Look at her confident exuberance. She really knew who she was at such a young age.
1:42 that little riff is so addictive GOD that sounds so COOL
Yeah, it was good. Reminds me of a grunge solo.
ISN'T SHE SO CUTE?!?!?!
That's my favorite part, it keeps replaying in my head. That along with the tasty bass licks makes this band one of my favorites
That vocal run is freakin pretty cool.
@@makeupmakeupmakeup7471... What do you mean be "grunge solo?" Surely, you can't mean the genre, since this is nothing like that?
She's definitely always had music running through her blood. Incredible artist.
It takes a lot of courage to let it rip in front of a crowd like that as a teenager. She's so uninhibited, like she's singing in front of her bathroom mirror.
I KNOW, RIGHT?!?! I've been doing music for over 30 years now and I would die to be that free, not giving a bloody fuck what others think...I'd trade it for almost Anything
She's amaizing
I wish I had that productive lack of inhibition, especially as a teenager when everything felt like it mattered more.
She fart
The second song is pretty funky 😆 It could almost be a natural choice in a hit collection of Björk & the Sugarcubes or something.
her voice and stage presence are far beyond her 16 years at that time. She honestly looks about 12 here. She was/is an unstoppable force of nature.
thpass i wish i had an once of her liveliness
Oh yeah! She's an one girl army ;) Destroyer of systems ;)
Yes.
Beyond beauty and talent💓⭐💓👀😘
Holy shit I basically said the same comment before reading yours hahahahahaa awesome!
I absolutely love the part at 1:42 so much omg
The vocal talent Björk brought to this performance was superior... fantastic timing... vocal strength, clarity and unique timbre... 1:42 definitely stands out.

Pikachu on Island is funny because "pika pika" means "pussy pussy" xD

Me enamoré.. 😍😍🎶🎶🥳😍🥰🤩
The band Björk was in is actually still working today. They took some years off between then and now. Björk is long gone. The other singer, Eyþór Arnalds went on to have a succesful music career with another band Todmobile. But he quit that band to go into politics. He is today in the city council of Reykjavik, and still playing with Tappi Tíkarrass.
What happened to Björk?
@champer slimmerthannone S.T.F.U. dickhead.

YEAH, I LOVE THAT 2ND SONG...LYRICS PLEASE!!!😍
@@Taru1blm she’s a hella known artist now! She went on to have an amazing career and was really popular back in the day
She had that power in her voice even at such a young age. Ridiculous.
I mean she was 16, that's not at all uncommon.
16 is pretty much adult
She looks 12 here
@@kidkiquethis comment right here, officer
@@kidkiqueit’s not pretty much an adult lmao
If someone told me this was a scene from a movie released this year i'd believe it, everything she is involved with is always way ahead of it's time, truly impressive.
This is a case of extraordinarily good parenting. Don't tell a kid they can't do something. Just give them the space to become what they will become and... Bjork!!!! This is a kid that felt loved!
I want to raise my kids this way!!

Ok, Björk was doing in 1981 what "modern" musicians consider to be cool in 2019. Haircut, outfit, the way she sings etc.
Dmn girl is truly a legend!!!
Nina Hagen and Lene Lovich did first, back in the 70's.
b-52s and pylon did stuff like that too as well as others
A sus 56 años, Björk, sigue siendo esa niña hiperactiva y talentosa
how can you possibly be so cool with that age??
Be Icelandic
@@ciarfah Or more precisely - be Björk. Sounds impossible, I know but...there you go.

She is an art, her whole existence
1:18 I love this moment. She s so genuine in here and just enjoying the present moment and doing what she loves.
She's so beautifully weird and strange and fantastic.
I love the way she sings when she's speaking Icelandic. To me it sounds way more fluent and it's not slow or stuttery. But i do and will always love her English songs too
Now I don't know the Icelandic language, but this is like beautiful alien rock. I'm on a different planet now and it's glorious.

They sound like they're influenced by the Talking Heads.
Ya think?
Bjork and David Byrne are 2 of the most ingenious musicians
The talking heads was toxic though and just got lucky.
I was getting much more of a Captain Beefheart vibe.
No really?
you can tell shes a star even in this very early performance, shes just got something.
I love the way she perfectly growls in tune at 1:53
She's has always been a powerhouse. She looks 12 in this and she sounds FUCKING AMAZING!!!!

