Yes and also the girl who lost looks really young so she still has plenty of time left in her career. And even though she "lost," she still won a silver medal at the Olympics! That's not a losing game to me.
Nice job to both of them. However, I can see where the fans are coming from. By winning the medal, sun could have won a ping pong equivalent of a golden slam. But at the end of the day, victory is earned, not handed to you.

Aa culture that values the whole more than the individual. Hard to wrap my head around as someone who has"rugged individualism" in my blood, but there is more than one way to look at the world
China manufactures athletes for the Olympics. It’s not like other countries where athletes choose their own path, become good on their own until they get discovered and pushed with sponsorship. In China, they recruit through a government agency and the kids with potential are pushed. They get free room and board with the only goal being to train and win medals. In most countries, there are athletes that return over multiple Olympics despite never medaling. That however does not happen in China. If you don’t medal, they drop all endorsements and sponsors immediately and you’ll never see that person again unless they defect and find new citizenship, but China typically won’t let their people leave under these circumstances. China seldomly gives their athletes second chances and this was actually sha’s second chance to win gold. With other countryman winning, it’s likely China drops sha, her trainers, and even her teammates. That’s why so many in the crowd looked bummed. Because it wasn’t just shas livelihood riding on this match.
Imagine you're struggling because both athletes competing gold is from your country and the one won wasn't your favorite. I wish I had struggle like that.

So when the victor crossed the finish line, NO ONE from her country was there to help celebrate. COLDEST moment I ever seen! Look it up!
The coaches left because it was a complete shocker that she won. She was there to set the pace. In most cases, people who set the pace in early race can’t keep up and would have very bad finishes. Her plan was to take the lead, set the pace, and drop out after her teammate catches up. But since the team mate never caught up, she just kept going.
I mean kinda right?… she was a pacemaker, and when the main runner couldn’t keep up with the pace maker, she dq ed herself to save face, and then yes she celebrated by herself cause no one thought she would win.
I also like to add that for any competiting world-class athlete, ESPECIALLY for the Olympics, it would be basic common sense for your team to STAY, no matter what role they have. From start to finish. Post race and controversy, I read that the Atheletic Committee for China had corrected their mistake and gave the victor a hero's celebration afterward. But still, it's been forever recorded in Olympic history.

