- There are only a handful of rear wheel drive hatchbacks in the world and the 1 series is easily the best. It’s small, nimble, lots of fun and easy to live with on a day to day basis. Good ones are going for tempting prices these days.

Finally the car which I use..BMW 125i M sport.. its really a fun car with excellent handling capabilities.. I don't think 125i is available in india if available would like to buy one.... thanks for choosing series 1 this time..
With a remap, putting out around 220hp and xhp transmission map.. would be a proper hot hatch and it actually tried to kill jeremy clarkson on the track. 😁

E87 123d (MT) was perhaps the ultimate diesel hatchback ever. First production diesel to go above 100PS/L, the rear wheel drive chassis and very frugal. Simple remap bumped up figures immensely.

I own the same color 118i f20 ZF8 in the Netherlands. Not sure how many other hatchbacks and FWDs I test drove, the moment I push the throttle of this one, I decided to go for it.

Got a 118d 2008 model in UK with 80000 miles on it....one of the best cars that I have ever driven.

If my memory is correct this came to India In the 2011 or 2012 period. I liked this car very much, somehow it appealed to me. And I remember one of the test drive car getting towed after a severe crash.. it was a silver one.

Great Job... I feel you can do a Volvo V40 / Cross country....
I had bought a pre-owned BMW 116i in 2016/2017 and used it for 24+ months -- then my choice was between 1 Series and V40... I got the 116i lower spec trim as 118d higher spec had a price differential of over 5-6L and was in demand in used market... 116i was easier to source then -- I closed the deal post a 3M negotiation, no takers for petrol.... Great Car - lacked the punch of the Diesel but for me it was a city run about..
back when BMW 1M was launched, I even planned to settle abroad just for owning that car.
Selection of contents and choice of cars are at its best…

I feel the same M235i is the ideal BMW. Small rear wheel drive performance car. Thats BMW. It was 3 series but from F generation 3 series is like old 5 series class.
I have a M235i and I've driven 3s and 5s. I choose M235 OVER 4 series after test driving both..
235i is perfect.

Vivekji I have a doubt -actually front wheel drive cars giving more traction than rear wheel because engine weight gives more traction to wheel compared to rear.
I think audi quatro gives 60% power to front wheel 40% at rear and quatro became one of best four wheel system amoung cars..

Super Sapien said it. Weight transfer during acceleration is what gives rear wheel drive its traction during launch.
However on low grip surfaces and on ramps, a RWD struggles because of lack of weight over the driven wheels
