    Gah, I love Albany! When I walked into town from Perth as I was finishing up the Bibbulmun, I was like, "I could live here". So beautiful. Best city in oz imo.

    This video is a pleasant tour, it brought back memories of my visit to Albany in 2009. Great views, beaches, trails and history etc. I patronized the Dog Rock Laundro-Bar; I didn't know then that the Dog Rock name came from a rock that looks like a dog. Camped at Cozy Corner Beach and hiked part of the Bibbulmun Track. Stayed at the hotel overlooking the bay and former railway station; the hotel lounge got rowdy on Saturday night with three police cars on the street outside my window. Memorable fun! Coincidentally I'm currently in Albany Oregon.

      G'day Zane, that video was done in 2012, and in 2022 I did an update - there had been a few changes.

      Man, you couldn't miss Dog Rock, surely LOL. Cosy Corner is well patronised by free camping travellers, I don't know if the ablution block was there then. It's time you came back and had another look. Thanks for the comments, cheers, Laurie.

      You should have Albany on your bucket list. Beautiful harbor , historical small city of 35,000 and not one set of traffic lights.!! Great exchange rate, friendly locals , best value anywhere and don't stress over the long flight. I live in Florida , too easy mate! In a state 4 times bigger than Texas and a population of under 3 million it's just waiting to be visited if only to see the best beaches in the World.

    Albany looks and sounds like really beautiful place. Nice old buildings (Sadly you don't get that where i live, our council got rid of our old buildings many years ago and replaced them with concrete eyesores, pretty much for the sake of 'change') , green hilly countryside, right on the water with nice views of the King George Sound, the weather isn't too hot or too cold. I'd love to go there one day :)

    9:02 "Swimming is permitted at Salmon Holes". Not unless you're crazy! This is a dangerous beach, not at all suitable for swimming, due to a deadly rip here. Many people have drowned here after going into the water from the rocks. Please do not swim here!

    • @lauriekibblewhite
      @lauriekibblewhite  Před 10 lety

      Thanks for your comments. You will note that I did say that the beach was unpatrolled, and that a dangerous current was a "feature", and that extreme care should be taken when fishing. The beach is used by surfers. I agree with you … NOT unless you are crazy :-)

    I've been to every single one of these places and I'm only 14, I've also been to these places more than once and if I'm going to be honest Albany is really boring unless you have lots of money to be able to afford to go to all the new buildings and even the gap costs to look at some water crash up a rock. The only place I absolutely love is Camp Quarrenup, because it's a beautiful places and probably the only place worth looking at, I mean I've even been on the old rusty whale boat that's out there it's so cool to look at and jump off, the water is so blue under it but just watch out for sharks it was just lucky I got dolphins instead

      Thanks for commenting Jess. I am sad that you are so bored with life at such an early age, but believe me, it gets better as you get older and as you learn to appreciate life as it really is. Have a Happy Christmas.

      @@thejessrogers5740 ... I some how felt their was something deeper. I understand what you are looking for, and it WILL happen. I'm 58 years older than you, and I have seen a lot in my lifetime. I have been lucky enough to have spent a lot of my time travelling around this great country we live in, and much of it in inaccessible places. Earlier this year, I travelled to Streaky Bay in South Australia, where they promote a wonderful coast line ... I come from Albany, and have been blown away by West Cape Howe ... and so it was going to take a lot to impress me near Streaky Bay. But I did see one view that made me gasp. The fact is that nature does and produces some amazing things ... all we have to do is recognise them and appreciate them. I saw a lot more on that trip, stuff that hasn't been destroyed by humans ... yet. You are young, and have the potential of a wonderful life ahead of you. Please look at the big picture, and consider how nature created what it did, the history of old buildings and what stories they could tell and the hardships (or otherwise) of the people who occupied them. Try and put yourself in their shoes, and then appreciate how easy we have it today. We learn more sometimes by looking back than we do looking around us. That WOW will come, and when it does, you will appreciate it. Cheers.
