    In last nights Euro Jigsaw Jam by Speed Puzzle Europe the host Michelle kept Kristin and Alejandro on the screen the whole time (while also showing other competitors two by two) so if someone wants to themselves study how the current top two in the world work, this is a wonderful opportunity!

      Thank you so much Riikka for this comment and recommendation for all! I went to watch a short clip of this now too and it also shows how e.g. Kristin AMAZINGLY keeps turning the pieces as I mentioned here. For me it’s literally mesmerizing to watch. It’s truly a great opportunity to be able to watch this closely how the best puzzlers do it and then also learn from it!!! 😊

      Yes! If someone doesn't want to watch the whole competition stream, you can see pretty well Kristin working like you describe when the competition has been going on for about 14 minutes. 😊

    Was extremely busy last weekend but finally found time to catch up. Great analysis on Kristin and its very obvious you, like most people, have a ton of respect for her and are just trying to learn from the best!
    I can understand how you might have been a little disappointed with the results but on the other hand, if you keep in mind how recent you started puzzling compared to some people doing puzzles their whole life, you might actually be one of the best puzzlers out there!

      Well I wouldn’t try to learn from someone I have no respect for. She is crazy good. 😃 Thanks for the comment!
      I think I’m more annoyed that I can’t figure out any factors or circumstances what made me tripping up. One practice I understand but the whole week was going places. 😃 I may not be the fastest speed puzzler but I’m not hunky-dory when my analyzing isn’t working because that I excel at.

    Interesting commentary on Kristan. She is an amazing puzzler.

      Thank you. She is so crazy skilled. I was watching yesterday also Spanish Nationals and even though I kinda knew Alejandro does it too, now I see clearly that it’s seems to be the common detominator. Their finger movement looks a bit different (Kristin’s is smaller and more subtle) but what/how they are doing it seems the same.

    I remember Karen from Karen puzzles trying to race her after the worlds championship in Spain was over and Kristin won. Her and Alejandro brought their parents to worlds and did amazing. I think the secret to win is to bring you parents😂okay, all seriousness, they have a way of processing images and hand coordination that is pretty cool.

    Thanks for sharing your experience! I was thinking the anime puzzles were a little strange, but not a bad choice as not as many people would have done them. But sounds like quite a few people had done them anyway. (I do enjoy watching My Hero Academia, but haven't seen the other!)

      This is exactly what I was thinking first too. Odd choice - like Christmas puzzles off-season, or like TV-show puzzles are rarely seen on competitions. And then I was sure that no one have done these as I don’t even remember seeing these but I was wrong with that! I will need to expand my collection with these kind of puzzles now. 😊

    Interesting to see how you got on at the competitions. From what you were saying, it seems that some of the tables were rather small. I have done the Trendy puzzle and it is not as easy as you may think. No idea how long I took as I didn't time myself. They certainly didn't mind using old puzzles. I remember doing the Happy Days at Work series many years ago. The Secretary one came out in 2014.

      After having the Panda puzzle in the Finnish Nationals and super small table in the Danish Nationals, I feel like I’m ready for anything in WJPC 2024 so bring it on 😃 And yes, that one is super old. I couldn’t even find a store that would sell it anymore.

    I would like to advise you not to criticise other puzzlers esp best ones every body tries different places and 50 to 60 percentage to put correctly at first attempt is still incredibly good

    • @puzzlewithemilia
      @puzzlewithemilia  Před 6 dny +6

      Hi! Can I ask you what words did you take as criticising? I especially said that she is amazingly skilled and these numbers (you also mention as ingredibly good) are great? I said that that this strategy is amazing and differs how other people do it. And that this is how we should try to do it. Most puzzlers don’t really go non-stop, more looking at the pieces and only trying once. Maybe my English wasn’t clear (or I will check if YT got automatic subtitles wrong)? 😊
      My only point with the ”misconception” was that as we want to learn from the best we really need to know how are they doing it so we won’t try to replicate something we think they do instead of their real strategy. Also when I say someone doesn’t even blink means that they have incredible confidence. I now checked this with Google and couldn’t find any other meaning for this that could be taken a negative way. And I also said specifically said that this doesn’t mean that she is not as good as we thought just in case someone is not familiar with speed puzzling and thinks those numbers are slow.
