I haven't read any books in your possible dnf series. Im sorry I can't give an opinion except Iron Flame. After reading the ending, I threw that book across the room and said "no more" 😂 I love the dragons and her best friend and her squad friend group.

Woohoo! You have such good reads awaiting you with Michael J. Sullivan and An Elderly Lady. I just finished the first book in An Elderly Lady and I really liked it. It is written as more of a short story collection of all of her miscellaneous murders, which was very fun!
Glad I'm not the only one who didn't enjoy the ending of Iron Flame! Totally agree about the dragons and the friend group, but could care less for the romance.

I absolutely love The Lunar Chronicles, especially Cress and Winter. Winter made me cry at the end
I'm currently at 25 series, but 10 of those are more like interconnected standalones, rather than a true series, so i'm not too worried about that number
I am excited to continue on with The Lunar Chronicles. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it as I usually have a hard time with YA.
25 is great! Even better that some of them are connected standalones. I don't count certain mystery series in my series number due to them being connected standalones. And some of those series have like 40 books, so I'm not holding them against my goal. 🤣
I have a spreadsheet for this thankfully. I have 53 currently open. 6 I have started this year. 4 I have completed so far. And 2 DNF.

For fantasy and sci-fi, I'm at 18 series, 10 of which I'm certain I want to continue and believe the author will write them. Quite a few of these are on your list. I've got 5 maybes and 3 I'd love to read but doubt the author will finish. Good luck with completing all of these. I hope to start This Charming Man sometime next week.
That's awesome that you have so many you want to continue with that you are confident will be continued. I stopped counting Kingkiller Chronicles on my list of series to get to a long time ago, because who knows when the third will come out. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on This Charming Man!

I tend to keep an eye on my series not so much as to how many I have open, but to try and make sure I read the next book before I forget the previous one (only moderately successful on that front).
I also am lukewarm on continuing the Aurelian Cycle. It's a bit too dark/angsty for me. I might continue, but it's not a priority.
For the Fractured Dark, the romantic parts it's mostly the first 30%/last 15%, so there is a bunch more of the plot/canus stuff in the middle which is pretty good. But maybe you want to wait and see what people think of the 3rd book. I also liked book 1 better than book 2 marginally. It could be the Fractured Dark had some 'middle book' issues, or it might just be that the series isn't going in a direction that's something you'll enjoy right now. The third book comes out in July, so maybe wait to see what people think of it and put the series on ice until then?
I have the same thoughts on the Aurelian Cycle. I'm not a fan of the angst and I've heard it is worse in book 2.
Ooo! Good thought on waiting for peoples thoughts on the 3rd book of Devoured Worlds. I might just do that so I'm not reading something that is going in a direction I don't love. Thank you!
I usually don't follow these types of numbers, but for this videos questions...I will show a few of mine.
Since I read SO many books, I don't worry about how many series that I'm in the middle of.
So, just the series that I'm currently reading that started in 2024, I have started twenty series. I am caught up (to what has been published in the series) on nine. I have also completed five series this year.
So, for the most part, I'm truly pleased.

Spice Road only recently came onto my radar. I'm not usually into YA, but this year i read a couple i very much enjoyed, so i'm looking to give more of them a chance.
i just got Grace of Kings, but i haven't started it yet. I think i'm hesitant because it's grimdark. But i'm also the same way where i enjoy a more intimate story telling rather than a grand scope
Rachel, I would love to hear your thoughts on Spice Road and Grace of Kings. There is a component of Spice Road (specifically the Djinn) that i really want to know more about, which is what is pulling me to continue the series. Grace of Kings I think has some absolutely fantastic characters, but the zooming in and out and global turmoil I just didn't enjoy.

I think I have 33 ongoing series and about 70% are ongoing. Im about to add two more to the list. 🤷♀️ oops, + 2 more Ive started the first book in the series.

I have never tracked my open series before but I am starting to collate that list... I'm genuinely terrified to realise how many I have unfinished.
It was a bit of a reality check for me. I love series, but before booktube I didn't really think about how many I was reading at one time. 🤣I clearly have a problem.

I feel like if you're thinking about dnf'g you should just dnf. It's not like you can't change your mind again later if you regret it. Life is too short, especially as a lot of these are chonkers.
