Very interesting and brought back a lot of memories of trips there as a child.When I was a keeper at Winged World,heysham in the 70's,my Head Keeper ,Bill Ranson had been the Head Bird Keeper at Belle Vue before coming to Morecambe.The Reptile house was very good,but unfortunately the place was allowed to run down because of finanacial considerations.

I worked at Belle Vue for about 9 years …. Worked my way around some of various venues within Belle Vue … I left about a year before it closed … due to disastrous mismanagement by Trust House Forte …. I think that they deliberately ran it into the ground as the land was much more profitable for housing and commercial development opportunities ….. from my point of view as a proud Mancunian they should never have been allowed to destroy such an iconic and historical part of Manchester’s history and the legacy of the Jennison family who started out with a animal menagerie in their garden in Adswood just outside Stockport …
Those 9 years I spent working at Belle Vue were some of the best years of my life … I met my wife there and we’re still together ….
