- Forgotten Media: Episode 36
Welcome to another episode of Forgotten Media. There is alot of stuff from different medias that were forgotten and nobody remembers them anymore, and I'm here to show stuff that time forgot.
Ever wondered why Thomas and the Magic Railroad didn't do so good when it was first released into Theater? Well that's because the Director's Cut had a better story that Test Audiences forced them to cut out so many events and changes.
Special Thanks to Mange308 for his little remix of the Runaway Theme from the Thomas Series and Special Thanks goes to SiF for most of the data and research
God I hate the test audiences for cutting out all the great things that could have made this movie unforgettable
Agree
Just a bunch of Karens 😂😆
@@abraham_benson_official True WHY DID THEY EVEN HAVE "TEST" AUDIENCES IN THE FIRST PLACE!?!
@@seardadsdasd IKR!!!!
The movie is still unforgettable... But not in a good way
I'm American and I say parents here are so overprotective with their children nowadays and it's a little annoying.
I'm American too but this Directors cut will never do apparently at the End P.T Boomer and Diesel 10 get Turned to sludge, I don't care about P.T But
Diesel 10 is my Favorite character and he should not meet the end.
Fruitos Dor Diesel 10 is also my favorite character I have the Trackmaster diesel 10 and I had legos so I took of pinchy and I made a Different pinchy out of legos and it work greatly with diesel 10
yeah the moms are trying to play FortNite

Why did the test audiences have to ruin everything
Darwin the southie 2002 The test audiences didn't ruin everything, but they ruined most of it. The only thing that wasn't ruined by the test audiences was George The Steamroller.
It was when Soccer Moms were developing.
Honestly this test screening should've been held in the UK. At least there everyone would've been a lot nicer to the choices originally made. Then again the UK audience would've objected EVERYTHING having to do with "Shining Time Station" so either way something would have to be cut.
Idk
Because they were all entitled Karen’s
This would've been so much better than what we got in the final cut.:(
Indeed. Although I like the final cut I would also like to see the Director’s Cut too. Basically I would just like both. But the Director’s Cut would be interesting.

