Hi Darlings,
It is my pleasure to bring to you my latest creation an analysis and reaction to kickstart my heart by motley crue.
Wikipedia describes the Mötley Crüe as
"...an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1981. The group was founded by bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee, lead guitarist Mick Mars and lead singer Vince Neil. Mötley Crüe has sold over 100 million albums worldwide. They have also achieved seven platinum or multi-platinum certifications, nine Top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 chart (including 1989's Dr. Feelgood, which is Mötley Crüe's only album to reach number one), twenty-two Top 40 mainstream rock hits, and six Top 20 pop singles. The band experienced several short-term lineup changes in the 1990s and 2000s; these included the introduction of vocalist John Corabi (who was Neil's replacement from 1992 to 1996) and drummers Randy Castillo and Samantha Maloney, both of whom filled in for Lee following his departure from Mötley Crüe in 1999; he returned to the band in 2004."
The track "Kickstart My Heart" is a song by American heavy metal band Mötley Crüe, originally released on their 1989 album, Dr. Feelgood. Released as the album's second single in 1989, "Kickstart My Heart" reached #27 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States in early 1990. The track has been used in various media, and was also included on the soundtrack album to the 2019 biographical film The Dirt and the official trailer of Battlefield 2042 remixed by 2WEI."
Vince Neil - vocals
Mick Mars - guitars
Nikki Sixx - bass
Tommy Lee - drums

