    I’m a 43 year old white man and have been a liberal my entire life. The left has slowly been losing me since 2016. I recently got divorced (from a super woke left wing woman whom I lost a ton of respect for the last 7 years, for a myriad of reasons. Our two sons and the way she chooses to raise them being the main factor)…
    Then in May I broke my arm while working. So I had about 5 weeks where I was unable to work with quite a bit of time on my hands. Went down a few rabbit holes.
    The Daily Wire has turned me!
    This speech in particular and the q and a afterwards sealed the deal and proved to me y’all aren’t nuts. The opposite in fact. Just logical, loving Americans who don’t want to see our entire country turn into Portland, Oregon. (I grew up there and won’t even bring my boys near it these days)
    I sincerely thank you for your calm, rational discourse. I know I finally just fell into my typical demographic. But I will be proudly spreading the word. Cheers from Oregon. (Don’t worry- I’m well over an hour outside of Pee-town now😅)

      Yeah, Portland isn't as bad as it's made out to be. There are plenty of decent neighborhoods without tent cities. I'm on the east side of the state now, and I prefer it, but travel back for live music often.
      The protests always have the same effect in my opinion. The more Fox or commenta like yours dissuades tourism, the better.
      These people got it all wrong. All they're talking about is negative or what they don't like about the democratic party. Grow up and go meet some new people with different perspectives and find relatable interests or shut up.
      We should be finding ways to solve problems.
      Funny how this guy transitions from welfare bad, to God and love good.

      @@----Jay---- That strikes me as well, brings to mind several points. The first is that movements like our American civil rights, tend to not know when to die after the fight is over. I've spent a lot of time learning about organizations that fought for homosexual marriage trying to keep going after our supreme court ruled once and for all in their favor. Their work was done and they eventually had to dissolve. Another point was the exaggeration of political talking points and the actual creation of social issues by politicians who need to create a threat in order to get elected. Our major problems pale in comparison to histories issues, yet each new political figure has something they rail on about for hours as though it is an existential threat. They have to stir up emotion to gain support because every one of their rivals does the same. We have revolutions going on that are meaningless because there are so few revolutions that actually require that level of action or emotional investment.

      Do you know than Andrew Klavan is a Completed Jew? Imagine for a minute, growing up Jewish. As a friend said, "The Jews of Jesus's time were good monotheists", so Jesus saying He also is God must have been terribly confusing.
      Now, after millennia of Jews being enslaved, persecuted, it seems to me that leaving Judaism (not completely, as the Bible must be read as a whole. Old & New Testament), but the cultural things, a deeply ingrained identity as a Jew... I think Andrew is so wise, yet humble. I'm so happy that he knows & loves Jesus.
      You might want to start with Love. Obviously John 3:16 is a key verse. People need to know Who God is, Who Jesus is, before they're told to run and repent to, who? God? A priest?
      So many problems with ,"confrontational evangelism". But if you must do it? People need to know first that they are loved by God.

    14:04 We've lost sight of the original meaning of the term "snowflake". Snowflake does not mean "hyper-sensitive",- although many snowflakes are just that.
    No, the term "snowflake" refers to a person who is laboring under the delusion that they are, in some way, one-of-a-kind special (i.e. every snowflake is unique) and that the rest of the world should treat them as such.
    In truth, they are one-of-a-kind... but so is everyone else and therefore the snowflake isn't special at all. You don't treat one snowflake differently than the rest. You have to shovel all of them off your driveway the same way.

      @@nicnaimhin2978 So u think he is just unaware? Or that he forgot?? About the wealth tax cuts u & I pay for?? See this guy spins a big tail about ‘socialists taking ur money & giving it to others’ yet we live in a capitalist society, not something that change into socialism due to one budget decision over another. Everything in our society is funded by taxation. Infrastructure, social security, law enforcement, fire suppression just to name a few. These decisions that r based in budgeting choices (where & how to spend the tax revenue collected) do not flip our chosen economic system from capitalism to socialism. As well, he never mentions the PPE loan forgiveness given to wealthy business owners…..even members of Congress on both sides, including Republicans. Nor does he mention the wealth tax (not all tax brackets, just the top) being reduced to a historical low by Trump. Do u imply he isnt aware that in basic economics, when one group saves another pays? That he isnt aware that cutting revenue is just as costly as any program funded?? See its the low hanging fruit that keeps this nonsense repeated. People easily relate spending with ‘buying’ a product or service & not spending as ‘saving’…..but in the economic reality on a macro scale, the organization of resources within a community, cutting revenue is not ‘saving’ money nor is allocating a certain return to tax payers through services rendered a form of socialism. The entire lie is based on an over simplified ‘balance a checkbook’ or ‘family budget at home’ myth that convinces voters we can run the U.S. economy & country like a grocery budget. In this fairytale, the GOP will reduce government spending & u will pay less tax. But even if we ignore the fact that the U.S. cant b ran like a local lemonade stand, this basic premise still fails. Businesses NEVER reduce revenue. They will re-direct it to other departments or choose to save for a rainy day, but they never say ‘Oh the cost of beef is down this month so we r going to lower the cost of our burgers….’ They know that later when costs go back up, the customer will not b happy to pay more or to see a price hike.
      The goal is not to pay less in tax, its to get the best return on that investment. They can either give our tax money to wealthy corporate owners in the form of loopholes & incentives or they can invest into the area of society that most of us live in, focusing on the majority in place of a tiny minority who has leveraged power through corporate lobbying interests.
      I say he is a liar because he is aware of this & chooses to mislead his audience. I call him a bigot because he promotes biblically sanctioned hate against a minority group, the gay community.