Wow, yall really cannot go a second without bring up female athletes looks, it’s gross! This has nothing to do with beauty, it has to do with skill! People like you are so small minded
The real reason for the cold reaction from the coach team is that Meng exposed all the skill weakness of Sun’s. Giving a text book teaching for the world how to defeat Sun in the future.
They have already competed in so many matches in China, and it is certain that they will find each other's weaknesses to attack each other. If Sun Yingsha is so easily found weak and defeated by opponents, she might as well retire now. Anyway, there are still many powerful female table tennis players in China who are not lacking in her. I think the reason why their coach wants Sun Yingsha to win is that she is a second-generation official from China with a strong background.
@@Myr_rha Agree with you. Recent years the association of TT in China is trying to attract more young people to live the sports by idolize the player, like a pop song star or such. The main reason for more cheers for Sun is because fans create CP (couple pairing) or shipping of Sun and her mixed table tennis partner, Wang Chuqin. They think their interaction on and off the court is cute so fans are leaning on Sun more in that finals. But regardless, as a Chinese, I am happy for the gold and silver medal achievements and that finals match was a banger to watch.
This is the same team that ignored the winner of the walk marathon and left her without a team because the favorite was disqualified, so they left the only Chinese player still in the race, to win gold and be greeted by no one on her team.
What did they expect ? Her to willingly lose ? ... Instead of feeling sorry they need to remind there young bloods that if they wanna be the champion they have to beat the best ...
Bruh I'm a Filipino and I'm so hyped for both women while watching their match... I don't care what race or where you belong... I just admire greatness. 💙💙💙💯🔥🔥🔥
@@Monkey341False comparison. In those examples you gave those people are usually compared by fans in their own country. This is on a GLOBAL stage, so one would think the love for your country outweighs how you feel about your “favorite.” And besides, the weirdest part of this whole thing is the fact that people think she hindered the guys career! How is that possible??
This reminds me of something. Back then, in the race walking event, there were 2 Chinese female athletes, whose situation was not much different from the one in the video. One of them was just a peacemaker. So she was not considered. But in the competition, the peacemaker won the gold medal. Sadly, there were no supporters to cheer for her victory. I forgot what year the Olympics were and the names of the athletes.
She is an absolute legend ❤ This is her 2nd consecutive gold, even in Tokyo, she had defeated same opponent 😊❤ Beauty with some amazing talent ❤ I would have definitely supported CM❤
I have experienced something very similar to this and it hurts so bad. In these situations, we must keep our head down and try our best. Finally I won and shut all the haters up.
They also did the same with a gold medalist who was supposed to be a supporting runner for another chinese runner for a marathon, but ended up getting gold and got shunned. I am not surprised. There is an expectation and if there is a deviation people are very critical and discouraging. You see them do it in everyday life, so not surprised to see that culture in sports.
If you go back to the 2000 olympics womans walking race. The chinese pace setter actually won the race. But because the chinese favourite got DQ the rest of the team including coaches left the stadium thinking she can't win. She entered the stadium to no one from China being there. Not even a flag to wrap around her like most winners do.
yes u got it right, kinda same situation here but Go Yo Rim was fan's fav there the older one, but Chen Ming is NOT.. but I don't remember who had won there, was it Na Hee Do
It’s like if Kobe and Tim Duncan played 1v1 for the gold medal. One player’s more popular so the crowd cheers more for one than the other. Not that hard to understand
I was watching this live, I thought that the chinese would be very happy because they'll be happy no matter who wins. But there were so many people cheering for Sun Ying Sha and not many for Chen Meng. Felt bad for Chen Meng and I started supporting her even more. If two people from my country were playing like the way did, I would scream and cheer for each and every point. Sun Ying Sha played really well but I am glad Chen Meng won. So many fans were very disrespectful to Chen Meng, she is representing their country and I still don't get why so many were disappointed. Anyways congratulations to Chen Meng on the well deserved gold 👏.
I am NOT surprised they would treat one of their own like this. You worked hard to get to this point, go for that win, regardless of what they think of you....I'm happy for her.
Actually I went on and investigated a little. She is a beast in TT. And won three Olympics including 2024. Her opponent met her last Olympics where she defeated her. Yes...she is the most powerful TT player.
As a chinese that uses chinese tiktok I am severely disappointed in those that do this. If they want to do this please go to the idol sections and not sports, do they even know the word sportmanship? This is absolutely disheartening to see
No one is hating on her or booing her. She's just not getting as much support as the other athlete. People are entitled to have different opinions and support whoever they want. If i saw someone with 5 years of experience going up against someone with 15 years of experience i would also love to see the underdog outperform the more experienced player but that doesn't mean i harbour any animosity against the other person.
There have been other cases like this with China supporting only 1 athlete in that specific sport and the less popular/supported athlete won yet not celebrated.
I think the biggest reason why they were cheering for sun ying sha is because she lost against Chen meng in the last olympics, and sun ying sha is I guess more popular amongst Chinese people- But great job to both of them! Winning silver and gold for China!

You get the same vids i do
The crowd actually had the opposite effect on the athlete they were cheering so hard for.
This is called performance anxiety.

I know you are a paid propagandist or just boosting your social credit score, but this comment is wild. Neither of these women are remotely attractive 😂 I mean, keep doing your “I love China” routine but come on bro
Do you agree?
They have already competed in so many matches in China, and it is certain that they will find each other's weaknesses to attack each other. If Sun Yingsha is so easily found weak and defeated by opponents, she might as well retire now. Anyway, there are still many powerful female table tennis players in China who are not lacking in her. I think the reason why their coach wants Sun Yingsha to win is that she is a second-generation official from China with a strong background.
@@GREATLFGwhere?
@@Myr_rha Agree with you. Recent years the association of TT in China is trying to attract more young people to live the sports by idolize the player, like a pop song star or such. This brings a lot of revenue to support the sports. Sun is the female star they are trying to build and loosing is not looking good for that goal.
Did sb already disclose? There involves huge sponsors n money in commercial ads contracts if SUN wins, but not CHEN. People guess the coach team was also part of the SUN camp n that's why the whole team just sat there after the match, all black-faced n unmoved. It has nothing to do with capability n age,nor jealousy.
Bro i saw that match and i was like "what- why act like this" they both are great and both deserved top
I was watching archer it's was Korean vs Korean in the final. The Korean fans did Cheer for anyone until the game was over, that was a proper respect for you countryman.
LOL! If any country on earth had a horrible reputation for bad sportsmanship, it's fucking South Korea. Of all the examples to compare to, you picked them?
It's no surprise. It's a proven fact that Chinese don't know how to behave. Whether it's being rude and disgusting while traveling or toxic sports mentality, this type of thing happens all the time.
They Chinese and other nationalities cheered for both of them> only the other one received a LOUDER cheer.

