Interesting. Assuming both are Strontium Aluminate based (which appears to be so), the larger particle size of the glowtec powder would result in slower charge times and longer glow times. During the short duration we see recorded here, I'd say the products are pretty comparable albeit with more of a day-glow from the LIT powder. I'm not sure how desirable that is but I do prefer smaller particles for paint as it results in a less-grainy end result.
If it's possible, it's worth doing a comparison between these 2, unitednuclear and glowin. Because they all claim to be 'highest' grade with longest glow strontium aluminate, it would certainly be very useful to test their claims. A side by side comparison of these 4 with a time lapse of a couple hours from full charge would be ideal.
Sorry I somehow missed your comment. I want to do more comparisons and plan to in the future, just don't have the disposable income to waste on more powders ATM :/.
Thanks for this, I'm after more powder and after checking this out I'll go for Glowtec again, currently my favourite place for powder. I've noticed that on their website they no longer have the option for XL green anymore, only star glow green... Hopefully its as bright as XL
They may have run out. Could always email them. If you need a large amount You can get just as good as Glowtec here for $35 a Kilo Minimum 10 kilo :( www.mphotoluminescent.com/mh-w-series-waterproof.html I use their MHG-6BAW and its better than glowtec.
They all buy and resell glow powder from one of a few Chinese companies and the long duration performance is identical. I have tested the glow longevity before and after 3 days it was still glowing extremely fain to my eyes. after 5 only the camera on a long exposure could see it but it was still glowing.
to be fair, both taper down from the very impressive inital brightness pretty quickly. compared to pigments that arent as bright, but dont fade as quickly.
@@ld5984 not really. but some older standard green glow pigment i have, doesnt have the crazy bright initial glow as lit, but after 10-15 minutes i's still visibly brighter. then both eventually even out.
I think most likely the 'lit' glow is just adding some fluorescent substance on top of the glowing substance to make it appear more 'glowy' under daylight/UV light.
Nah its just a form of strontium Aluminate that had good dayglow. some are better than others and can be made to have a brighter florescence at the cost of a dimmer afterglow. I just got 10 kilos of samples from China a few months back and some of them beat the lit in both florescence and afterglow. the only think holding me bak from posting videos on it is my camera broke :(. Waiting on a replacement part.

I had a bit of an issue with them as a lot of what I ordered (mainly the aqua) was contaminated with other colors or non glowing granules. I hope to do a detailed video on everything I got I just need to fix my camera first.
Thank you for the video! Quick question: I bought some no-name glow in the dark powder. Green and blue; details; When I charge the green one with a flashlight, for about 5 minutes let's say, it emits a really nice BRIGHT glow, but that holds up for just...1 minute? It still glows afterwards, but it is not THAT BRIGHT like it used to be in the first seconds. Does this happen to the LIT and Starglow too?
Yes they all glow bright for just a bit then have a long slow decaying afterglow that can last a long time. I did an experiment a wile ago where I put one of the glow tubes I showed in another video (made with starglow) in a metal box under my bed and after 3 days I opened it and it was still glowing albeit to faint for video.
Liked the video. However, did you consider that the Lit powder container might have been diffusing the light? Although I agree that they both have a comparable glow. If you wanted to retest it in the future, might I suggest making small mounds of each powder and then testing that way.
Both containers were wide open and the light was above them so that would not have affected them. the amount in the metal container may have been too thin but if it was it was not by much. Next tests with be in identical glass vials. I actually just got the other week 10 Kilos of samples from direct from a manufacturer in china and am uploading the video shortly. 1 kilo bag of green from them was only $35 and is brighter than both of these powders :o.

Can you do a video showcasing the different green samples? Also, is a 365 UV light worth buying for charging the powder? Is it considerably faster than a bright led torch?

Just wish you'd done a glow-time test. A confounding factor would be material thickness vs. surface area, in this test.

Witch one glows the longest
In total darkness they both glow for more than 24 hours. albeit very dim at that point.
