Hello! I just want to thank you for the video; I’d seen Tom’s review on The Dice Tower and I watched a how to play video from another channel, but until watching you two play I wasn’t interested in the game. Now I’m buying it.
When i play with the kids at the club i usually use a simpler rule that ignores the rule that the passive have to be on your homeboard 👍it just has to be opposite color board 😁 made it much easier for the kids to grasp.
Unless my count is off, Shobu has 58 unique first-turn moves nearly triple that of chess. I excluded mirrored first moves. It jumps by a huge margin with the second move. Edit:51 unique first turn moves.
The game looks great, but $30 seems like a lot for rocks and 5" wooden squares. I just went to Michael's and bought some squares of wood and some black and white glass vase filler gems for less than $10.
god it's so confusing that the overhead view is opposite from the front view. If you had made it so the two boards closest to the camera were also on the bottom of the screen the board positioning would be so much easier to follow
achem...took a strole to the graveyard, picked 16 red stones and 16 green stones, went home to the drawing board with my ruler, scalpel and dye. 10 mins later i have Shobu at home. XXDD
Oh my god, this is so amazing! Such simplicity paired with as much depth as you want. I got to get my hands on one of those.
Yea this game is truly a gem! It should be hitting retail soon :) and is on the smirk and laughter page as well!
MOAR please! This seems like a 3d chess, but streamlined, and I can't find gameplay of it anywhere else.
Yea it’s a very lovely abstract strategy game! Not a lot of coverage on it yet - but man is it a gem!
Isn't the move @10:36 illegal since he started on your side of the board? The game looks great and I have it preordered, should get here Aug 21st!
Yep :) there is totally an illegal move! I still won though so no big deal - the game is lovely excited for you to get it!

Thank you so much for watching and commenting :) - this game is lovely I’m really glad we convinced you!

Nicely designed game. Well executed video
Thanks :) and yes it’s a very clean design!

Ok, I recounted and it appears to be 51, not 58.

Sure . . . You can make your own just like most abstract games. It’s very lovely though and I think it’s worth the price.
Also, that doesn't support the designers which makes it less likely that they'll make more games like this in the future.

Very interesting game, you should test and review some Games from the Gipf Project like Tzaar, Yinsh,Dvonn. Would be fun see you play this game.
Uh...... this game looks like the work of genius! Must have!
It feels like it has already existed XD but it’s brand new! Instant classic!

the draw of the game for me is that it doesn't have a static move set like chess or go.
Umm. Pretty sure you cannot push your own pieces. >.>
Did we push our own? I’ll have to double check things :)
Tak is better.
I think they are equal. Tak however has fewer mistakes from players breaking rules.
