  • Hi everyone,
Welcome or welcome back to my channel. My name is Jess and I love doing DIY, making clothes in a "simply but pretty" way.
In today's video, I'm going to share with you how I made my sleepwear clothes. It's a sleeveless ruffle hem dress. This dress is very comfortable to wear during the night. It's also a very beginner friendly DIY. So I hope you will like it and try it out.
To make this DIY, please check out my basic information below:
    - Sewing machine: Brother Auto Tension
    - Material: 1.5m of muslin fabric
    - My body measurements: 82-66-92cm. I'm 165cm tall and usually wear Small size.
I learn sewing by myself. So I would love to know more sharing from you guys to improve my skill. Please join me in this sewing journey by being a part of it here www.jessdangdi...
And stay connected around social media together:

You have the best way to teach. The way you pass measurements, showing the locations on your body, is the easiest I've seen so far. It helps me a lot with my orders. Thank you so much for so much 💛

Jess, you make the most adorable, girlie clothes!! I am always amazed at the fit and you do them completely from scratch!! No pattern! Honey, you need to be on "Making the Cut" because you are a true fashion artist!!

This is so so pretty! I'm a beginner at sewing and I really appreciate what you said at the beginning about how sometimes we can lose motivation when we attempt projects that are too difficult for us too soon. You are so inspiring Jess!
Thank you for this tutorial! This is a project I can't wait to start! I'll comment back here again after I have finished it ♥

update: I finished it!!! It took me a while 🤣 It's a little uneven and messy, but I am so excited I finally made something wearable! Thank you again Jess 🥰

This is so cute and I'm so happy you show how you draft the idea in a notebook first! The way you make the top hem and shoulder straps makes me think bias tape would also be a good option for finishing the top and as the straps.

    • @JessDangDIY
      @JessDangDIY  Před 2 lety +2

Yes, it's quite similar to the bias tape

You're so right saying that this is a good place to start, a way to get confidence and be encouraged to keep sewing. It's really smart. I just started sewing again after years and I'm gonna make this before I make anything else, and also make muslin before I cut into any of my good fabric! I think I would've just gone for it but this video encouraged me to slow down.
Also, I think sheets would make really good fabric for this! They are cheap at the thrift store and already made of soft and cozy fabric

The timing to make an outfit is not too long. But the timing to come out with the idea, the pattern, the filming and the editing are way longer than that. It's not counted if I messed up and have to do all over again:) But it also helps me to learn more about measuring and pattern making

I love this dress! I am confused though: at 3:37min, you say the top of the dress to the middle of the breast is 14 cm, but your finger is pointing to 11 and when I look at the image, it looks like the middle is at 10cm... So if you mark at 14, it is the bottom of the breast and not the middle. I don't know where to mark it correctly. Anyone has an insight? Thanks! :)
