- Smart Summon brings us closer to a future where your car picks up you, not the other way round.
Introduced in our V10 update, Smart Summon is designed to allow your car to drive to you or a location of your choosing, maneuvering around and stopping for objects as necessary.
Smart Summon works with your Tesla app and your phone’s GPS to operate. You must be within approximately 200 feet (61 meters) of your car. Availability limited in certain markets.

Yes, but actually no.
The car trains itself from experience using self improving algorithms. At a certain point, those become so complex not even the engineers really understand how the system works.
Two very well documented examples of this are are Google Translate (which created it’s own intermediary language to assist in translation. The language was completely indecipherable.), and CZcams and it’s algorithm (the reason the CZcams algorithm can be funky is because the engineers don’t exactly know how it works. They can make tweaks which they think will cause a certain result, but they have to see the algorithm work to be sure.)
Edit: The code for smart summon is likely not at that point yet, the current full version Autopilot however very possibly is.

Shokase if my car had this feature I’d only use it if it’s raining because you should be able to see the car so the idea of the car being summoned to you if it’s parked a few blocks away isn’t possible, at least not yet.

Taycan charges slower, has less range and costs 3-4 times more.

@@mohannadrayan6782 probably not. We are in stage 2 or at the beginning of stage 3 of autonomous driving (I think that's correct). There are 5 stages, last one is that the person in the car doesn't even has to exist there to drive. Many specialists say that it will take 10 to 20 years to get to a good 4 or 5, so don't get your hopes up.
20 years from now we'll look back at these huge milestones in technology and think to ourselves, "I remember the days when it was a big deal if a car could drive itself a few feet". We're living in what our future generations will call the technological revolution. So breathe it in, because 40 years from now our grandkids will ask us of this era we lived in. And how simple and gentle it was.
There aint gonna be a need for grandkids if these life extension Technologies pop up in the next 30yrs which they probably will

Love Smart Summon. Would love to be able to in the APP to draw a line to suggest a path to direction while still utilizing sensors, radar and cameras to validate path. Seemed to me it would be a lot more efficient.

My car does the same thing. Right now, smart summon is Dog Mode, where the dog is driving the car. It has no idea what the logic of the parking lot is.

@Matthew Jenkinson, if the timing is just right, drivers backing out of those parking spaces could hit the Tesla since they only expect a car approaching from the opposite direction. If the Tesla accelerates abruptly to avoid being hit, who's to say it won't hit a pedestrian or dog popping out from behind another car? It could all happen at once.
Driving the wrong direction simply shouldn't be done, but of course some people do it anyway. My friend's car had body damage in such a case.

This is an early beta, in that it seems to drive safely enough to not crash, but not necessarily conforming to social norms like driving on a certain side in a carpark. It'll improve, just as it has since it was introduced.

Of course one 30 second walk won’t do much but every day in some way shaped or form we are advised to walk that extra little bit or park your car further away and if you get into the habit of doing that everyday for a year that’s when it starts to make a difference
National Socialist Squad I completely agree with you, i don’t think it would cause a mass wave of unemployment for valet as hotels have their owns parking spaces and cars are yet to drop off you somewhere, drive off place themself in a car park. I think in the long run though it could definitely cause some form of unemployment.

--Show all charging stations, not only Tesla Supercharger. e.g. IONITY 350kW/FastNed...
--Waypoints for navigation
--Battery "percent SOC" / mileage" quick toggle - or show both at the same time
--Navigation specify desired Charge Level at destination

We just need to see how such features perform in real life before blindly allowing such tech. Imagine if pedastrians get run over by these teslas... I was at an EV car show the weekend before last. Someone was demoing the basic summon feature and an old man started yelling frantically trying to get people's attention because he thought the car was rolling away by itself.

I love this feature. Imagine this car brings you to a police station after someone tried to steal it. xd
Now we need a new option where Tesla roams around and park by itself in the free space.
And a function where it gets to yell at someone in a heavy accent. I would prefer something like french or German. Thus allowing the bad driver know how it feels.