Who else started to laugh when she said adrenaline packed ? Knowing the origins of the song
Most people who are not well knowledgeable on the band don't know the origin of the song. Correct me if I am wrong though.
This song was inspired by the drug over dose of Nikki Six. The "Kick start my heart" part is about the times the medics had to shock Nikki's heart when it stopped several times.
@@sjgavenger37 Very accurate. As long as them injecting nikki with adrenaline to save him, and it worked.
@@claudiusmink
My teenage years was 1980-1990. So from 10 years old to 20 years old was in my opinion the greats decade of music. So many genre's and so many great bands came up during that time.
@@sjgavenger37 i love listening to bands. crue, dokken, kiss, quiet riot, let me stop there before i start listing my playlist lol. Great genre
@@sjgavenger37 At one point they had to give him an Adrenaline shot straight to his heart . That’s why the comment was so funny
"Is He Actually On Fire?"
Yes, Nikki Sixx was actually on fire in that one clip, that was part of his act in Mötley Crüe's early days
That fire stunt was not actually not planed but rather "Nikki! come over here, lets try this one thing"
@@v1rleks ok, that part, I didn't know about
I presumed that it was always a part of the plan, as opposed to a last minute addition
A song about Nikki Sixx receiving two adrenaline shots to his heart, after a heroin overdose..... IMO the best song to get you up and ready to break something.
Dancing on glass from girls album is about when Nikki Sixx was beaten with a baseball bat to try and revive him before his drug dealer threw him in a dumpster!
i have kickstart my heart as my alarm.
Ooof 2?!
Damn that was a close one.
@The Yorkshireman Reacts until KISS gets their paint covered hands on the concept lmao, I love the band but they are getting tiresome with the amount of ranged product they’re capable of crapping out lmao
@@mnomadvfx Apparently he got super lucky. They usually only do one shot, but the paramedic adminstering it was a huge fan and recognized him. After they got no response from the first one he just stabbed a second one in despite usual procedure :D
"And I say we're still kickin' a-ass."
The crowd looses their freakin' minds... True story!
Edit: before anyone tries to crucify me... I mean back in the late 80's. I know what he's like now. Let me just keep my memories the way they are, please.
I’ll always love Vince 💯 then and now 🤷🏽♂️
He sucked back then, too.
@Saitama _ I wanted to see if the vocal coach was going to be honest, and guess what? Did you know you could fast foward these videos, Genius? So as to not have to listen to the horrific singing????
Even though he hasn't made it through an entire verse in years he's still great to watch live.
@Saitama _ oh, don't engage. Especially, someone who goes by eatme douche.
I miss the days when Vince could sing without risking a heart attack. ;) Great song through, with an even greater back story.
I miss the days when Vince could actually sing lyrics that could be understood rather than just make random strange noises.
Vince sounds like a Tusken Raider nowadays lmao
He sings as though its his last time... how ironic she would say that. I think that may have been just that. Love you Vince.. now roll away.
I miss the 18 days when Vince was locked up in jail and therefore couldn't drunkenly get behind the wheel of a car and smash into another car and kill his passenger and cause brain damage to the other driver and his passenger. Yup, THOSE were the days! All EIGHTEEN of them. For Vehicular Manslaughter. And his record company paid all civil damages. Must be nice, entitlement like that. At least Vince admitted he got a laughably insufficient sentence. Great song, tho.
I’m not sure it’s correct to say there was ever a point when Vince could sing. Even here, under the strict regime of perfectionist producer Bob Rock, and after god knows how many takes, and countless vocal overdubs, he sounds a bit wonky. Of course these days he doesn’t even try, and would be ashamed to cash in on those tickets if he knew what shame was.
The 80's...great time to come of age. Our behavior was like a Crüe song.
Without Mick there would be no Crue. The most underrated guitar player in rock.
Absolutely!! Odd his hands and wrists are not frozen like most of the rest of the poor guy!! He was just meant to be!!
Hey Rebecca! Mötley Crüe is one of my all time favs!
Did you know this sing is based off Nikki Sixx's heroin overdose on December 27, 1987? He was dead for two minutes before a paramedic in the ambulance, who was a fan, gave him two adrenaline shots to the heart. Pretty wild!
enough. nobody cares about a junkie's overdose
Shut up Lars...
@@parizivalclips nobody cares about you
@@lucacaputo6628 you do
That didn't happen. Great story but complete BS. Thanks to pulp fiction and old wives tales Everyone a shot to the heart is an actual procedure. It isn't.
The fact that this song isn't on Barney's Get Psyched mix is criminal. This song is one of the most energetic kickass songs of all time.
And yes, Nikki Sixx's pants are absolutely on fire :D
Yeah, saw it live back in the days...yes, he WAS on fire lol
Rebecca, The vocal FX applied to guitar is the so called "talk box": sound travells from guitar speake thru a pvc hose pointed to player's vocal cavity (the hose cuts some freqs produceing low fi sound). There, vocal cavity is used like a human wah to change the resonance, like when you talk open Wide just in front of a fan proppeller. Finally, the resoulting sound is reamped by the vocal mic attached to the hose in front of the players mouth. Freaking guitar gizmo.
Always thought it was called a magic mouth.. maybe this was a brand name. always loved that sound.
Its also marketed as a "Golden Throat".
Peter Frampton did it so well.
You need to watch "the dirt", the Motley crue movie. It will blow your mind and give you insight on their music! Cheers darling!
The Dirt is not completely accurate.
Read the book The Dirt. Far better than the movie & the movie is awesome!
@@jimwoodfin The Heroine Diaries is a great book as well. Written by Nikki Sixx, its a diary of that time period, and getting clean.
Matthew Curtis The movie is terrible! The book is actually great, even if the reader is not into Motley Crue. There's something for everyone in that book.
It took me 5 time to finish that movie. It sucked so bad I forced myself to try watching the whole thing. Looking back I wish to God I could get that time wasted back.
I graduated high school in 85 and the big hair metal and hard rock bands were great. I am eclectic and can listen to almost all types of music. Mötley Crüe was one of my favorite bands. Head banging music!!!! I saw you start to head bang, let it flow Rebecca and you won't regret it!! Long live metal!!!!! Thank you Rebecca for reacting to this band and song. It brought back good memories. A very big and huge hug from across the the pond!!! (Sugar Tots).
Vince has a unique voice that fits Motley Crue's music and gives it signature sound.
When Motley 94 came out it was a good I dare say GREAT album...but it wasn't Motley Crue...Saints of Los Angeles is when the Crue truly returned
I was once told by a member of the local police that I should probably never listen to this song while driving... right after handing me a $220 ticket. He might not have been entirely incorrect.
This song, Kenny Loggins' "Danger Zone" and Manuel's "Gas Gas Gas" are doubtlessly responsible for goodness knows how many speeding violations.
🤣🤣🤣🤘🏻
lmaooo i got pulled over tho this song a few months ago, $427 🥲
@@kx6los Ouch.
This is so true. I have yet to find a stereo that goes loud enough to do this song justice
His vocal is too iconic that if you heared the song you always remember about the 90s
Rebecca, its called a talk box Peter Frampton started the uses of this device. sending you love from the U.S.A.
Those of us that grew up on Crue know the answer to, "Is he actually on fire?!" 😅
"Wild beast unleashed in a musical zoo" Pretty much describes these guys EXACTLY
Sooooo many speeding tickets listening to this song driving at 16/17 in the early 90s........
It’s great to see and a group that does great live music and show show live great
Vince's Voice will never be compared to the likes Halford, Dio, Bruce Dickenson, Geoff Tate and so on,....But Fit perfectly with this Band. Love me some Motley Crue.
exactly, MC is Vince, Nikki, Tommy, and Mick
Perfectly said.
He's been far more consistent than Axl Rose
Nikki was searching LA for the "Look" .. he didn't even care if he could sing
@@kuhanstarlord3161 lol , consistently horrible
One of my favorite albums of all time. Had many hits. You should check out "without you" on that same LP. Really brings out Vince's vocals and is great ballad too.
He had many hits.
Lol, that was kind of the problem.
@@AndyViantwhy did this make me laugh so hard???
Youd probably like Home Sweet Home by them, too. Much more vocal range on display.
I think the best part about Nikki’s being on fire is that they actually use to practice it INSIDE of their apartment on Clark street just behind the Whiskey A Go Go
It's not a motor bike. That, my darling, is Mick Mars' guitar. His guitar has a Floyd Rose bridge and it changes pitch depending on how hard you push down on the bar. He made an illusion of a motorcycle shifting gear. A cool addition to a kickass song. The story behind the song is Nikki Six (bassist) had overdosed on heroin and was legally declared dead for two minutes because he had no pulse. One of the paramedics that arrived on the scene was a Motley Crue fan and he injected two shots of adrenaline into Nikki's heart and he woke up. Nikki left the hospital that same night and overdosed AGAIN! But he luckily woke up the next morning.
The engine noise is actually a homage to the song "Bad Motor Scooter" by Montrose.
@@Dan-C-71 You learn something new everyday. Thanks! 👍
@@Dan-C-71 Indeed. One day years ago I pulled up to a friend's place and Kickstart My Heart started playing in my car and my friend asked; "When did you become a fan of Montrose?"

