Char B1 was indeed well liked by Germans and it was heavily used by them. One panzer Division that used them was 16th that indeed was in Stalingrad. Char B1 was "heavy" enough to still be good tank for eastern front compared to Somua S35 which was mostly just used for training and lesser fronts, like Finland by Panzer-Abteilung 211 in Operation Silver Fox.
To confirm, the B1 (labeled by the Germans as the Pzkw. B2(f) ) was widely used throughout the Eastern Front as a Flammenpanzer and a Self Propelled Howitzer armed with the 10.5cm leFH 18 Howitzer.