    People who are chronically on welfare tend to resent those who pay for it, because the resentment justifies them in taking it. People are generally more angry at those they have wronged than those who have wronged them. And it's a different kind of anger, much more intense, and hard to rid oneself of. It's relatively easy to forgive someone who has wronged you, but impossible to feel good about those you have wronged or are wronging, unless you stop and are sorry/repentant. And every able bodied person who takes welfare, without sincerely seeking a job, MUST feel resentment toward the society who gives it, in order to be comfortable taking it. This explains so much of what you see in society now, and I believe the leaders who instigated massive welfare programs understood this effect and are using it to bring our society down, and under their power.

    I've had a conflict with the Ten Commandments as well. I couldn't see how you could make this the basis for the law. How could you outlaw coveting or force one to honour their parents? Then I realised that it wasn't meant to be the law of the land. It was meant to be a guideline on how to live your own life. Even an atheist can do it if they see the idea of God as being the personification of truth. Now, the Ten Commandments make sense to me.

      @indonesiaamerica7050 Před 10 měsíci

      It was the law of the land for the followers of Moses "...until Shiloh come." It makes perfect sense for these outcasts to form their own civilization and "rule of law" code. Jesus didn't refute anything Moses wrote. What he did is add layers of personal responsibility to show where imperfect humans ruin the law by exploiting it against others and not living up to it themselves. Nobody in the Bible ever said that the Ten Commandments as written was to apply outside of the Tribal kingdoms AKA 'promised lands' as they were asked to "go in to the world". But one critical thing from the Ten Commandments is that liars destroy. It's better if everyone is afraid to lie at any time. If their conscience scolds them when they sin.

    I'm 65 and wisdom doesn't always accompany age. I was Jew brought up Catholic and I was called a Christ killer and got the bejesus kicked out of me many may time. There was no place to run to. It made me stronger. As far as wisdom goes, I only pray I have some. Pride cometh before the fall. I was just diagnosed with cancer and November and December are going to be hellish from according to the doctors, but I wouldn't even consider taking my life.
    The Catholic church calls it the double death. To throw away the gift of life. It's like spitting in God's face.

    Who would have ever imagined that in 2019 at American prestigious Universities, saying a man is not a woman is controversial, let alone that such things as infanticide and Socialism are a morally & intellectually superior stance? We need a new definition for true intelligence.

    I was at a dinner party yesterday and a young family was there that claimed to be socialists. LOL LOL They didn't like where they lived because it was not diverse enough. Of course it is a city in what I call the Frozen Tundra. Most humans really don't care to freeze 10 months out of the year. But I digress. Just an FYI, the husband is a principal of a school there. Please, please, know your teachers and principals before you send your kids to spend 8 hrs a day with them. Please. They were complete and utter morons, teaching your children.

    • @jelkel25
      @jelkel25 Před 4 lety +2

      The "not diverse enough" speech is hot air parrotted nonsense. I've lived in several major highly diverse Liberal cities and the same thing happens every time. The leftist intelligencia never live in the multicultural paradises they create. They either move into an area (usually before they have kids) enmass, gentrify it, which drives up property prices and drives out the "ethnic" community then they play Hipsters like said community is still there. As soon as they have kids they don't want to send them to the shitty leftist multicultural schools they voted to create so they move to suburbs, as white as possible to get a better school or they go private then start whining about how white the place is hoping everyone is too stupid or indoctrinated to notice their hypocrisy.

    Truth isn't easy and freedom isn't pretty, but the one is simple and the other, beautiful. Our founders gave us this cool document, the Constitution. They never promised us a rose garden, only said, "Here it is. Try to keep it.". Andrew Klavan is showing these young people why that is and how to deal with it. My gratitude to this good man and those who are doing the same for our American youth.

      Freedom is beautiful, *if you understand it as they did*
      The founders didn't believe freedom meant "do whatever you want so long as you aren't hurting me" they believed it was "the ability to do that which is right, even when others don't want you to"

    One last comment. I've been studying the Constitution and Congress for a while now and our Founding Fathers and the first Continental Congress was filled with wise men who read and understood Aristotle, Plato, St. Thomas, new all the Greek classics, the rise and fall of Greece and Rome and above all, the Bibleand of course the wisdom of their trusted wives. John and Abigail, James and Dolly and many more. Read those letter.

    Andrew had some funny lines, yet hardly anyone laughed (I nearly fell on the floor). But I am 77 and lived in a time when humour (English spelling, deal) was everywhere. The thing is that humour lightens life's inevitable suffering- it's no coincidence that so many Comedians are Jewish. Lighten up, guys. Life is too tragic to be taken seriously. This was a great lecture,

I said the same in the Nam 1968 to a friend who was complaining about the monsoon weather, I said, how would you like to be in 33 degree's below zero and no warmth, little food, and people trying to kill you at the same time, he looked up into the sky and said ..."Let it Rain"...he became my best friend.