Don"t go away mad,, just go away Motly Crue... 1 of their best
Ronnie James Dio’s death was such a loss to rock and roll and heavy metal. His voice was so unique and could never be mistaken as anyone else. He was one of a kind and he is missed so very much. I hope to see him on the other side. Rest In Peace Ronnie. 🌹
Lots of good songs in Motley Crue's catalog to enjoy. Don't Go Away Mad, Wide Side, Dr. Feelgood, Girls, Girls, Girls, Primal Scream he list is pretty extensive.
Hands down my favorite Crüe song! Great song, so much energy. This song always fires me up, as does Rebecca 😏
When I saw Crue at the US Festival in '83, they'd already released their debut album, Too Fast For Love, a couple of years earlier, and Shout At The Devil would be released later in '83. Their performance at the festival in front of over 300,000 people was great, and after that day they quickly got more well-known. When you consider that Nikki had put the band together only two years before it seems crazy how fast everything happened.
Wow, this is one my favourite songs. I'm very pleased that it was chosen for such comprehensive analysis. And Rebecca is fantastic as always.
They wrote. They sang. They played. They were actual musicians...with actual talent. They don't make music like this anymore.
Also, dang this girl is hot!
She’s gorgeous, and yes there’s still plenty of bands making great music, they just don’t get the PR anymore.
People that listen to orchestras would say the same about this. Yes actual musicians exist. Later SIMPs.
@@scrappy93 yeah but orchestras don't write their own songs

No joke without Motley Crue and Def Leppard my wife and I never would've even started talking at work. RVA, would you ever react to Bringing On The Heartache by Def Leppard. That might be one Joe Elliott's best vocal performances
May be my favorite all around song by Def Leppard 💯
Mick Mars, the guitarist, lived in my hometown of Huntington, Indiana until he was 9 when his family moved to California. His grandmother lived a couple blocks from me and he'd come back to visit her on occasion. His real name is Bob Deal.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the 80's best of times and music. I so miss them! So much fun! Great bands such as Motley Crue etcetc and the pub scene in Australia as well!! So glad I grew up in that era! Yeah getting older sucks in a way, but I wouldn't change a damn thing!
Sad to think the younger generations will never know those times by experiences. Or all of those great bands, and far more simpler fun times as well. The 90's was fun too!

