Car Jumping From Minmus To Kerbin

- I think this surpassed my last distance record with the car jumping, haha. The ramp and car that I have used before were modified to operate in space. The car had to be made to push it's nose down while accelerating so that it would remain on the surface of Minmus, that is the reason why the front tires would blow out. The music used in the video is credited below:

Holy crap. The planning and many many tries and HOURS it took to plan that exactly so you'd encounter the Mun, get gravity-slung towards Kerbin, all at the exact right time to come in at the right angle at the right speed into the atmosphere. Just.

I can only get something that big into orbit with the orbital shipyard and interplanetary launchpads mods.

You know, I would absolutely love to see a team of NASA engineers stream this game and plan it like they would a real launch (but not as advanced) but they'd do it for charity or something.
You manage to jump from Minmus to Kerbin in a car. A GOD DAMN CAR, and safely land, while I cant even get to Mun without MechJeb. Time to delete KSP.

Sondre Grande don't worry I can't even get to the mun with mechjeb
@@landon5030 Seems like the errors i made too. Dont make your rocket too small, a small mun lander is nice and all but *dont* make it too small. Try to get it to orbit and have an eye on your fuel. Play with the Maneuvernodes, alot! try to minimize the m/s needed for the transfer burn to other planets.
If you designed your rocket and youre confident that it will reach orbit: Launch at full throttle. At about 10km height, lean your rocket to 45° (you can see that on the navball) and make sure the rocket is stable!. Switch to map view ( press M todo that) and continue burning until your apoapsis says 100 to 120km. If it reached 100km (for example!) stop burning. Click the apoapsis and add a maneuver, drag the right yellow thingy (prograde node) to increase periapsis until it is about the same height (1 - 2km difference would be ideal). Wait until you arrive at the maneuver node, select maneuver on the SAS controlls and burn until the green m/s bar is empty, or as close to 0m/s as you can get it. Do the same stuff to plan a transfer burn to the Mun or Minmus. Try to get the encounter close to the surface, but not too close!. For the Mun, 15-30km should be enough. Do everything you did before again. NOW, watch Scott Manley's videos! LOL, im too lazy to write more. But what im trying to "say" is: once you get to LKO, transfering to other planets isnt hard.
@@Sharpless2 I started putting wheels on my landers. I got tired of touching down with horizontal velocity that breaks the leg or tips me over, or running out of fuel with 87 attempts to get horizontal stopped for touchdown. Now I just retro burn til I'm close, and transition to a spaceplane type landing with little lift thrusters

In a 100 years this is probably daredevil stunts.
If you want to puke your soul out with 6Gs of acceleration then yes, this is the thing for you.
that would be hilarious
While sitting, and flying a vehicle horizontally human body can endure even 45 Gs. The type of G is more important, than it's strength.
@@unflexian 6G is not even that much. F1 drivers experience up to 5G every time they brake. And fighter pilots go up to 9G. Once, the cosmonauts on a Soyuz had to abort and they experienced 21G without passing out.
So this video has been in my recommended on and off for the last two years, and I finally got around to watching it. Should have done it years ago

Watching the IVA navball go from SRF to ORB after a friggin car jump is so satisfying.
That's one small ramp for a car, one giant leap for kerbalkind.

-over the runway = lvl2 jump
-from a F*****G MOON to its planet = lvl1000 jump
if you manage an interplanetary jump, i give you lvl over 9000!!!
Keep it going, your stuff is awesome
not so hard, you need root2*orbital velocity to escape a planet, so if he almost cancelled all his speed, it can also leave easily.
an escape from kerbin is easy, but a jump from pol to a crash onto eeloo would be hardly possible
What if it's a jump from Eeloo to Kerbin?
Dunno, i have never been on eeloo

You know what I love about this game and it's players? They do absolute mad shit like building a ramp, flying it to a moon with a skew-wiff orbit, landing it intact, set up and pre-assembled, then using a rocket car to launch itself off said moon and land on the planet the moon is orbiting. You're all batshit and I love you.
This is the greatest, most amazing thing done in KSP that I've ever seen. Respect.

is that inflating thermal shield a standard part of the game, or is that modded in? I thought the usual thermal shields were those orange-brown ones.
I think it's just a tweakscaled vanilla one.
