- Good morning~ I have been working on this video for a long while now, it is the only 7 minute song that I listen to on a daily basis. I know lyric videos aren’t really my shtick anymore but I haven’t seen a translation to this one so here you go, a terribly made video. (I tried my best)

I'm reading Song of Achilles by Madaline Miller and I got to Patroclus's death scene while I was reading it in my English class. I was crying, like literally crying with tears running down my face. I had to use my bangs to hide my face so no one could see. For some reason I thought it 2ould be a good idea to listen to this song despite what I just read, and now I'm wanting to cry again.

I’m really lucky though because my friend bought me the copy because she knew my parents wouldn’t let me read it! She even added a nice note in the front of the book and I love it!

Everytime I feel even the slightest bit as if a dreadful dreadful spell takes over me, I put an earbud in and turn on this song. It heals my soul just a little bit, but at the same time it hurts my soul. How many lives have been saved from this? How many lives who hear this need dire help? It hurts me in my heart that I like many other people are having such a dreadful spell but it gives me hope that so many of us turn to this song in such a dire time of need. I wish you all a safe night.

Also how I interpret the song is it’s Patroclus after death telling Achilles that he shouldn’t un-alive himself because Patroclus is gone. Then maybe the voice being negative while Patroclus is telling Achilles he shouldn’t un-alive himself is the gods Achilles angered? Or maybe it’s Achilles himself being negative. This is just how I hear it idk.
I think personally it is referring to how achilles threw his life away to become a powerful being even though he knew it wasn’t what he wanted. So he wanted to un-alive himself

It started with the discovery of this song, then the discovery of the comment sections on the song. Realizing I missed a lot of Greek Mythology in school and not recognizing who Patroclus is. Found interest in The Song of Achilles, got a few chapters in and realized I was needing a refresher on the Iliad, and found a free documentary. Now reminded of a brief history, I can fully feel the brute emotional force of the book I discovered all through this song. One song discovery has turned into days of deep diving into a new hyperfixation
In my opinion, this song is about Achilles with his obsession of being a God, so the writer advises him to come down, give up his ego
And there may not be meaning, so find one and seize it, do not waste yourself on this roof.
