- Be sure to buy Genuine GM only, these modern fuel systems are mega expensive and a quality fuel filter is what your truck requires. Next step up would be a full fuel system saver from VSE, but today we are focusing on a direct copy of a GENUINE GM FUEL FILTER.

Yea almost got stuck with one from Amazon a few months ago. Said genuine GM on the Amazon add but it wasn’t. The price was the first clue. The add in amazon was deceptive. I returned it and complained on that add. Be careful if something happens to your fuel system with a knock off, GM could use that as an excuse.
But what’s really sad is that the dealer charges $160 to change one out when the part is only $35 and takes 5 minutes to change.
I put the VSE fuel saver on my brand new LZ0 because of your previous review of it. Despite the cost I have piece of mind knowing that the extra filtration is there without any added strain on the pump. I love your public service announcements like these though. It's great that you take the time to properly inform the community of stuff like this. This is my #1 channel for 3.0 Duramax information, keep up the great work!
Very much appreciate the kind words !
Thanks for looking out for the 3 oh and others. Side note. For those that use Mobil ESP X2 0w20 oil. Autozone offers it in a 5qt jug now. 36.99 Even better per quart price.
Thanks for the info!
Time to switch to the VSE fuel saver
That’s a different buyer, but yes, that is superior. VSE Dual Fuel Filter System Saver 3.0 Duramax Diesel Upgrade

Polyamide 6 plastic, Glass Fiber Reinforced 30%. Does the fake one even have any glass fiber? You’ll see it when you cut the plastic and can even hear it.
This is why the community kicks ass! thanks for the info, I'm not cutting this one open, unfortunately.
There is a good solution out there Greg !
for sure, linked up in the description
Hey man, I’m due for a fuel filter change soon. I got the FSS from RVSE the same week a bought the truck. Currently running Donaldson filters but was thinking maybe switching to CAT. Only problem is, I have no part #s. Or even know how to find them between brands. Help?
Also, I get mixed answers on the filter change intervals. Some say for the donaldsons that came with the RVSE FSS it’s 15k mi. Others says 30k. Help? Again please lol
Thoughts on the wix fuel filter? Bought 1 GM fuel filter and 1 Wix from rock auto.
it looks like the K&N i cut open, I prefer the GM: czcams.com/video/QYpCgesvMQI/video.html
Mann+Hummel owns Wix. GM fuel filters are made by Mann+Hummel. Use with confidence.
I'm thinking of getting the Dirty Diesel Customs Cat filter kit. It adds a cat filter to the OEM water separation and doesn't hang past the frame. I off-road and that's important to me as to not hit it.
What are your thoughts on it???
I just learned about this, through your comment. So, thank you for that. Initial thoughts, I understand your ground clearance concerns and this solves that. The Cat filter used is a great filter so no complaints there. I have concerns on flow and pump load. I would like to see if this adds strain to the in tank pump and if it still flows properly. The VSE unit was shown through videos to not add any additional strain on the in-tank pump and Tom said they had to work hard on the design for it to flow like oem.
@@DemonWorks oh I thought they had to put so much work into the design and maintain the flow because the sensors were transferred over to their unit. Whereas the dirty diesel customs cat filter looks like it just is added into the system after the sensing unit
I will have to freshen up on that info. I like the use of that cat filter, for sure. I do not like hose clamps, would prefer hoses with fittings. I may look deeper into this and see if we can get some flow data.@@MrWeaponlord
@@DemonWorks that would be amazing!
Exactly why I never buy filters or parts from amazon/ebay, not worth the risk.
Just need to buy from actual GM and not other sellers, even if they claim them to be gm. Fun fact: Amazon is a supplier to GM dealerships.
@@DemonWorks thats why i prefer to go visit my local dealer, not online.
I buy amazon parts some from the "GM store" I have doubts if they are genuine. Anyone know?
I do too, yes, genuine as Amazon actually supplies hm dealers with parts as well.
easy fix, run vse fuel saver

White paper worked 😂
It's the little things, ha ha !
Probably comes out of the same plant. Because GM doesn’t make there filters anyways.
Correct, gm doesn’t make their own, it says where the filter came from right on it. The China box also says it came from China. Clear difference in quality, def not the same manufacturer.
