This is a nice, Subversion and plot twist. The Brothers didn’t make the “Ever After.” The Ever After “Made” them, interesting. Makes me wonder… if the powers of the Ever After could kill, Salem.
Kill isnt the right word, its ascension, Salem needs to understand the value of life and death in order for her curse to be broken. She needs to be ascended to fully understand herself and everything else around her.

it seems like the powers at work here, while godlike, ahve... certain limitations. The god of darkness cannot give life. he can return life to the destroyed, change life, and create physical forms for life. But he can't create life. A nd the ever after, the tree itself, cannot seemingly affect the creations of the ever after. The cat could not return to the tree.... and i feel like there was an implication that the cat WAS in fact, killed by alice, considering we often see the creature bisected, but it didn't die, just came back. Think the god of light cannot 'create' something from nothing like the god of darkness can, but can grant life and take life away, and more so undo his brother's actions. He is at a major advantage in the universe outside of remnant cause there is so much here to work with.
So even the Brothers don't truly understand the balance, their ambitions and differences made them blind to the overall picture. They simply disagreed on what the balance should be as they believed it, rather than see it as what it could be, giving them the choice. What Salem did to bring Oz back was wrong, what she did to Remnant was wrong, but the Brothers didn't give her a choice in the end, and how can she understand the balance of life and death when they don't even understand it and the role it plays. Anyone thinks that maybe the Brothers should become a single being, capable of understanding the balance?
They did give her the choice. They gave her the specific way that she could have ended her curse. She could just learn that balance is important and the curse would be over. I think the gods did learn how balance was important and such. Light just wanted Salem to learn the lesson they were taught.
@@erickamakeeaina1649 yeah but the situation with the Cat and the Jabberwalker made me feel that they repeated the same mistake with Salem, and they didnt have show how humanity came back, so they may or may not have fully learned their lesson
@@matthewclokus7311 I think the answers lies in how the tree treated the brothers vs how the brothers treated Salem. When the brothers started acting up, the tree didn’t admonish them, destroy their creations, or reset the everafter. It gave them their own universe to create to their Hearts content. It even left a back door open for the brothers and their creations to return to the everafter, so they were hardly banished. As much as the tree wants balance, it also respects its creations free will, and will actively facilitate it. Compare that to how the brothers treated Salems insubordination, and it’s easy to see they are way more heavy handed.
I like the fact that dark brother looks like European classical dragon that represent evil, while light brother looks like Asian classical dragon which represent good
A slight correction, but dragons in the European folklore aren't evil. In viking culture, they are the endgame of avarice. The result of greed and selfishness. In middle ages, the dragon became a symbol of power, strength, a thing to be feared and respected. It's also why some crests have draconian symbolism. Greedy, selfish and self serving, but not evil. The eastern Asian style of dragon represents a more wiser counterpart, though.

@@viniciushenrique6672 I'm trying to figure out where, when and how they'd cross paths with the main characters, and how they would specifically affect them. Here they are, the Verandertiers: [Verandertier Description]: The Verandertier(s) (from tier verander, German for "changed beast"), are creatures (types of animal life to be exact) native to the world of Remnant, being direct and indirect descendants of the planet's original inhabitants (who occupied the planet before the Gods remade it as they please, thinking it was a blank slate). Like the Grimm (but having no relation to), they often pose a threat to to humanity. But UNLIKE the Grimm, which do so for the sake of it and live to do so, Verandertiers attack out of a sense of self preservation, defending territory and young, or otherwise "misbehaving", being neither good nor evil. their unique status as lifeforms not made by the Gods and the unstable, chaotic, and always changing ecosystem the planet used to have, the Verandertiers are capable of "improvised ontogeny", a mutation like metamorphosis that allows an individual animal or other lifeforms to adapt to a variety of situations and to enable rapid evolution. An animal or person becomes one if they have a "V base" in their genetic makeup that then activates by various causes, usually life threatening ones like allergies, toxins, extreme injuries, etc. (More specifically, the improvised ontogeny is how a normal animal actually becomes a Verandertier, and that Verandertiers are "descendants " of Remnants original inhabitants in the sense that the V-base came from a certain lineage of the latter that survived just long enough for the V-base to cross paths with and somehow inherited by precursors to a select few, if any, of each modern species, which is how almost any animal could have a V-base yet Verandertiers are rarely seen). The resulting form is usually superior to its original counterpart in at least a few ways.
People have speculated that Salem or Cinder will be the final boss of RWBY, but I'm starting to suspect the final bosses will be the gods of Light and Darkness.

The best thing for those two would be to walk a proper mile in their own creation's shoes seeing the pain and strife they put their people through in order for them to fully understand the mistakes they may have made themselves.
They wouldn't. Ever played God of War? Take a look at Odin and Athena, and realize most if not all gods are self-obsessed solipisists who are utterly incapable of self-awareness or empathy save for manipulating others.

