Had that exact car complete with box art body. Bought used to get into Touring car. Had all kinds of hop-ups. One-way front diff being the coolest. My buddy still has it.

I really like the Tamiya time episodes, mainly because I have a soft spot for these old touring car bodies. Just build the JTCC Opel Vectra bur on the FF03.

Looks like it's never seen the outdoors! Betcha it was just a indoors shelf Queen bc it's in great condition for its age. Great score!! 👍👍
Man I love Tamiya box art, the Japanese just know how to do it, they know that the initial presentation is the main seller.
Instead of cutting the box up just do what I do and set the box on its side, that way you can display the gorgeous cover of the box without having to destroy it. I made a sealed shelf/display case with glass sliding doors for mine to keep the dust off, it works great and looks cool AF. If you go that route don't make the mistake I did and make sure to leave room for new ones, I had to build a second one for the new ones. 😂

Man, I'm right there with you on these! The 90's BTCC and JTCC stuff was awesome. I'm trying to justify the crazy money people want for the Volvo body. Had one in the 90's and regret selling it!

lol, Im still trying to justify it as well. My painting skills are definitely not on level to do one myself.

Cool rc, and had the same problem with the "K" parts for the King Blackfoot as I converted one into a 4x4 and cut the front bulkhead A-arm mount. And now have most of the bits to make another 2wd and can't find another one anywhere!

crazy timing, just finished my exiv body, and put on a TL01, but did Corsa Grey, call it K-Mart colors, not the Esso stickers but the other, like yours, amazing looking, simple practicality from toyota, I think the stock EXIV, was only an inline 4 cylinder, I did the wheels, primed, then PS7 Racing white, and edges with equivilant Corsa Grey

Colpar Hobbies, , I kinda double took the Stevenson car lot note pad. But Colpar Hobbies on the price tag of the Duratrax yellow stick.
I worked at Colpar as a side gig to working for Continental Airlines. I used those very same stick packs with the very same price tags.
LOL those Duratrax sticks 😆they don't have much stayin power but you can roast them like a marshmallow they'll still work. I likely was working the counter when that car was on the shelf. Colpar is now Hobby Town chain.
Dam dude!! Amazing how well that Tamiya car aged.

Colpar Hobbytown is still in Aurora but they moved from the original location from when this was probably bought to a larger location a few blocks away. Stevenson is one of the larger auto dealers in the area still. its cool to see some of the aging. cool to see this vintage back alive

I was a young middle school/high school kid in the early 90’s working at my LHS after school when these cars came out I still have my original FF01 from that era a lot of good memories tied to walls of Tamiya box art kits and my FF01 in general
FYI you can have a 3rd wheelbase option by flipping the rear arms the Renault, Cleo was the shortest wheelbase FF01 If I remember the Golf was the mid wheelbase in the configuration that you mentioned
I’m already planning a runner build when AMPro releases those parts I’ve got plenty of spares laying around after years of racing the platform minus guess what 😂

if you wanted to try another brand, for an electric, on-road, *kit* car. That is, start with parts, nothing assembled. What would you suggest? HPI? OS? Kyosho? Traxxas? ... "thunder tiger" ?

    • @RCeveryday
      @RCeveryday  Před 8 měsíci

I do like the older hpi chassis. Haven’t had any of the other brands

@@RCeveryday I have heard good words for all the brands I mentioned. I fondly remember 30+ years ago I would visit the toy store and stare at the topmost of shelves where they kept the RC kits, almost salivating.
I bought a static tiny tomcat model instead. Nobody showed me how, I assembled it best as I could. I quickly found out I should not be using _cyanoacrylate_ glue. Thinking about it now... did nobody pay attention to what I was doing? Why would anyone let a preteen near _superglue_ unsupervised??
