ah the dreams. I keep buying camping things, But the old bombs a problem . State forests, camp spots are great In some parts of the high country, camping and no where near others, own part of the river, Just beautiful.
Hey Shauno
What happened with the built engine?
i was hoping this would be the fraser ep
The high country on weekdays from Feb to June is pretty empty (except Easter)
To find the best camp site for you usually the harder the track is to get there will not be many people down there I find especially in the vic high country
I reckon follow your nose to find good secret spots, I pick an area I want to go and use google earth to work out where to go. The amount of awesome spots Iâve found doing that is amazing.
Hey Graham how man antennas do you need mate.
Can we get a walk through of the Nissan behind Graham? That thing looks like an absolute unit!
There is one on his pages somewhere. A bit older, but can't have changed too much
Iâve been 4wd and camping since the early 90s.
A few spots I used to go to where I would be the only person and get pinstripes getting there from overgrown tracks are overcrowded now :-( and now nicely cleared, well maintained tracks.
Do not tell anyone your spots and certainly dont upload on CZcams.
Donât go in car convoys, go solo. No one needs to know. Less đ đ. Loose lips sink shipsâŠ
Shaun when will you bring out the 200 series for a trip?
lots of the Hip camps seem to require byo toilets. Do you boys bring one?
We took a trip to Birdsville and shared the caravan park with one other person for 4 nights
right nurry almost popped out there
Port Macquarie represent!
Speak to locals, if youâre in an unfamiliar area go into a local bakery or camping shop, and speak to the locals about where you could go!
Just come down to SA, no beach permits, no crowds. Free camp everywhere you go and get the whole coast to yourself
When I was younger, one of my mates referred to the hiss of a beer can being opened as: "the sigh of a cintented can."
Has anyone ever used HMPE/Dyneema Ropes for there winch? I feel like they would not snap so much. Also they are usually thinner and have no stretch . So when they snap they wont have so much energy in them and wont take your head off. Just an idea. I use them when I wake board.
Love the Barra g60 shit hot boys đđ»
G'day guys. Some of the best campsites you can find are the ones that you find Off the cuff. You know, on the side of the track you are driving.
Reckon youâll ever run a comp for a viewer/snatch customer to bring their own rig on a trip with yas
Guys I need some insight on how to take a family of 5 camping and fitting all the stuff into a mux. Tried on the Xmas break but didn't go to plan. Need to know how the big family's get out. Cheers
Camper trailer
@@sambaldwin can't always take a camper trailer.
Hire a trailer
@@jbjacobs87 went for a trip 2 hrs south of Perth had so much crap we thought we needed. Mux isn't set up as of yet. Need some insite on how people fit all the camping stuff 3 kids and maybe the dog. Yes I know I need a trailer of some sort but like I said in previous comments can't always take a trailer. Some places your not allowed to tow trailers as they cut up the tracks for the guys who don't let tire pressures down. Think I just need some photos of set up and what you take
Getting the feeling graham is slowly finishing up at 4wd 24/7 seeing a lot less of him
He's bored with the same thing over and over.
The guys have lost what's viewers want.
It's definitely not this beers in the shed this is boring.
There starting to lose viewers.
There just going to the same places all the time now the only thing that changes most of the time is different companies sometimes.
They need to go back how they used to go out and find tracks where people haven't been for years.
Too much money involved in the vehicles, driving $200k rigs is slightly out of touch with what most viewers can afford.
@@James-fb9wn yeah it's all becoming a competition who can spend the most money.
They need to go back to basics with the old 4x4 and have fun.
People are getting bored with this beers in the shed rubbish and the same places and showing off how much money there spending on there 4x4s.
Get out there do some tracks that haven't been done for years export this country.
@@hardlydavidson1937 exactly, I bought a new Triton last year and I genuinely feel like a peasant when I watch their videos
You should start your own channel and give all those viewers what you want!!
SOOTTY number plate is cool
where do you find these free state forest camps?
Is that "Soozy" in the background đđđ
So what form of craft beer are you 100 years of experience drinking?
Suncorp insurance will statutory write off a vehicle if salt water goes over sill height.
Didn't know about Hipcamp.
I talk to some locals about some good secret places and never tell anyone about them. Or even tag along with them
car that caught fire is the new sooty
What beers you guys drinking now
