The second one seems a bit wobbly/unsteady at times, making me think the combine thing controlling the strider isn't quite used to controlling a strider
That or the combine has enslaved the strider shortly before this game takes place -> they have not figured out completly how to modify them the way they want. The strider in HL:A "talk" a lot more then the ones in HL2
the striders are a clone race, the combine scanned another race and replicated it to make the striders, the construction striders, aka the wobbly ones, are imperfect striders
@@Salerias Striders were already part of the Combine when they came to earth. These striders were modified for engineering, they're called contruction striders, that's why they're different. They have that stuff on their legs to allow them to climb buildings.
I got my Uncle to try this game in VR and he is a die hard Half Life fan. And i can tell you that he nearly shit himself when the strider almost stepped on you.
Man playing this in VR is something else. Ive never been as awestruck as i was during the first encounter. Grew up playing source games, specifically gmod and HL2, so to then see one in Full scale 13 years later was insane. This game is great, and is also an amazing introduction to VR.
Exactly how I felt, it was amazing... HL:A is one of the greatest gaming experiences I've ever had, it's kind of sad that I've forgotten most of it since it felt like some sort of weird dream, but I suppose that only means I get to re-experience it someday!
the striders are probably the most or not. a very interesting species. they look like the martian fighting machines from the war of the worlds. (aka tripods.) they are literally creatures themselves. and they have something similar to a heat ray gun. i really love these striders and i want to know if they were actually inspired by the war of the worlds. and made these tripod like organic machines.
If what I've read from every reply section ever is correct, these striders specifically are used for building matinence and construction or something. Which is why they have those weird leg attachments, so they can climb buildings n shit
they really nailed the creepy gait of a strider with that second scene, scaling a building like it's nothing. it's almost as creepy as seeing them move quickly in a squatted position. (here's a vid of that: czcams.com/video/pZGHD4S0ZAg/video.html )
Look i know why people argue about construction striders being controlled by combine but i will have to explain why You see striders are meant to be an attack synth so since they cant construct the combine will just control them
I don't think the striders are being controlled itself, I think they still have movement and such but are told on where to go and follow orders. Since they can be seen impaling victimes. both are simply a carrier in my opinion with some free movement. The person on top on the construction strider is probably controlling the tools equipped on the strider. For the attack one, it's simply carrying the gun and the gun itself shoots at things. I'm probably wrong but I think striders are simply creatures to hold things. So, they are walking turrets or whatever. They're likely brainwashed and such and is likely told on where to go. Though i think the impaling is done by the strider's own movement and is it loyal to the empire so I'm pretty sure it will use what is has to attack as well. That or they're simply being controlled for every movement, and they were just used as a body, or it can be different for both striders, this one is controlled and the other one is this, etc.
These striders are not meant to attack LMAO, they are designed differently for a reason. The combine worker controls the machine that's on top of the strider, you can see it from the balcony at the very begging of the game.
One strider is used for heavy assault, the other one is a strider used for construction of the citadel, and the worker on top uses the machinery most likely. The strider itself probably isn't using the tools itself.
I don’t like how they sound like freaking transformers, instead of what they are, creatures modified by the combine, which is how they are in half-life 2 and not like robots
I'm really disappointed with the new half life alyx sound effects, they make the headcrabs sound like generic monster noise #831, and now the striders sound like the new combine but with a different voice effect, the original sounds were so unique and had a lot of charm to it that half life alyx just scraps entirely.