So many singers of that era unfortunately DID force their voices. Even considering their ages now, they sound not so good as they did because of forcing it.
Not the reason but ok

FINALLY you did the mighty Motley Crue. This is Crue in their '89 heyday as they were never better than they were on the Dr. Feelgood record. So glad you did this one and I gave it a 'like' when you said "This is already adrenaline packed." and then you added "it's an adrenaline filled master-piece!" I'm so grateful I saw them on this tour here in Cleveland, Ohio on 7-5-90, A W E S O M E gig!! You rock, Rebecca!!
Vince had to cancel two shows recently because his voice was gone.
A good vocal coach will tell him to make a come back for a rock vocalist planning a big long tour you gotta train DAILY (by doing correct exercises plus singing songs) for at least 6 - 12 months before you can even come anywhere near close to top form but these guys think they can just order their vocal cords to cooperate instantly to sing at an acceptable professional level.
@@ThelSuperlKing My neighbour has been in training for 3 months for gigs coming up (3 shows per week for 10 weeks). The fact that Vince shows such contempt his ticket buying fans is deplorable. There again, he never did take his obligations seriously.

Motley Crue is pretty much THE reason I became a metalhead. I grew up as a little kid born in 1980, and so I was rocking out to Crue at 9 years old thanks to my older brother. Later I got into much heavier stuff... but in the 80's it was all about Motley Crue, RATT, Faith No More, and Metallica, etc. for me.
My favourite Mötley Crüe song for obvious reasons. I loved your authentic reaction to it, the joy, the quirkiness, and the professional analysis. Keep it up and stay safe!
I heard "Looks That Kill" by them. Got the cassette and stuck with it for a couple years. When their third album came out, I found out they had a first album so I went to that. 1 and 2 probably still basically their stuff I liked. At that time it was more bands coming out. Casey Kasem did America's Top 40 on tv with bands showing up, and he was Shaggy on Scooby-doo for years... I get distracted and change topics a lot haha... Great song to play full blast in you car while driving!!!!!!
Unfortunately, Vince has had a hard time lately with his vocals. Of course, he should get himself in shape, physically and mentally for the road. I hope he can somehow bounce back with the Crue.
He has the tone but gets winded, that's his only issue...for all the flack he gets he's been more consistent than most of his peers
If by lately you mean the last 30 years sure.

Yugo... Yugo? Yugo!? Geez. How could you hate Vince that much. Did he kill your puppy?
This song is about Nikki Sixx when he died from heroine, while in the ambulance the EMT was a fan of motley crew and said he's not going on my watch so the EMT stuck a shot of adrenaline in Nikki Sixx chest and Nikki woke up. I met Nikki and he's the most amazing rock star I've ever met

Arguably Motley Crue's best song.
I agree
Vince Neil is one of the worst performers I've ever seen live. I've seen the band at least 6-7 times and only once was his performance even passable and that was at the Ozzfest 2010 in Devore, CA and that wasn't even "really good" it was just "alright". If you are looking for him to sound even remotely like he does on album at a live show today you will be heavily disappointed. A friend of mine says the only one worse is David Lee Roth... I've never seen VH live so I can't attest to that. Vince is probably it for worst live vocals for me.

I’ve listened to this song for YEARS and one day while listening to it…it hit me hard. The song is going full bore and then it hits that breakdown slow part. It starts picking back up steam and then it goes back to full bore. It made me think about Nikki’s life and when he ‘died’…life was going full bore and then he crashed. He was lifeless momentarily and then he started to come back to the real world, back to life…then he came back full alive. I don’t know if it’s intentionally written this way to reflect what it’s like to be alive, die, then come back to life…but it’s one hell of a coincidence
7:05 is life…. 7:22 is death and somewhere in between…. 7:42 is the adrenaline shots hitting his heart trying to resuscitate him…. 8:00 is being revived… 8:11 is back to life
For me, it’s too much coincidence with the subject matter of the song and those sections. It’s pure genius
I never thought he was a good singer, could never produce the goods live either. John Corabi was a much better singer for Motley Crue, I don't care how unpopular that opinion is.
I don't think that's all that unpopular of an opinion! I love the Corabi Crue album!
@@mikeski205 believe me it is man. They got Vince back because the fans and the record label made them. If they changed the name of the band it probably would have worked out better.
The saddest part: Vince RUINED his voice by never warming up properly. In the last few years he's gotten really out of shape physically, can't remember most of the words, and isn't the same guy he was. I wish he'd taken better care of himself and his voice.
I've seen him a couple of times in the last several years. It was obvious they turned his mic down and the music up to cover up his lack of range these days.
