Class then, class now. Slade never gets enough air play, save for the few that always get played around Christmas. Most underrated band ever. Trend setters in the 70s and fantastic musicians. Well written and presented songs. Long may they perform.
There were many seriously good musicians in Wolverhampton in the 60s and 70s and Brum tbf.

I grew up in the 70's. A fantastic time as we had the best music
By far!! The 60s music was fantastic and there was still quite a lot of good stuff in the 80s-90s but I would be perfectly happy to only listen to 70s music forever.
And haircuts that took time....
Probably one of the best records of the 70's it is criminal it only reached 15 in the charts
Agree one of Slades best --- how it was not a No1 is strange; it has age well .
When i hear this im transported back to the70s and smile remembering how happy people were and memories of my first girlfriend my flaired trousers and my chopper bike wishni could go back 😊

Great song as others have said, I could really hear John Lennon sing this, fantastic structure to verses, should've been a big hit really.

It was a big hit! UK no 15 and went silver, it was very late in Slade's heyday and they had stopped getting to no1 by then.
Like many great UK acts they could not break the US and had very limited success outside the UK which is a great shame.
John Lennon singing this? Are you mad? Lennon did not have much of a voice, just a dull droan really, and he had no power to do what Noddy does.

@@Zoro007 I do tend to upset people with any criticism of the drab four but keeping it friendly I would say -
The three tracks you list are early belters from the group. As we are here with Noddy Holder I would say Noddy, Meatloaf and Freddie all have depth in their strong voices but Lennon just seems a bit strained and over forced to me.
If you listen to Revolution the intro promises so much and then when Lennon starts singing it is such a disappointment. Noddy would have blown the doors off (like the start of all crazee now) Lennon is just dull singing Revolution.
I find most of what the Beatles do a bit dull and very over rated. Listen without the hype and you will see the light!!

This came up on the 43-track "Best of" album. I guess I miss it first time around. But I love catching up on them all.
Slade were so accomplished as a band, they would have been successful in any decade !