Jajaja.
She has that sense of freedom when she sings. So beautiful.
Bjork and Kurt Cobain
Strange to hear Björk when she hasn't yet completely developed her famous technique. She's still got a ton of charisma though.
Amen to that ! She's totally mesmerizing !
um, it's there, in the second song. But even funnier to see her without her tattoo!
What do you mean this sounds exactly as full in self expression as anything out now by her

Es una chingonería
Wow, it’s amazing to see that Bjork was pretty much the same as a teenager in the early 80s... such a unique person
Sweet. Bjork was born to be a Star!
I certainly have a notion to second that emotion !!
5:22 and people like "wtf have i watched" 😂

Sam Lockhart ugh it was only 30 some old years ago, most prolly still alive with Icelandic gen z babies
Kommon Senz [MV] they were confused by the beauty that they just witnessed 😂
Such stage presence and that powerful voice at such a young age. Amazing.
She’s producing a performance like this seemingly without monitors - incredible talent
what 18 years old she looks 12. when she was 33 she only looked 15
+Leon Tarkshina shes 49 now and in my opinion she looks 40
+Ben Wass I think she doesn't look like she's any age. She doesn't age, she kinda evolves.
+Leon Tarkshina she was 16 years old in this
+Gunnhild Edwards was she really
+Stephanie grant The film came out in April 1982. Björk was born in November 1965. She was 16 when it came out and it was filmed in the fall so she may have just turned 16 or was about to turn 16.
I'm obsessed with her perfect face

This is why I spend so much time on CZcams. I find so much stuff I totally dig.
Björk’s drumming in the beginning is adorably awful.
Kelly Marie polyrhythmic
@Jonas van Nijnatten Björks whole music is offbeat monkaS
I think it's a kind of Yoko Ono influence, idk.
Well she has always played with weird tempos so
I think that was the point
one of the most pure talent ever. she is the music ,if music was to come to earth and it has as a human it is her for sure. Bjork is the child of music in it most natural form.

I’d like to know how these guys found her - they must have known they had real jewel, not many rock bands would have a young girl in a dress jumping around and singing, but it certainly works
Think they was blown away by the power in her voice 🙏
It's Iceland, I'm sure everybody knows everyone else.
She had already been pretty popular and well known by this age. Her first album came out when she was 7 and it was a big hit.
Don’t forget this was in the punk age where kids just picked up instruments and just created bands and art. Super fun
icelandic B-52's? sounds killer
Bjork is the only modern pop artist that I can think of that has been in music since she was born, what an amazing talent!!!

bjork has got to be the most perfket human alive
Um monstrinho, um Pikachu, que depois se tornou um dos maiores gênios da música! Grande pequena Bjork! Suas músicas não são fáceis de serem escutadas, mas depois que o ouvido se acostuma, fica difícil encontrar algo do estilo...

Her voice is absolutely like no other
Much better than anything on the radio in the last 20 yrs.
that run at 1:42 💕💕💕
That song starts when she opens her mouth.
Yes, really woke me up! Such a songbird!
Someone asked for a translation of the lyrics. The first song I could find online with a translation. But I couldn't even find the lyrics to the second one anywhere. Which is strange, because the lyrics have been quoted many times in articles and elsewhere. Especially the line about the freezer box. Which is an iconic piece of poetry :)
I wrote up the lyrics, as they sound to me. Although the section that comes after the solo is probably just made up words that sound good. In other words: gibberish.
Hristu
Ruggað
Hreistur
í hreinni lind
sjálfs þíns.
Sjálfs þíns,
hræðsla.
Hrakar
Hrakar.
Hrópar.
Ég hef aldrei séð aðra eins frystikistu.

Ég hef aldrei séð annan eins ísskáp.
Farðu í austur.
Vertu hraustur.
Aldrei brestur.
Nagar hreistur. Hey..

Hrjúk hrjúk er rotti hrjúka

Hrjúk hrjúk er rotti hrjúkur

Hrjúk hrjúk er rotti hrjúk-hrjúk
Hrjúk hrjúk er í rotti rjúkur- Ó
Ég hef aldrei séð aðra eins frystikistu.
Ég hef aldrei séð annan eins bíl. Bíl. Bíl. Bíl.
Ég hef aldrei séð aðra eins frystikistu.
Ég hef aldrei séð annan eins ísskáp.
And the translation:
Shake
Rocked [might be a direct translation of the words 'rock and roll']
Scales [like the ones on fish]
in a pure fountain
of your self
Fear
Deteriorates
Deteriorates
Shouts
(chorus)
I've never seen such a freezer box
I've never seen such a car. Car. Car. Car.
I´ve never such a freezer box.
I´ve never seen such a refrigerator.
Go east.
Be strong.
Never fails
Gnaws at scales. (hey)
(solo)
[this section is just gibberish and probably doesnt mean anything]
Hrjúk hrjúk er rotti hrjúka
(hrjúg hrjúg)
Hrjúk hrjúk er rotti hrjúkur
(hrjúka hrjúk)
Hrjúk hrjúk er rotti hrjúk-hrjúk
Hrjúk hrjúk er í rotti rjúk- Ó
(chorus)
I've never seen such a freezer box
I've never seen such a car. Car. Car. Car.
I´ve never such a freezer box.
I´ve never seen such a refrigerator.
[I might note that the word 'hreistur', and 'hreystur' sound exactly the same.
It is possible that the lyrics are playing around with that. 'hreystur' would translate as 'strengthened',
but it is a very uncommon way of saying it. Much more likely that the other translation is more accurate if there is not a double meaning intended.]
