    The iPad problem has nothing to do with the screen, the chip, or anything related to the hardware. The iPad issue is the baby software that's on par with iPhone software. As long as Apple doesn't integrate MAC OS into the iPad, it doesn't make sense to throw money at the iPad Pro. It's a laptop with iPhone software and a price tag of EUR 3,000!

      This is also true. I do think having too many hardware options and no “pro” software can both create a worse user experience. I didn’t mention iPadOS because there are always hopes that it will finally be “computer-like”. I figure 5 years of iPadOS with no real updates (and absolutely no rumors) means it’s not coming. So I judged it as-is. You make a great point though.

    Good point. Reminds me of when Steve Jobs came back to Apple, slashed the product line, and saved the company.

    Now that you've mentioned it, the iPad line really is far from simple. I think Apple needs to merge the iPad and iPad Air (pretty much the same thing they did on MacBook and MacBook Air).

      Other comments have mentioned this (I didn’t in the video) iPadOS really hinders it too. Hope we see something new on all fronts soon.

    Yeah. It's very confusing on which ipad to choose. I've been stuck trying to decide on which to buy for the past 3 months and it's driving me crazy!

    Good video explaining about iPads. I would imagine Apple just cleaning up the iPad line up by retiring the iPad 9 and 10 with an iPad 11 or replace with one of the 2 versions of the Air. Interesting to see.

  • @_Digitalguy

    this makes sense in theory but not in reality... a foldable iPad would cost multiple times a mini or an air, and would have compromises, including weight...
    the part where I agree is the naming confusions with different generations, especially for the pro, which is confusing mainly for people buying a used iPad. But for new iPads I don't see many issue other that the fact that they simply need to make a decision on what the entry iPad should be. Other than that, a mini, 2 air and 2 pro, smaller and larger, are perfectly understandable

    • @JPSTV00
      @JPSTV00  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I hear what you’re saying. In the store, Apple removes the generation naming to not confuse customers. But the fact that has to happen is what I’m calling confusing. Totally agree on the foldable front too. That’s probably why we haven’t seen it. And probably won’t. I just think there’s other ways to “simplify” besides adding MORE iPads…

    • @_Digitalguy
      @_Digitalguy Před 2 měsíci

      @@JPSTV00 I think foldable will come at some point but in a few years. But it will be an expensive niche product at first, like the vision pro. Longer term it's not easy to predict how the technology will evolve and Apple's product with it. I don't think Apple is afraid of adding more products. Their line is still way simpler that the whole Android tablet market. The have room to still add products and make more money ouf of them (larger air, even larger pro). That can bother some customers, but it's not the end of the world, and if in the end it makes Apple more sales and money it's worth it for theme

    • @JPSTV00
      @JPSTV00  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I’m not sure if a foldable line could be easily compared to AVP. But I do get what you’re saying. Foldables are just one way Apple could simplify. Like I said in the video, so long as simplification comes, I don’t really care how it happens. Mac doesn’t have the same problem despite having a much larger lineup. But as an “average consumer” I don’t know why I should buy the air over the pros. Too similar imo. We’ll just have to stay tuned on how they’ll execute. Apple is (sometimes) smarter than me lol!

    • @_Digitalguy
      @_Digitalguy Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@JPSTV00 I am not comparing a foldable to an AVP. I am just saying that these devices are both niche and priced out of the majority of buyers (by the way I don't even see the comment anymore). I think that there is a vocal minority asking for simplification and most people not caring or being happy to have more choice. The air over the pro can be a bit "too" similar in between generations since they are not lanched at the same time. But they are just like regulary iPhones and iPhones pro, relatively similar but different enough to have their own market. Same for the SE (despite it currently having terrible value) and base iPad (although one has to go at this point). Once the iPad pro 11 gets OLED it will be different enough with Oled vs LCD, 120hz vs 60 and quad vs stereo speakers, plus double the storage. No issue there. Good for Apple and probably good for consumers too.

    With phones getting bigger and bigger, with 2024 models being generally between 6"-6.8", smaller tablets such as the iPad mini are really gonna fight for relevancy IMO. I think this is why Apple are now offering larger screen sizes. Personally, I would'nt bother with tablets anymore, as phones are so close in size now. Annoyingly though, I'm stuck owning an iPad as many music apps I like to use only run on the iPad, they're not available on the iPhone.

      Actually it looks like there is a way to load iPad apps onto an iPhone, if you have the same AppleID on both devices. I'm going to give it a try, if it works it'll be hello iPhone 15 Max and goodbye to iPads for good!

      I really dont agree. Using phone for calling and texting,but can never replace a tablet(8 to 14 inches) to watch videos or playing games.

    • @Janus1000
      @Janus1000 Před měsícem

      What I want, more than anything, is the iPad mini to gain an inch, get a really well designed folding keyboard (doesn’t even need to attach, but any folding keyboards on the market lack refinement) and gain an M series chip, and I want them to make a version of iPad OS stage manager that doesn’t require the tablet screen to be on. An iPad mini that could be the productivity machine that fits in a cross body bag like a sling, a purse, or even an inner jacket pocket and could be the perfect item for those of us who need to work on the road, but want to leave behind book bags and suitcases. Students would benefit as well, and being able to plug into a tv or monitor wherever you’re at would mean a more focused work experience is available to you as well. I love my iPad Pro 12.9, I purchased one with LTE because I wanted to never be held back from using it wherever I wanted with as much freedom as I could get with an unlimited data connection, but the smallest bag I can get it in is a messenger bag and it’s uncomfortable to hold laying in the couch. It means I choose other things over it more times than I would want, but the phone lacks the size and the laptop requires a physical position compromise to enjoy media and such. My friends iPad Air 11 is ALMOST there for size but it’s still just a tad big for holding while relaxing and the Mini was close but the lack of brightness really killed it for me as too much a compromise from either my phone or my iPad Pro.
      One can dream at least.

    The large and fragmented lineup, feature wise too, makes it harder to justify an upgrade sometimes. I’m writing this from my Air 3 waiting for Apple’s 2024 iPad announcement, but I fear they’ll just make the Air more expensive without much to back it up. Can my Air really make use of an M2 or M3 processor? Doubt it. Would be nice to have ProMotion, but I think they’ll keep that feature within the Pro lineup.

    The iPad line up is not confusing in my opinion. Basically, it has three sizes (small, medium, and large) with the middle size having variations in power and display quality. Where’s the confusion? Having said that, I think it would be interesting to see a foldable iPad mini or iPhone.

    • @JPSTV00
      @JPSTV00  Před měsícem

      It doesn’t have 3 sizes, it has 5 sizes. (Literally none of them are the same size) The smallest size is “better/more powerful” than some of its larger counterparts, and some have computer chips in them while others have modified iPhone chips. All deliver different performance and are designed for different audiences. The average consumer doesn’t understand these nuances. Hence, the confusion. It really is a weird lineup.

      @@JPSTV00 While technically true, the point I was making is that practically speaking, there are 3 sizes.
