I really love that bottle, want to buy another one soon. The 18 I have is great, bottled in 2021, I share that one with special friends. I also have the 21 bottled on 2022, which I will open for my bday (thanks to your advice). You should try the Cask Strength batch 10 or 11,those really tune up the flavors to the extreme. Glendronach is a great distillery, and I can't get enough from their expressions.

I have to drive to get it but currently still under $90. I don't even try to compare it to the old bottling anymore, just good Scotch at a fair price.

The old Glendronach 15 (Billy Walker)was bottled at 46%abv. NOT 48%abv.

Did a sherried whisky tasting in December and this was probably the overall favourite by votes before we got to the cask strength Arran... just hits the spot, even if filtered now.

Definitely brown sugar in this which I like, as opposed to the sweetness coming from confectionary. I have about the same left in my 2021 bottle. Too expensive to replace at this stage,

having drunk the original 15 many times before it was discontinued and then resurrected, i bought a few of the original 15's and still have half a bottle of the original, and i can confirm that the new 'revival' aint a patch on the old, and we shouldnt expect it to be i suppose as the original contained much older scotch, but what pee'd me off and why i don't buy the 'new' revival, is that they more or less kept the same label, bumped up the price quite significantly, and moved away from soley oloroso casks, so it's a different product really, and trying to live off the reputation the old 15 gained is just a marketing con. maybe if id never tried the old revival i would be less hard on the 'new', but it's gone from one of my top 5 scotch's to one i wont buy anymore, as there's now much better sherry bombs at the same or lower price points. Billy walker was the brains behind glendronach, and he's now doing what he did there at glenallachie. try the GA 15 or even 12, but sticking with glendronach for a similar scotch to the old 15 means paying around ÂŁ170 for the allardice 18, way too much for a bottle i bought for half that price not too many years ago. I know what you mean BUT imo Glenallachie can't hold a candle to Glendronach + their 18 is also up there pricewise (~150€)

I haven’t had the GD 15, new or old, but I have had the 12, CS Batch 7 and the 21. The 12 is a solid sherried scotch, but is now too expensive. The 21, bottled in 2021, is one of my favourite bottles of all time. The CS Batch 7 is pure GARBAGE.
I’d really love to know what alternatives to the GD 15 there are other than the GA 15, which tbh I was quite disappointed with.

@@keegan1728 haha I believe batch 7 of the CS series is officially the worst 😆.
Alternatives... hmmm... if you can try to find the Glengarioch 15 sherry wood. It's a very good Oloroso sherry bottling @~53% abv (as long as you don't get a bottle from a sulfury batch)

@@keegan1728 sherry bomb's are my thing and i'm always looking and trying different ones, have for decades, but it always comes down to personal taste anyway, so i'll name just a few i've tried recently that i like, in no particular order. I usually order from Master of Malt, btw as much as i like scotch, id say dont be afraid to try worldwide one's.
Wormtub 10yo batch 4 - this is cask strength and i got it at great value with a tenner off at christmas
Millstone Oloroso Sherry Cask, it's dutch, but don't let that put you off lol.
Kavalan Sherry Oak - it's a tad expensive and from taiwan i think, but a lovely dram
although not a scotch, if you like a big full fruity taste, goslings family reserve rum is gorge.
if you want to try something else different but still 'sherried' for a ridiculous low price of less than ÂŁ20, try soberano 12yo brandy, which is matured in first fill sherry casks i think. I always have a bottle in for a nip or two now and again, and in the past if i want to steep cherries in something for 6 months to use in decadent puddings, i usually use this, and a bonus is the moorish brandy left over when the cherries have gone.
If you try any of these, then please drop a reply in here and i would be interested on your opinion. GL
