I heard Bill Evans play in a small club in Hermosa Beach, Ca. a few times. Mr. Ivanov, you recreated his touch brilliantly, sounded as if Bill was playing it himself. Thank you, you took me back 50+ years.
Thank you so much, Ken! That means a lot, I'm touched by your comment!
Ken was that club the Lighthouse?
@@chriscravens8318 Yes sir!
Ken, here is a documentary of those days at the Lighthouse you might enjoy. Wish I could have been there then!

@kenhamasaka2524 that is awesome if you got to see a lot of the West Coast jazz guys there! Shelly, Art Pepper, Bill Perkins, Richie Kamuca, Howard Rumsy, etc!! I would LOVE to have been there then!
My father played piano and since I was 5 years old...played this piece for me. I learned it on flute at 13 yrs old. My father died 10 years later. It is my piece of him. My piece. So appreciate your keeping it alive. I am no 59 ....my whole life is wrapped in this song.
Thank you for sharing your touching story!
❤
I would have been silently crying through the entire performance. Just beautiful.
I’ve probably listened to the original recording 50,000+ times. One day I played it on repeat all day nonstop and it was the most serene day ever.
The articulation in this performance is immaculate. The timings, phrasing and flawless touch produces the tone that only Evans could do.
I’m speechless. This will be the definitive performance for many. I would bet if one were to play both side by side- this artist was 99% spot on!
Bravo!
Thank you very much, I appreciate your kind words!
Bill forever. Heartbreakingly beautiful. Thank you.
I'm so happy you enjoyed it! Bill's music is eternal and divine.
I'm an ignorant person who only heard this song for the first time yesterday, though I'm 55. It has amazing power, and I deeply appreciate your ability here to play this in a way that evokes the spaciousness I hear in the original. You place notes like crystal flowers in space and they keep blooming, blooming until I'm overwhelmed. Bravo!
Thank you so much!!!
In my 68 years I have never heard a more hauntingly beautiful piece. I’m drawn to its pathway to heaven. Bravo to the Star with light in his hands and
Soul. Bravo!
Evans led a complicated and troubled life. Very sad. However, who can doubt he would be happy to know his that work would make it to the classical concert hall, for the enjoyment folks who likely never bought any of his records, and likely never even knew about either him, or his music? I'm sure Bill would thank you for it, if he could.
Thank you very much, Bill's music deserves every bit of attention, in any musical environment.
Wow this is a great perfomance of this magical work
Bill Evans would certainly approve of your performance
I cried like a baby. An absolute masterpiece and you played it wonderfully. Thank you.
Thank you so much, that means a lot!
There is something about this song that I can listen to it endlessly. Emanuil, this is fantastic! Bill Evans is looking down and smiling on this!
Thank you so much!
Одна из моих самых любимых джазовых композиций. Настоящее волшебство. Превосходно сыграно!
Спасибо большое!
Thank you for filling the time away from my family with beauty, not sorrow.
🙏🙏This means a lot, thank you so much!
Masterpice🔥
Yeah this can become very self indulgent. Takes a kind of person in a certain mood to listen to this same pattern over and over. Very hypnotic.
Your touch is very delicate. Makes this piece sound even more atmospheric.
Thank you!
so beautiful melodies with outstanding playing skills like Super Outstanding Master Bill Evans. Like your Bow-head as Master Bill stays there always
Thank you!
It must be tough trying to recreate a masterpiece when you weren't the creator........great job !
This is my favourite piece of Bill Evans's music. I think you have done him proud. It has all the sensitivity and soulfulness of the original, yet remains yours. Beautiful, Thank You so much!
Thank you so much!!!🙏🙏
This made my day, brilliant!
A stunning rendition of a Bill Evans masterpiece. Bravo!

So beautiful ❤❤❤
Juste magnifique, quel talent, j'adore cette pièce !!! 🔥🌷
Merci beaucoup!!!😊😊
Simple and genuine. Couldn't it simply be a kind of children's inprovised tune? A children's entertainment? Isn't it all kind of music?
And a prayer for peace.
Thank Bill Evans. Thank you Emanuil.
Thank you!🙏
I just played this at an open mic. You sound just like Bill Evans, such control and beautiful harmonies, I could listen to this for hours. Thank you so much for posting this. Hopefully ill get half as good someday.
Thank you very much for your kind words!!! So happy you liked it!
Wonderfull. Thanks you very much!!
🙏🙏🙏
Just. Wonderful. Thank you!
Thanks!
Simply beautiful.
Many thanks!!
Your touch is absolutely wonderful. I love how the sound just reverberates and echoes throughout that hall. My favorite part of this was the polytonality at 3:26, that really added some sense of tension to this.
Thank you so much!
This piece will always haunt me in a soothing sense. There’s a spiritual dimension to it that you tapped into my friend. What a gift you have to share with the world.
Thank you.🙏❤️.x
Honored to be studying in the same conservatoire as this guy!

