It’s so sad yet very dated and ignorant how we are treated because of the our skin tone. People that treat others with such hatred are having a conflict of self hate within. Hope your friend is okay now and doesn’t feel as terrible still. When I experienced my first -ism it was on board an Air France flight where my luggage being pulled behind me was kicked repeatedly by fellow passengers. I felt terrible for days after. It’s not a very good feeling especially when you don’t challenge it.
Wish you the best on your travels especially as I am poised to live vicariously through you for now.
Oh my gosh I had a somewhat similar experience in Paris this summer. The hotel clerk didn't try to kick me out but she wouldn't let me check in even though my room was ready but would let others. It was so frustrating and ruined my day. She remained rude/cruel to me throughout my stay there and I couldn't wait to relocate to another hotel. I wrote a thorough honest review of my experience but never posted it but now I think I will

Trust me there is always stigma by hotel personnel towards black guests who are booked in 5,4or 3 star hotel...you aren't the first one to experience that, I have experienced it a couple of times here in the Philippines and trust me they do not care to apologise and would even go to the extent of asking you to book another hotel if you are not happy. Hotel stuff should do better in this particular regard, I'm glad you used your platform to spread this awareness.

Wonder which part of Philippines. I enjoyed my experience there. Then again stayed with friends not hotel. Manila too busy, I was in Ilocos, in the province and my friends were scared when I went off on my own on the bicycle to find a beach. They drove there to find me. I made friends with the locals as I went to many places. I cannot wait to go back.
Plot twist. Your father buys the hotel and fires all of them.

I commend you for telling us the truth about the hotel. I will say that some hotels after a certain time at night will ask you to show your room card for security reasons…BUT usually the elevator is just locked and you would use your card to gain access to the room levels. Either way he was dead wrong and just bc you are another minority doesn’t mean you don’t have a bias! This world has so far to go smh. When you go through something like that it truly breaks your heart bc it catches you off guard & you just don’t understand it. 🤍🤍🤍
