@@normanred9212 shantaes still plenty sexual so i doubt 'wokeness' is at play here. Though this is still a stupid stupid change to a fun minigame.
It really is bothersome that they can’t have Shantae just dance. I understand why in platforming it was difficult, broke up the pace and all that, but this ‘hula dance’ is not the way to go.
With rhythm games being a bit more of a hit, they could do something like the original game’s mechanics.
You know, it's not just this tiki-style space invaders game with zero urgency or control over Shantae going back and forth on a horizontal plane at varying speeds while timing your shots to hit tiki masks swaying at a constant rate that has us wishing for dancer Shantae back. Anyone else notices that the initiation sequences to activate transformations also devolved from an intricate set of button presses that actually felt rewarding to just holding down a button and just make a selection while watching barely so much as a wiggle showing, then poof?
Yeah, honestly that is what I miss the most; part of my game time was spend on making coreografies without transform
I loved the dance mechanic in the first game. Sure, it was slow (and gamers are all about speed these days), but it helped to give the game its own identity.
To be honest, the dancing-to-transform of the first game is just too slow a process and too long a break from the action, which kinda works considering how slow the movement in the first game was, but doesn't apply to the modern games with their faster movement. I do wish they would make another proper dancing minigame though.

@@lautarogomez9711 It's basically a shooting minigame that doesn't have much to do with dancing.
But the real problem is that you can't control Shantae except for shooting, she goes too fast, and the targets move.
The controls are not good, and I think the hitboxes too, you have to play it to understand.
And to make it worse, getting the best prize means perfection, you can't miss any single target.

They streamline the transformations to buttons making the Gameplay overall faster, but the charm of being a belly dancer is basically dead. Ironically the entire story is about Shantae joining a dancing ceremony with other half genies.
I know it was really hard yo pull it off without missing it did took me quite some time to 100% the game

I wasn't the biggest fan of how the original sometimes just didn't register your inputs. Then comes the Seven Sirens Dance Mini game with both how they turn it into a pseudo space shooter as well. Worst part being that you need to basically not screw up even ONCE if you want that damn Heart Squid (Moreso, you basically gotta break all the Tikis in 2 Rounds or try again), which is even more infuriating because the Heart squid is LITERALLY OUT IN THE OPEN with No reason why I can't just grab it other than because "Screw you".

I really wish they would bring back all of Shantae's OG dance moves from the Gameboy Color era (2002). But, artists and developers these days gotta limit their creativity and kow-tow to snowflakes on -Twitter- X.