If she can't beat her then she needs to train harder. You earn gold not have someone just give it to you. you should support both women and the winner also deserves praise bc she just got gold for china. imo china is weird for this
happy for Chen Meng
The main reason for more cheers for Sun is because fans create CP (couple pairing) or shipping of Sun and her mixed table tennis partner, Wang Chuqin. They think their interaction on and off the court is cute so fans are leaning on Sun more in that finals. But regardless, as a Chinese, I am happy for the gold and silver medal achievements and that finals match was a banger to watch.

Really? If that’s the reason, it’s so superficial (and cruel towards the winner)
Toxic😅😅
This is the same team that ignored the winner of the walk marathon and left her without a team because the favorite was disqualified, so they left the only Chinese player still in the race, to win gold and be greeted by no one on her team.
You know the history, I remember the athlete was in tears, and nobody paid any attention to winning the gold medal
This happens in Chinese idol groups too.
What did they expect ? Her to willingly lose ? ... Instead of feeling sorry they need to remind there young bloods that if they wanna be the champion they have to beat the best ...

Chen Meng is one of the OGs of table tennis. I was supporting her at the stadium ❤
Who got the Gold , is all that matters to the winner. The crowd can look disappointed all they want, they are the losers.
Watched it live, noticed their cheers, and almost laughed my ass off in the end.
Me seeing this “ I just love the face of disgrace “ 🤣🤣
"You won the gold in the Olympics? Your are such a disappointment for your country."
Someone with a perfect social credit score, probably.
She is an absolute legend ❤ This is her 2nd consecutive gold, even in Tokyo, she had defeated same opponent 😊❤
Beauty with some amazing talent ❤ I would have definitely supported CM❤
😂 they're so cold. If they don't like you, they hate you
Showing the Chinese team’s reaction is a little misleading. They have to stay neutral expression because both are their own teammates.
But the majority were NOT expressionless. They were cheering and grinning all over their faces
You know that the country is good when they’re treating the players like football clubs instead of their nationality because they’d dominate anyways
Chinese people cheer both! Mengmeng and Shasha both wonderful team player! Chinese love both of them♥️♥️💞💞
Right after that he was escorted off the court by two men in suits and sunglasses
I have experienced something very similar to this and it hurts so bad. In these situations, we must keep our head down and try our best. Finally I won and shut all the haters up.
Chen Meng won 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medal, 2024 Paris Olympics gold medals and mixed doubles gold medals as well, Chen Meng ❤
Trust me it only happens in Asia.... Asian competitiveness , fan base , and favourism is immaculate
typical american shallow comment.
Who are you
Chen Meng, you won't see our comments. But we applaud you for your win 🥇 👏 👌
Sometimes shutting the crowd up is better than getting their cheers
If you go back to the 2000 olympics womans walking race. The chinese pace setter actually won the race. But because the chinese favourite got DQ the rest of the team including coaches left the stadium thinking she can't win. She entered the stadium to no one from China being there. Not even a flag to wrap around her like most winners do.
They're both guaranteed a medal. Weird flex by China.....

Asia? No, no... China.
I’m American, and I’m proud of them both. There’s so little daylight between gold and silver. They’re both awesome’
They're jealous of that pretty girl ... Jealousy the bane of society.
Which video are you talking about? There were no pretty girls in this one.
Even the disrespect to other countries comes down to their own people lmao

yes u got it right, kinda same situation here but Go Yo Rim was fan's fav there the older one, but Chen Ming is NOT.. but I don't remember who had won there, was it Na Hee Do
It’s like if Kobe and Tim Duncan played 1v1 for the gold medal. One player’s more popular so the crowd cheers more for one than the other. Not that hard to understand
Nobody would criticize Duncan for trying to win and normal people cheer for the winner out of respect, even if it's not your favorite choice.
My dad said it was cos a lot of girls thought Sha Sha was cute like a little boy, that's why they went for her

I am NOT surprised they would treat one of their own like this. You worked hard to get to this point, go for that win, regardless of what they think of you....I'm happy for her.
Congratulations Chen Meng 🏅👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉
Actually I went on and investigated a little. She is a beast in TT. And won three Olympics including 2024. Her opponent met her last Olympics where she defeated her. Yes...she is the most powerful TT player.
How can someone even hate Chen Meng...jst cant believe it ....she is such a nice person
That’s why the crowd have such responses
Yep, that also happened on the power walking. The pace walker won and China didnt care. Crazy...
Chen Meng congratulations.....hold your head up high, you are a warrior.
I think the biggest reason why they were cheering for sun ying sha is because she lost against Chen meng in the last olympics, and sun ying sha is I guess more popular amongst Chinese people- But great job to both of them! Winning silver and gold for China!
It's common everywhere. It's the same country but still there's that one player everyone always likes more😂😂
