      Definitely worth all the sweat! You put in! I appreciate what you’ve done here. I didn’t know why every time I played I was getting no sound in my 5 hole on the draw, so hearing your reference pitch I could tell something wasn’t right. So I took the thing apart and fiddle with the metal tabs on the inside and they were rust shut on some of them and Misbent on others, so after some adjustments I can now play “in the jungle”!! Props my brother!! And I applaud you too, Eunice! Your abilities are astounding!!! Keep up the good play!!!

    Hey bro big sweater here too lol (end of the video) awesome teacher 37 now played guitar started when I was 13 kinda took seriously for couple years then girls happened lol. But never was able to get as serious as I'd like to be due to the fact I've had arthritis from a young age so can only play for tops 1 hour then just couldn't , Would just be frustrated and even the next day my wrist would be inflamed and very stiff, then a my grandfather passed about 3 months ago not covid just old age any way he had a tremelo harmonica and then started messing around just bought and has arrived my first real Horner's key C Harp .so basically just thank you

Yeah, actually I started on guitar as well, I started playing harmonica around 16 or 17, but then got really serious with it after getting repetitive stress syndrome in my left index finger (from over-practicing) which prevented me from being able to play guitar. There's something magical about instruments that are played with the breath, I think. Rock on, my friend!

    Never knew how easy it can be to learn how to play the harmonica. I will be starting when I get my set of harmonicas tomorrow. I've "tinkered" with a couple of them before. But, have never had my own to play. Am just going to be playing for fun and to have something to do with some of my spare time when I'm not in the mood to paint, do needlecrafts, etc. Also, I'm a 52 YO lady who loves doing many different crafts. And, I've often wanted to learn how to play the harmonica. Specially the theme song to "The Walton's" because I always loved watching that series as a child. Is there any way you could make a video on how to play that theme song. I'd appreciate it so much if you can. Keep your videos coming for us all, please. And, thank you so much for this one. It has made me unafraid to "pick up" and add a new talent to my repertoire. 😉

    Hi Luke! Thank you so much for all your awesome videos. I just found out in this video that you get all 3 octaves on a diatonic harmonica. I play (a tiny bit) a 12-hole chromatic harmonica which I hear offers 3 octaves and so far it seems I can play any song on it I want. I mean it seems to support all the notes of any song that's out there and I had a question: If a diatonic harmonica offers all 3 octaves, assuming I learn to produce all the bends/notes on the diatonic, then does it mean it's possible to play any chromatic-playable song on the diatonic as well? I hope I didn't twist the question too much. What I basically mean is does the diatonic support all the notes a 12-hole chromatic supports?

    • @Harmonicacom
      @Harmonicacom  Před 2 lety +1

      Great question. I understand you. I actually have an article coming out soon on this subject. The answer is no. 3 octaves + high C should be 37 notes, but the harmonica has only 19. With bending technique (which takes a lot of time to be able to do well) you get to 31. Then an even MORE difficult technique called overblowing on holes 4, 5, and 6 gets 3 more notes. And then the last 3 notes requires and overdraw technique and special set-up to obtain other overblows. So it IS possible, but it's NOT easy. Howard Levy is the original master of these techniques. The 12-hole chromatic is the fastest and easy way to be able to play lots of chromatic stuff.

    Hi I started to learn to play tremolo harmonica since just last month but I plan to buy maybe just an easttop T800k model. I just request maybe if you can put in the titles the lesson number so that for example a beginner like me could trace the chronological order of what video should I watch first then so on.
    But it is okay if my request will not be granted I will still continue watching repeatedly your videos because it is very entertaining to watch and very informative.
    God bless your channel. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.

    Hello: I enjoy your method of teaching and currently trying to learn the C scale. It is difficult to get the 5 and 7 draw sometimes. What am I doing wrong? Is this normal?

    • @Harmonicacom
      @Harmonicacom  Před rokem

      - yes this is perfectly normal problem that beginners experience. These are the tips for a getting good those high notes:
      1.) Let gravity lower your jaw so that it's totally relaxed and in a nice "aw" vowel shape, your teeth should be far apart from each other
      2.) Keep the back of your tongue down, like it is when you yawn. Make sure it's not in the "Kk" zone (how your tongue is when you say a "Kk" consonant.)
      3.) Nice steady, GENTLE, airflow. Most beginners (and many intermediate and advanced players) use WAY to much pressure.
      Hope that helps! 😎
      Aloha,
      Luke

    Hey Luke .. Sorry for the many question .. !!! it is normal for a beginner to have a sort of feelings on the lip where you put and slide the armonica? I'm practicing every day.. maybe a hour .. and i notice some feelings to my lips .. not pain not bad feelings but some i will call "scrub". .. that's normal... anyway .. i'mm beginning to be able to isolate notes .. thanks to you ,,,

    • @Harmonicacom
      @Harmonicacom  Před 3 lety +1

      Ask away, my friend. Congrats on beginning to be able to isolate notes! Yes, that's normal to have the lips feel a little chaffed after playing for an hour. Depending on the harmonica you're playing, some are more comfy on the lips than others. Plastic combs are more comfortable than wooden combs. Cover plates that hide the reed plates completely are more comfortable than ones that have the reed plates a little exposed. If you're interested in considering purchasing a different harmonica, here is my article about brands: www.harmonica.com/which-harmonica-to-buy/