1:00 SO There ITS a connetion BETWEEN The light Brother's SILVER EYES and the BLUE BUTTERFLIES 🦋. Ever since they appear when Maria trained Ruby's i knew that there was something more Going on.
In other words... When they finally meet the brothers and they will... Now they have an actual point to argue against their little extinction crap. Say what you will it doesn't change that they considered life as merely an experiment, and at the first uprising (which is surprising), they just hit reset and left... Not very "holier than thou". Also this kinda means there IS a way to stop Salem: Send her to the tree. It will help straighten her out.
Kinda I feel like the Tree functions on death and rebirth so Salem would have to die first (which she can’t) and even if you make her consume the leaves I think she’d have to willingly go to the tree (which is unlikely)
@ironicweeb4111 Ruby? Went to the tree. Didn't die. Jaune? Went to the tree, got fixed. Didn't die. Dying is a way you end up there but not the only way to it or from it. If they gave Salem the leaves it COULD send her to it.
They kind of did do what the tree did though. Humanity was broken, or they deemed it broken anyway, so they shattered and remade humanity. It isn’t that different from what the tree does, just on a larger scale.
@nevermore7285 "Humanity was broken" how the hell do you figure that? Every last man, woman, and child across the entire planet were all wiped out because of a small fraction of them fell under Salem's influence. Which gets even dumber since all they had to do was kill her alone, and none of that "uprising" would have happened, but they decided to torture her even further by making her immortal. What the crap did they think she would do? And again, for the sins of the few they wiped out EVERYONE. How is THAT in any way a justified response or in any way "like the tree". Oh and to top it all off, not only did they commit mass genocide and hit reset on evolution, but they ditched the world entirely, brought Ozpin back in a way that's actually LESS natural given his soul overrides others' consciousnesses, compared to just flat out reviving him in the first place, set him up with a task of preparing the world for judgement over all life while they again chose to completely abandon the planet and not guide their creations in any way, and now that I think about it... What does their judgment even matter? They already purged the planet once over a single mistake. What the hell would it matter if they did it again? They sure don't care enough to try and fix it themselves (and no sending Oz doesn't count even in the slightest since HE isn't a "god").
@@ironicweeb4111 the tree created the brother gods which means that it is a superior entity, its just that compared to the brothers the tree seems to be more pasive waiting and seeing rather than just going and taking matters into its own hands
So it shows that the brothers aren’t these omniscient beings…. They are actually still learning to this day. But it’s also terrifying that beings of that power…. Don’t even understand what they are punishing people for. “If humanity can’t coexist without violence, we will wipe you all out”, is basically what the brother of light told Ozma before reincarnating him. He obviously doesn’t understand that disagreement are inevitable, and not all of humanity will think the same. Sometimes people will be divided just based on their own beliefs.
which means that now team rwby has the tools to confront the gods, not on an equal footing but on an ideological level now that they know their origin they can actually try to get to them
So the gods were right when they said how balance was important. It was a lesson they themselves had to learn. So they were just trying to teach Salem the same lesson they had to learn.
But because she was blinded by her own grief over Ozma and contempt towards the Gods, she never really understood THAT lesson instead; only that the hearts of men are easily swayed. And after meeting Cinder, she sensed the pain she went through as a child and took advantage of it by having her steal Maiden powers and acquiring the Relics of Remnant to summon back the Gods, throwing the world into chaos.
Essentially this would make the brothers hypocrites! Preaching about the balance but never having the patience to see how things play out whilst rashly destroying it when it no longer serves use or purpose
They still haven't learned it, given that their response to humanity not panning out the way they hoped was to destroy it, let a new humanity evolve, and then threaten that humanity with a final judgement if they don't measure up, all while being menaced by the Grimm and their last mistake.

i think that is kind of the point, the tree created the bothers which have the power to created and in turn the brothers created humanity which also has the power to create, all in diferent ways, and of course when someone is given the power to create he can use or abuse that power the gods created both monsters and beautiful creatures, humans create wonders and weapons, and the tree is an observer it seems
This kinda feels like Destiny’s “Book Of Unvealing”: Two “gods” of what would become Light and Dark in a garden from before time. 1:05 One a Gardener and Creator, the other a Winnower and Destroyer (Twofold actually 1:43- 2:28), who’s disagreements on how they would perform their charges would shake the coming universe forever more. The main difference here being that an outside mediator managed to refocus their efforts towards more constructive outlets before The Garden was destroyed and the two could truly fall into eternal war… …And In Between Both, A Witness who brought them each to their darkest moments: Salem, who would tell you she seeks an end to the suffering they wrought when she only seeks to end _her own._
I was thinking that exact same thing when I saw the thumbnail, for a second I actually thought it was Destiny for some reason because of the color scheme XD