lol true
Robert Treacy explain
kaza12345678 What I mean is that Series 5 had some of the show's darkest moments.
Clearly, this whole director's cut thing is the main reason why I am defending this movie!
What do you mean
@@NorthWesternRailwayProductions Basically, what I'm trying to say is....is that I want everyone to understand what could've made the movie a lot better and know that it's NOT Britt Allcroft's fault for the movie's box office failure. While I still enjoyed the final cut when it comes to certain elements, but the original workprints would've made the movie a lot better because they had less plotholes and better voice acting for some of the engines. I always had fond memories of Thomas & the Magic Railroad despite its flaws. That's why I'm defending it (whether it'd be the final version or the original unreleased version).
@@TrevortheTrainFan
I love both version of the movie either way but love to see the Director’s Cut
That test audience must've been high.
They need Brain Surgery!
thegoldenbrick1 4:16 there is an upcoming world War 2 thomas movie in 2031 so maybe we can have some( such as 1 or 2)-ideas for #magicrailroadoriginal can be used in ww2 thomas the tank engine film?!
Well it was an American test audience. If it were the UK audience, they would've had more balls to withstand PT Boomer. Then again they probably would've rejected everything having to do with "Shining Time Station".
@@supermariof0521 the test audience was most likely overbearing parents, now shut your uk loving rear before we need to bail you out of another world war
@@soundwave9414 I'm American, but I'm just saying the test screening should've been in the UK since Thomas is a UK property.
I wish someone would release the 2 hour Director's Cut version of the film. But Im happy we have a Japanese Trailer that features P.T. Boomer
SteamKing2160 if the film was meant to be two hours long then how many scenes had the engines in it or was the 25 minutes the actual amount of screen time they have
I am not so sure.
@@mr.minebloxdaylighttwinkle442 where it says that?
As far as Mr. Conductor dying without gold dust, I just watched the movie on DVD, and there are references to it regardless.
During the scene where Mr. C and Lily are camping out, Mr. C says Junior will become as weak as he's become.
When Lily reunited with her grandfather, she said Mr. Conductor was very sick.
Finally, when Mr. C told Junior the magic can't exist without gold dust, Junior points to Mr. C, then himself, then does a cutting motion with his hand that seems to represent death.
That sounded very dark when Junior done that 😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨
woah. I hate whoever was in that test group. some of these things would have made the movie so much more badass!
CeletialDarkness Even if it was used with the directors cut, it would still suck because of its biggest mistake, being a
Shining Time Station movie.
***** Well the reason I say that is because Shining Time Station was kinda irrelevant.
***** But the problem comes from the fact that they focus on Shining Time, and very little on Thomas, sorta like The Smurfs Movie, where they focused way more on some advertising guy who's wife is pregnant, and the Smurfs got thrown in for no reason.
I can see where you are coming from Jacob. But whilst I would prefer to watch just Thomas, when I read the 1999 scripts of the movie, P.T. Boomer was the best character in the whole script. He was so just so dark, intense, badass and awesome! I am feeling annoyed at the test audiences for objecting to him, as well as my favourite TV Series narrator Michael Angelis. P.T. Boomer would have made the movie great, but no, they had to listen to a bunch of people who had NO idea what a good villain was!
Joseph Marrison your right
Test audience: The Russia accent was “Offensive”
Me: (to the Thomas fans) teach them (test audiences) a lesson! TAR THE BASTARDS!!!!
Michael Angelis would have made james sound so much better!
I know because he's not Michael Jackson
R.I.P. angelis 1952-2020
I agree his voice sounded too girly!
@@AlexG-eb3xt and too gay
I guess the reason Alec Baldwin was in the film was because at one point in the 90's alec baldwin was actually the narrator in america.
Specifically in 1998. (I wasn't being rude. I was just saying the exact year.)
+Conner McCloud Your right!
The Phantom Beast and also because Alec Baldwin was once Mr. Conductor in shining time station (the TV series)
Replacing the late george carlin
Yes he was, which might have been why they made him Mr. Conductor instead of either Ringo Starr or George Carlin.
Scottish people are British. you mean he is not English.
Mr. Mineblox / Daylight Twinkle You really shouldn’t pass comment if you are really so ignorant of the facts. England, Scotland and Wales are all countries on the British Isles, aka Great Britain. With Northern Ireland, we are the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. So English, Scottish and Welsh people are ALL British! 🤦🏻♂️. TheSodorRailway is entirely correct.
What if Britt just said "No". "I'm not changing my film". "If I do your changes it will ruin the whole plot"!
Edit: Poorly aged things. My opinion the "Director's Cut" have completely changed.
Because by this time Britt was all about the $$$! She was easily bought and betrayed the Awdry’s!
Now, that would be a brave stand for a film director like Britt Allcroft.
I'm not the only one who loved this as a kid...right?! RIGHT?
I ❤️ This Forgotten Media Review!!!10/10!!
the freight cars were also supposed to have a bigger part in the movie. i also agree that there should b a director's cut of magic railroad on dvd.
I used to own TATMR on DvD when I was 6 and I remember the milkshake scene very faintly unfortunately time passed and it got lost at an old house and I moved away forgetting it.. until now 5 years later im watching these thomas videos and getting this feeling like ive seen it before and it all comes back to me.
that deep australian diesel 10 voice...
jesus that would have been so perfect...
Ikr
I wanted to see Upper Class British Diesel 10 (the first voice) - that suited him better than the eventual New Jersey accent.
Deep Australian Diesel 10 would have been utterly terrifying, which is what you want from a villain really.
Curse you bloody soccer moms!!!!!!!
I wish pt boomer was in the movie
P.T. Boomer would have been a much better villain than Diesel 10.
I refuse to believe anything in this movie could have been scarier than Diesel. Dear god. Childhood nightmares. Just the noises he made kicked me into my fight or flight response. The sharp claw, the evil grimace, the horrible squeaking, the way he could show up any time... Yikes.
Also, Percy was voiced by dub Sailor Moon! I met her at a comic con and she did her Percy voice for a kid. It was really cute.
Why didn't Britt proved the original cut with British Audiences?
I would not approve of it Diesel 10 being my favorite character was goiter to be turned to sludge at the End and that would never do.
It would be be.....
Disgraceful!
Disgusting!
Dispicable
Shining time station
Probably because the film features Shining Time Station, which was never really known outside America, quite prominently. As an Australian (where we got the UK releases of Thomas), I couldn’t understand as a kid why they devoted so much time to STS because I had no idea what it was all about.
The point is a British test audience, whilst probably much more accepting of P.T. Boomer and other “scary” scenes, would have had no idea what Shining Time Station was or why the film featured it so prominently, meaning a lot of the film would be lost on them.
Just a theory of course- suppose we probably won’t ever know.
Magic Railroad, to me, is pretty much the "Crash Twinsanity" of the Thomas franchise because when the film and game were in the production stages, they had a boatload of potential, but they got released, the finished products didn't do so good and the fanbases, for years, have wanted to see a re-released version with all the cut content.
I love Diesel 10, and his New Jersey accent!
BluTackGuy I do too but tbh I kinda wish I could hear the other voices they sounded really menacing
@@mr.minebloxdaylighttwinkle442 I found the Russian accent offensive and raciest