Such a beautiful piece. This is the best rendition of it that I’ve heard. Maybe better than the original.

Bene fatto sig Ivanov! Bisognerebbe che altri musicisti riproponessero questa aria. E' un toccasana per l'anima di ogni uomo
It is a piece of utmost purity and magic, yes.
You played beautifully and, I believe, with much reverence.
Thank you!
Lei ha ribadito con la sua interpretazione lo spirito e la magia di questo brano. Essrndo jei un grande interprete, ovviamente ha messo ka sua firma. Grazie sog Ivanov

Beautiful and amazing. Thank you 💯
Thank you very much!
Excellent!
Maravilloso Maestro, gracias ❤
Gracias!
Искрени поздравления! Изключително изпълнение с прекрасна техника, но най-важното, е че сте уловили мистицизма и дълбочината, която прави музика на Бил Еванс толкова специална и неповторима. Много успехи Ви желая!
Много Ви благодаря!
Incrível performance, essa música é puro sentimento.
Thank you!
Beautiful
Thank you!
Beautiful. Really really evocative.

Emty concert hall .... There was a time this hall was full. But nowedays who cares about music. Poor people ....
very crispy sound
Thank you..
bela interpretação, me emocionei. obrigada♡
Obrigado!!!
Bravo!!! Muy bonita tu interpretación.
Mil gracias!
It is nice that Bill Evans gets recognition from the classical world. There are more jazz compositions/ improv transcribed that should be a part of classical literature. I would have like to have heard a little more fortissimo in a few places.
Would you please kindly recommend some of these compositions?
@@kalamata480 Severa lColtrane compositions com to mind; the tone poems of his such as Lonnies Lament and the Wise One.. Thelonius Monk's Brilliant Corners Wayne Shorter also has many beautifully strong melodies that could be orchestrated too.
@@robertquay7188 Much appreciated, thank you.

What a your perfomance Concerto is a program ?
I want to listen thme ❣️
Thank you very much! This was played after Saint-Saëns 5th concerto.😊
Wooow! Bill, it's you...??!
Браво Эмануил!! Уровень очень хорош. Но все же немного не хватает духа Билла
you know when it gets to around 3:00, can someone explain that part to me. I feel like the rest of the song is so cohesive but to my ear that sort of 30 sec period dosent make sense right there. Still love the song btw. Just intrigued to see if anyone else thinks the same.
what a nice posture
Bill Evans often played in that same posture.
🥰🥰🥰
❤️❤️❤️
Like Chopin Bercuese
Do people always make this much noise at these?
It is better to play your own than to overplay a genius. Is not it?
Who is to say which of anything is "better"? It's all just preferences from the random conditioning which comes at us as "life"...and creates individual reflections, none any better than another...
I’ve been playing this song for years, mostly as a meditation, and played it public a few times. I never transcribed it, but I studied it. I wouldn’t dream of learning to play it note for note as it’s not that kind of piece, and it’s unlikely that Evans ever intended that, or did that. I looked for another interpretation by him for a while in hopes getting an idea what if ANY of it was set. Long ago I gave up looking and just I settled on opening with the ostinato, then the RH "G-D" and then just going from there.
I just NOW found this from 1978: czcams.com/video/XDcFnV4kM-4/video.html And he doesn’t even do the G-D. And there it is: The ostinato is the only thing that’s set. Sometimes I take a nod from it’s re-interpretation as Flamenco Sketches and modulate it, and I almost always leave the pedal down for the entire piece and let the piano do it’s thing.
That being said, in the same way any piece of music is up to the listener or interpreter once the creator puts it out there (and so we’re free to completely reform it), learning the stunningly beautiful improvisation from 1958 and doing it as homage is also, perfectly legit and Ivanov does a lovely job. I can’t decide if his choice of thumbnail image was a nice touch or taking the homage too far! ;^)
So @stassav4, I know what you mean, but I certainly would not say it that way.
😕
별로네
insane
This guy should stick to classical music. He doesn't have a jazz bone in his entire body.
Beautiful!
Thank you!!
