Just a brilliant song and concept. The little guy climbs a Symore tree to see Jesus. Then Jesus says I must eat at your house. After hearing Jesus preach, he turns from his sins and wants to make a mend for the evil he had done. Jesus says Salvation has come to this household. The song reminds me how the gospel changes us from sinner to saint. From unjust to just. From the child of the devil to a child of God. God created man just, holy and righteous just like Himself. Jesus died on the cross and was raised from the dead to reconcile us to bring us to Glory! Eternal life is a free gift, no works can achieve what Jesus did for us, otherwise He died in vain.

This song has so much meaning for me!! I have been cooperating with God in my healing through the vehicle of DNRS (Dynamic Neural Retraining System), and one of the first memories he brought back for me to focus on was when I first learned the story of Zacchaeus...that longing to catch more than a glimpse of this man called Jesus of Nazareth... and to have Jesus not only stop and see him (me!!), but to want to go spend time with him (me!!)! So much of the program is about being present in the moment and focusing my attention on what is good and pure and honorable and lovely...

I never thought about him climbing in the sycamore tree because he didn’t want to miss out. Also he was a sinner like we are sinners and we are no better than him. So, the story is ringing in a different way than it did when it was just a Sunday school song-a-long.
