That Malcolm Blight goal at 7:35 has to be one of the most famous goals of all time.
North Melbourne (Malcolm’s team) had been playing catch up the whole last quarter and we’re trailing only a few minutes beforehand. Malcolm it upon himself to try and win the game and kicked 2 goals in the extra time to get them to within 1 point of Carlton. Then with the game seeming lost Malcolm pushed quite far down the ground to take a mark, on what was essentially the wing (which is usually 30-35 meters from the 50 meter arc that encircles the forward half), so he about 80 to 90ish meters away from goal.
The siren sounded and he had no other choice but to have an attempt at goal. He was always noted as big kicker, but from that distance it was almost unthinkable, as 99% of players would struggle to even kick it 60 meters with any accuracy; and considering the pressure of a kick after the siren to win the match from that distance a lot of Carlton supporters started to make their way to the exits assuming they had won the match.
“It’s a big kick! It’s a mammoth kick!!!” Is a quote that lives on in VFL/AFL history.
The ball sailed through the goals ABOVE post height, (10 to 15 meters tall) and landed 8 or 9 rows back in the crowd.
Being absolutely spent from singlehandedly getting them back into the game in dying minutes.
All of that from 85ish meters.
    After the siren.
    At Carlton’s home ground.
    What a game!
(North Melbourne we’re the reigning champions that season when this happened in 1976 after they had won the previous year’s Grand Final; again that season for a third time in a row they made the Grand Final, but unfortunately lost that game)

For those who were wondering what a Torp was.
Torp is an Australian slang word for Torpedo.
As you may have guessed from Australian films or American films that have Australian characters like Crocodile Dundee, they often use words that are shorter from their original word.
Like it was quite often in the past that Football in Australia was known as Footy and many older AFL fans still use the word Footy instead of AFL or Australian Rules Football.

The 85-90m goal was Malcolm Blight, the guy that the commentators keep referencing in the newer clips, he's what you measure a good torpedo goal against.

Fletcher. Not sure why, that always seems a perfect goal (although Ablett's appeared ginormous as well).