what are those 2 puffball heads up to now?
I think the part when the sundae splashes all over jounior, get rid of the human world parts, and got a better voice actor for James and Percy,AND most of all, put Thomas in more scenes of the movie,it would have been WAYYYY better than what it is now, because I loved the show since I was 5,I'm about to turn 12 and I STILL like it, and pieces of the people when I finally watched it was not what I expected.
Thomas would have a lot more time in the directors cut.
146 minutes? That's long!
The Magical Railroad Directors Cut sounds a bit like Pixar's UP actually O_o
5:38-7:17 P.T. Boomer The Unused Character was Seen on the Deleted Version of The Chase Scene on the Beta (Prototype) Version of the Film. Even Though The Film is The Director's Cut Version that was Never Seen The Light of Day and All we got is The Final Version of the Film. He Was Removed from the Film Because The Company That Made The Film Doesn't Think he is Good Enough for the Cast and Not Available in the Budget.
Actually they thought was too scary for the kids
Man i learned about the directors cut through this video so many years ago, and now the footage has been released. Time has flown
In 2009 a person who was doing a school project for audio dubbing had possession of the original chase scene. He used this as the audio dub project. However doing this he dubbed the whole audio out with music from the 1998 film Dark City. Making it very hard to hear. When fans asked him for a release with clear audio they only got mean and immature responses. In November of 2015 the TTTEArchives found and released the original chase scene with 100% clear audio. This was tribute to Doug Lennox who died in November 2015 before its release. However he did try to do his part in getting the Director's Cut released. We must do our part to restore the magic to get the whole original version of the film released.
Yes me must try! Also SiF have found a rough cut of the film!
+culdee4 where can this rough cut be found?
+Paul F well SiF have it they aren't going to release it though because a) that's illegal b) it's not the proper directors cut and the scenes are badly edited as it is a rough cut
I used to absolutely love Thomas and the Magic Railroad, but now I just find it good. Shame it got cut, but I still admire all of what was put into it.
Darn the stupid test audiences for ruining the movie because the final movie was stupid bazaar insane and very confusing it's right up there with Osmosis Jones, but the uncut version sounds way better because they explain things and the voices for the trains sound better because in the final film there voices sounded annoying and PT Boomer, sounds like an awesome villain too bad the test audiences had to think he was scary but that's what made him so cool but no instead they gave the main villain roll to Diesel 10, this is why i really want to see the uncut version of the movie.
Doug Walker should be proud of this.
But he doesn't like greedy badguys with intentions of Money! ( Explined on disneycember)
Oh.... My bad then.
Maximo Salazar but he'd like the very real motives and great acting . Fonda's acting would seem more real and the film together would be huge yet small because of how personal it was
Every single time a new video that tries to fix the audio on the unused chase pops up, it just fills me with FURY. It's been going on for years, and it just makes me even more angry that the original version of the film never came to life.
We have the original audio now
Ye, saw. Amazing really
I always loved this movie as a kid and Thomas in general. Even though a lot of us are a little old to be watching Thomas now I think we would all like to see a directors cut.
if I got a time machine I go back to the test audience screening to see the TATMR DC
Same
I would have gone back in time and prevented this abomination from ever happening.
I never knew about this until I saw this. Thanks for sharing.
Wow THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS so interesting :D
Where can I find the directors cut? PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
It's currently impossible.
TWR Fan I think the Directors Cut of Thomas and The Magic Railroad is no where to be found because A Few Reasons: 1, The Directors Cut of the film has A Temp Track which means that It is in The Workprint version. And thats the reason why The Directors cut of Thomas and The Magic Railroad can't be on DVD or Blu Ray. Also, Like most of the workprints of the films, It was smashed into a lot pieces after The Teacher gave the Video Clip to an CZcams user for Film Project back in 2009. But on The Bright side, A CZcams user named The Other Railway Productions is currently recreating the Directors Cut of Thomas and The Magic Railroad using Trainz 2012.
Thanks for the info. Nice usernome...
Thanks.
TommyPickles Fan1992 I'm sure that the unedited film negatives of the film still exist somewhere. I'm certain of it.
Guys a unfinished workprint is now available which is actually pretty awesome

