If this is the amount they charge for every imported goods, where do all those monies pass? If the answer is government, why does the government still complains there is money and keep borrowing at the expense of future generations?
I said this because this is just one stream of income for the government. This is greed at the highest level.

I bought 2 iPhones for $1000, I paid $500 shipping through FedEx, it got to Ghana n they also charge me another $500, I have decided to never ever in my life ship anything to Ghana ever again as long as I live. Is a shame what they r doing.

This is so sad!. When people ship stuff from Ghana to people outside the country, the item just shows up at the other persons house. No questions asked!. When someone ships from outside the country to Ghana, the receiver is charged exorbitant amounts before they can get the items. So sad!. As to how they come up with these figures, only God knows. And then we wonder how the country is not moving forward!
In the UK, we do door to door shipping. A box ranges from £80 to £120 depending on size. No more custom fees. And dey deliver at your ghana home
Went through similar thing , vouch to never send anything again lol. It's crazy. Customs took more money than the cost of the items.

This Issues about Import Duties must be address and resolve quickly it affect business people even the more, this huge duties charges is the cause of why things are expensive in Ghana...Why do our close neighboring country like Togo, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire enjoy duty free (not entirely thought) but our own government squeeze the little profit we will make from our businesses...This is not fair at all...At the end of the day, it the consumer that's suffers
Magraheb, the same thing happened to me, during the dumsor last year I sent 5 touch lights and batteries from the States for my family and was forced to pay Gh 1,500 before my things were released at Circle post office.Smh

I shipped a farm tool that cost 215$ for my Dad who's ageing to ease his work for him. I was charged GHC 2320 as duty which was just 3 dollars less than I bought it.
2015 BMW X5, I asked the duty last year, it was 4300 gh cedis, I asked 3 days ago about the duty of the same car, now is 125000 gh cedis.

I got very bad experience with Ghana customs I shipped one used laptop 💻 to my sister for educational purposes I bought the laptop here in uk 🇬🇧 £300 and when it got to Ghana through DHL ghana is asking to pay imports duty same £300 as the value of the item, I asked DHL to ship it back to sender it almost 7 months my item it’s still with Ghana customs 🛃 it very sad

I shipped slippers which cost 150 cedis ,they charge me 120 each of the slippers and 40 each cedis for government tax again and I ask then so how much is this slippers self. I was weak that and regret sending the slippers.

Magraheb, we are waiting for your reaction on the blocking SIM cards. I have already linked my SIM card to my Ghana card and I downloaded the app which I have been trying to register my SIM since September but nothing works. All of a sudden my SIM has been blocked. Here comes the case I'm not also in Ghana where am I going to get an agent or merchant for an assistance in UAE? This SIM cards blocking issue doesn't make sense for some of us.
The way this thing bore me eeerrrhhhh. I even sent my sister to mtn office, she came to tell me they were doing their body someway bi like she's a fraud. Meanwhile those who didn't link their Ghana card are still using their sim😑😑😑😡😡😡

That behavior at the port harbors and custom duties in Ghana are what is bankrupting the country. Our custom duties are far too much to even help those back home. is not helping native Ghanaians overseas to strive. Look at any other nationals in overseas (like Nigerians) their custom duties allow their citizens to bring in goods and sell at cheap prices. It help them to strive. we have to vote for governments who are smart and pro-Ghanaian success.

This why most trotro are old cos if you buy a car from aboard and send it home. Hmm you pay more than the price of the car, and shipping cost.
And the worst is, when auctioning your items, they wldn't even auction it to you the owner, but would sell it at a lower to someone else. Don't know why they don't sell it at that price to the owner or let the owner pay that amount as duty? That doesn't make any sense.
who will pay import duty if the item will be auctioned to you in case you fail to clear your goods on time.
@@kelvinadu3885 The price of the import duty could be similar to the price they are auctioning the goods. Normally, the auction price is way lower than the import duty they are asking you to pay.