Did you even consider his task would be near impossible; with Salem around?" Y:"Oho. And let's not forget. The whole mass extinction of life was entirely your fault. Salem may have unite the first humanity against you. But that was because you wouldn't do a simple thing like being Oz back for her." Gol:"Life and death are meant to go only one way." R:"Maybe that's what you planned, but we've been to the Ever After. We saw how you messed up. I get siblings fighting each other, believe me. But your fight went too far."
The brothers got the idea of balance from the tree and what it gave them but in the end, the balance they've decided on isn't what the tree believes in. So instead of punishing them or undoing what they did in its world, it made them a way to another universe that they could decide what to do with. It didn't teach them a lesson for getting what it taught to them wrong, it chose to let them go on their own to see how they would do without it's presence and left a way back for them if they were ever willing to see it the tree's way and to change their idea on balance. Ultimately, they never came back so to them, what is balance to the tree is chaos to them and therefore, wrong.
I blame the God of light slightly more than the god of darkness, because at least dark had the decency to say "Hey, maybe we shouldn't condemn our creations for being imperfect, since we made them that way."
the older brother needs to stop being mean to the little brother for not building his lego set like his XD, smack talks the creation of jabberwalker and the grimm and destroys it only for the little brother to rebuild it

An interesting detail regarding the brothers dragon designs The benevolent one looks more like an Eastern Dragon, while the other is designed like a Western Dragon. Eastern Dragons are seen more as divine, benevolent, wise creatures who could bring good fortune Western Dragons, by contrast, are seen as malevolent and corrupted only capable of destroying And the brothers clearly have opposing views and ideas, much like their inspirations
Just gonna point of the parallelism to the yin and yang symbol and how the interpretation botched the original concept from the sole fact that each side is missing the opposing dot that represents the fact that no matter how much the differ there is still a connection between the two of them.
I know that this all revealing and what not but… did no one notice it was the BLACK flame that restored the Jabberwacky figurine while the WHITE dragon destroyed it? I know that the people in the universe have referred to the gods of their respective titles of light and dark and the images show what they did initially as younglings- but did the gods themselves specify if which one was Destruction and Creation? Because it always seems like the God of Darkness creates creatures - flawed but creates - yet the God of Light first response is always destruction. A little odd no?
Well, even before, the Grimm were always the God of Darknesses creation. It’s more God of Order and God of Chaos than necessarily creation and destruction.

So they(or at least the Dark Brother) had an unseen corruption arc.

Here they are, the Verandertiers:
[Verandertier Description]:
The Verandertier(s) (from tier verander, German for "changed beast"), are creatures (types of animal life to be exact) native to the world of Remnant, being direct and indirect descendants of the planet's original inhabitants (who occupied the planet before the Gods remade it as they please, thinking it was a blank slate).

It's possible they began to see themselves as better than their creations that were all animals and objects. They became humanoid.

But it’s also terrifying that beings of that power….

Tldr: the tree is singlehandedly responsible for everyone's problems. Lol
The whole scene about little and somewhat brought tears to my eyes. 😢

The benevolent one looks more like an Eastern Dragon, while the other is designed like a Western Dragon.
Eastern Dragons are seen more as divine, benevolent, wise creatures who could bring good fortune
Western Dragons, by contrast, are seen as malevolent and corrupted only capable of destroying
And the brothers clearly have opposing views and ideas, much like their inspirations
Just gonna point of the parallelism to the yin and yang symbol and how the interpretation botched the original concept from the sole fact that each side is missing the opposing dot that represents the fact that no matter how much the differ there is still a connection between the two of them.

I know that the people in the universe have referred to the gods of their respective titles of light and dark and the images show what they did initially as younglings- but did the gods themselves specify if which one was Destruction and Creation? @@yuyuyuhanah3248 that's because those two brothers completely misunderstood the meaning of balance, they seem to be only fixated on the balance of life and death, when there's more than just those two things.
Zeus was the idiot who screwed a swan.
Hades cleaned up his messsed
@@cunningsmile4166 Zeus was a lot of things. He screwed his mom, animals, and ate Athena’s mom right before she burst out of his head.
Fools who think themselves gods. Ambitious fools who create and destroy at their leisure. Time for a Kratos to end their selfishness. Salem is not that Kratos tho. I’m thinking it isn’t Ruby or all of RWBY either, I’m thinking Jaune will rise beyond what he even thinks he can.
We can only hope, brother. But at least someone gets it!
Dramatic much?
"To be a God, you need only convince others you are a god." - Savitar
Uh... so I stopped watching during season 4.
WTF
I really despise volume 9, but what gets my blood boiling the most, is that it all accumulated to this horrible and boring backstory for the gods, who already were a bad idea. It's not even drawn that great, it's absolutely atrocious looking. If I were the AD, I'd ask for a redo, and if Erin Winn (AD) drew these 2D assets, I'd probably fire myself.
I like how this doesn't really explain shit after she starts talking about balance then goes off on a tangent.
Give up Kerry!