Also thank you whoever was involved with the test audience for having Bommer's actor's one and only main role in a feature film cut.
Curse you test audiences!
where the crap was edward in this entire movie?!
the reason that the test audience were so grumpy is cause it was in LA on one of the hottest days that year and everyone just wanted to leave to get cool.

THE CLAW SCARED ME AS A YOUNG CHILD
OH MY GOD! You are probably the only person (other than me of course) that was a big Thomas fan when a child!
It's Michael! Not Michelle! And the voice you thought was the same actor as Diesel 10's original voice was not him. It was actually Niel Crone, the voice of Diesel 10 in the final product, but with a Russian accent. The studio and/or another test screening (go figure!) made the decision that Diesel 10's Russian accent was too offensive, so his lines had to be re-dubbed again.
FML.
We need these.
TATMR Had Script Changes, Lots, Edward Was Supposed To Be In It, But He Wasn't Needed, But The Cancelled TATMR PS1 Game Was Supposed To Have Him As A BG Character.
Had any one seen the test footage from the test audience in LA. Is there any video of it.
when i saw this movie in the theaters, i legit questioned where the conductors were.
You know what I wish could happen
Using this video and all the info about the director’s cut, etc. The whole Thomas community, Thomas fans, etc could just team up and create the director’s cut, I know it may seem hard, very hard, to do but it’s literally 2018 not 1999 or 2000 and if people start typing backlash at this comment, it’s just an opinion, I still wish this could happen

It leaked in 2019 and there's still Missing Footage
6:00 I just wonder what became of that painting and who made it in the first place?!
You got two information wrong conceded about you said about Percy & James first off it's Michael Angelis & second it's not 1999 he starred his narration in 1991 when Ringo Starr left the show.
@UltimateGaming KOG What was it called?
KOG The Master No, because Ringo Starr did not wish to be involved in a third series. Which was a pity, because Michael Angelis’s narration pretty much killed the show to British viewers. He was truly awful, especially his “voice” of the Fat Controller!
@@wishkid79 I don't think his narration is awful, I liked his narration since the late 90's, I mean nobodies perfect like the late George Callin but Michael Angelis isn't that bad, Now Alec Baldwin.. Meh not that very good.
@@wishkid79 Michael Angelis was decent from S3 to about S7 - at that point he seemed to just lose all enthusiasm.
But even at that point, I prefer him over all the American narrations (even the excellent performance of George Carlin), mostly because, as an Australian, I grew up with him and it took me AGES to like Carlin.
That all said, my favourite narrator is still Ringo Starr.
You know I actually wouldn't mind paying to see the original directors cut. When I was young and I watched the movie I felt a of the plot just had too many gaps. Oh well one can only imagine

PT Boomer was too scary little kids?! What about Diesel 10? He had a HUGE claw! Isn't that scarier?! Diesel 10 kinda scared me when I was younger!
Gamer Dude pt was very real and not over the top . He was literally a realistic villain we see in many adult films. So he was to dark I guess. Which is sad cuz Thomas has always had its dark moments. This would have been a great movie for all ages. The adults now grown up would get a adult like drama that's very personal and kids would get a huge movie about Thomas
