And the sadder thing is she displayed her inturnal struggles for the world to see as in a interview once, the more she was struggling, the higher and bigger she would wear her hair to take the focus off her internal hurt.

It's the rush of endorphins from the injury that gives you a sense of relief and lightness, numbness.
Frustrations and emotional pain just become overwhelming and too much to bear, and by "taking it out on yourself" it gives a brief illusion that things are still under your control.

I come from a family of addicts. My first wife was an hardcore alcoholic, and when i say hardcore i mean no disrespect to her. She just could not get passed it. I know for a fact she loved me more than life itself and during our 22 yrs of marriage she was in and out of rehab, alcoholics anonymous , psychologist and doctor (medication). So it was not because she didnt want to. She managed a year in sober living but when she got out it wasnt long. Doctors and psychologist are the worst. There answers were always "just quit".
To the point they made her cry. Looking back i think if we would have been able to have a long distance marriage ( Ca. To Hi.) For a very long time, sober living was the answer. On Nov. 11th 2011 my wife took her life. I later found a letter that basically pointed to her guilt about the damage that was happening in our marriage as the reason. At one point we separated and i had a short relationship with another woman who didnt drink but was 100 more damaging to my mental state that i made a decision to stay with my wife regardless simply because at the end of the day, I knew i meant everything to her. My point is, its like Cancer and thats how we need to look at it. GOD BLESS MY WIFE, TAMMY, AND GOD BLESS AMY WINEHOUSE....

I was with my alcoholic partner for8 years I found her dead in bed 2 months after her 40th birthday, even though I walked thru fire, heaven and hell to save her she just could not stop the drink, she could never put the genie back in the bottle , when she was sober she was stunning, beautiful, intelligent, loving, sincere, when drunk, take all that away like a demon, always threatening me, ranting down the phone 24/7 then she played me against other men she seemed to meet at rehabs, and they attached them selves to her, the whole rehab racket and that’s what it is a highly funded money making racket, none of them work, you can buy booze everywhere , even in a petrol garage you cannot escape it,it’s all around us,. My loss made me blame myself, I should have, could have , would have tried so much harder, my guilt trip put me on the verge of a mental breakdown,I’m now on anti depressants for life it would seem I am maybe addicted to them I don’t know, when I hear back to black it makes me break down, dunno why, just hits me to the core, but it’s like a magnet, and I have to hear it all the way thru,.I don’t drink my self, it’s poison, addictive does your body no good, it turns wimps into superheroes, they become prize fighters, every Saturday night, I managed to get level headed to a degree I was dreaming about her, seeing her, hearing her I was haunted by here, but it was all in my mind, but sadly due to anti depressants I’m now a cold fish, have no emotions, my new wife has helped me ride the storm, if there was anything else I could have done, meeting advisors, rehabs, hospital stays on the mental ward for her, detoxing at home with a whole team coming in everyday, they gave her a daily breath test and if she passed the treatment would continue for another day but at the end of it all the lure of the drink was all she lived for, we try to find the trigger and we reckon it was the loss of her dad at 14 and that’s when it began finding her lying on her dads grave after going missing, I’d never wish my past life on anybody at all, you have to have gone thru it to believe it, and to survive it, se craved to see her dad again and I think she believed that if she died she would see him again, my friend I’ve been thru hell myself, you,re not alone , we,re not the first and we,re not the last we just get left behind

I’m so sorry. I am an addict as well. We have the BIGGEST hearts- I truly do believe it. I think many people who struggle are extremely misunderstood. Everyone I know who bad battled addiction, is very similar in certain ways. And the guilt- it hurts us so bad, to know we are hurting those we love. I know it did for me, that’s the part that almost did me in too. The shame. I’m so sorry. I wish there was a better way. And our society was kinder and more understanding. We’ve failed and lost so many. Sending you love and peace. Don’t be too hard on yourself. She knew you loved her. Sometimes on our hard days, it sneaks up on you. I’ve been there myself- thank you for loving her how you did. That you don’t often find. ❤ She knew how much you loved her

Why was Amy so self-destructive and messed up? Did it have anything to do with her upbringing? Her parents? No one seems to ask these questions in this bio. According to Dan Wooton, it's a 'mystery'. The parents need to be scrutinised!

I know what you mean, nobody seems to ask these questions. I was self destructive and addicted to drugs and I had a good upbringing. My problem was undiagnosed autism and adhd. And it’s very common for people with undiagnosed autism/adhd to turn to drugs. I’m not saying that’s the case for Amy, just that it’s not always due to our upbringing.

It's ironic that the biggest album of her career for the tragic breakup of her relationship with Blake who she called her epic love.
After that album she couldn't find her footing complained she couldn't write and then her fear became the catalyst to her long struggle with alcohol and drugs.

Sid Griffin, in discussing the ultimate irony of AW’s “Rehab”, states he might be “in a party of one” regarding the overwhelming subtext of her song. Further, he postulates, that “everyone under 30 considers themselves indestructible; invincible.”

I was married to a man who had so many addictions, he would sometimes switch addictions. He would stop gambling but would start taking hard drugs, then the sex addiction, alcohol, purchasing gifts for me (when he had wronged me, and I had no idea that was what it was). He had them ALL and amazingly kept it all a BIG secret. I thought he and I were a beautiful Catholic family. I was one of his addictions. He went to rehab twice. I, finally, found out about the escorts, he gambled away 2 million dollars, taking my children’s college money. I was OUT! I knew I was going to leave but I wanted to get him clean for the children. I left him when my kids were 5 and 7. They are now 23 and 25. He never changed. I took them far away, got them through college. They would ask about what happened and I told them that I would tell them when they were old enough to understand. I hoped they would never ask the hard questions but I told them through a counselor a few years ago. I wouldn’t wish any of it on my worst enemy but I missed the flags. They were there

If you google his name, professional poker player comes up. If he wasn’t a father, that would’ve been fine. It just wasn’t a great recipe for fatherhood. He married a girl in her 20’s with 4 kids from different fathers. They divorced 4 years later bc she was having an affair with the pool guy, taking him on trips while he watched her kids. Then he kidnapped my son at 15. Detectives in Dallas threatened to put him in front of a grand jury. I hired an international lawyer and got him back. My son and daughter live in Europe, where I live. I thought about writing a book about what happened but I just want my children to live a normal life. Thank God, they’re great kids. I didn’t know if I was going to survive the whole ordeal but you find strength and I then I thank God that they didn’t have a lot of interaction with him. Now, they’re adults and they can decide on their own what kind of relationship they want to have with him. They know he is still in his addictions, and have tried but I think they are a little uneasy bc they say it is embarrassing and hard to explain his creepy behavior. His addictions made me the complete opposite so that my children had stability. I am happily married for 17 years and counting so my kids had a stable home but this life is definitely worthy of a movie, soap opera, or just a story to let another woman know that she can see it and change the direction of her (and their) lives. It is part of getting clean. But, I stopped him bc he couldn’t have hurt me and mu idea of having a family more than he had already. He is still in his addictions.
