Concert Porgy&Bess in vienna at 9.10.2019 Line up: Andrea Motis - tr/voc Christoph Mallinger - vio/mandoline Federico Dannemann - guitar Martin Heinzle - bass Esteve Pi - drums
7:12 "Die Moritat von Mackie Messer" (Weill, Brecht) brings her to singing in seven languages (counting in Hebrew, from 2023) - a very talented and versatile lady!
Wonderful! The song "Mack The Knife", or "Die Moritat von Mackie Messer" is originally from the 1928 German Ballad opera "Die Dreigroschenoper" (Three Penny Opera), composed by Kurt Weill, lyrics by playwriter Bertolt Brecht. Outside the German-Speaking countries, the song is best known from the Bobby Darin (1959) and Louis Armstrong (1958) renditions. (both of which use different English translations, by the way).
Ah, Christoph, my new-found friend. Now I know what you meant when you said there was so many more videos you could share. But, now that you've teased us, please us with full renditions of those not yet available. Apropos of nothing, I find it sort of funny that Andrea wears a watch on stage. She was wearing in November of 2011 during her breakout concert. She's wearing one here. Fine playing throughout, of course.
Here she is holding her own with a group of road tested musicians. Predictable next step to well deserved celebrity, Andrea, a good result however it evolved.

I'm short of language skills is Andrea singing Mack The Knife in German?
Yes
@@ianlambert8034 She sounds good to me but I don't know how her german sounds to a german speaker . Thanks for replying
@@melcalgary5306 Probably just as delightful as her English is to a native English speaker!
@@melcalgary5306 It's just as much an adorable Catalan accent that you don't confuse her as a German.
It's always the Umlauts giving it away.
