  • The reality of living full time on the road is you will have a Vehicle breakdown. No matter what you are driving no matter how new or how old your Tow Vehicle is or what kind of RV you have. The truth about the RV Life is not IF, but when something breaks. The Full Time RV Life or living even Van Life is that something will break and cost money. It's always better to plan for it, than be surprised by it.

    There's always a silver lining. I was in the welding supply business for 30 years & often I would tell customers to check out JB Weld. Sometimes it can be a permanent fix & sometimes it's a temporary fix. The main thing is, you caught it before the engine lost all it's oil. Take care & good luck.

      Thanks Perry. Getting it fixed this week. JB definitely helped out. Was able to drive to the Mechanics. Not leaking hardly at all after putting it on. Already have the new oil pan. - Scott

    What a PITA!! With my former rig, I had so many nightmares occasions: 1) ALL of my rear lights went out while I was in VT (800mi from home); 2) an electrical relay went bad and the engine would turn off as I was driving down the interstate; 3) my van side door wouldn’t close, while I was parked in a Walmart parking lot after shopping for groceries; 4) my AC wouldn’t drain condensation, which backed up and flowed INTO the rig, instead of out of the rig. And there was more, but I just can’t. It was a nightmare. I sold it after spending a ton of money and the new owner is now loving it. I got a ntm rig that is much more reliable. A happy result all the way ‘round, except for all that money lost. Uugh. All the best and happy, swift resolution to you!

      Wow! We may have a winner! At least we haven’t been stranded anywhere except for Yellowstone when our Shift Tube broke. The plan is to sell it after we get it fixed...I think 🤔

    🙏🙏🙏🌹🌹🌹🙏🙏🙏 Thank you! And thank you for being real. There are podcasts and granted a lot of what they are saying is true - where - it's only a few dollars a month to live on the road, (And they get a lot of views); - and I have repeatedly posted comments - what happens when you break down.? 🌹
    🌹What about the costs of a motel room - if you don't know anyone. The repair costs. Obviously have to have a savings account. So yes, people need to understand the miracles, the wonderfulness, the financial - yes great savings, and also repair costs, etc. realities of The nomad life. Thank you again. 🙏🙏🌹🌹

      Thank you 🙏 We are one of those couples that do live this lifestyle alone. The struggles are real! But we always figure it out and move on with experiences that help us grow.

      @@ThisNomadicIdea Yes. And it is sacred that you have each other to support and ideas to bounce off of each other.. ☘️
      ☘️ From what I have seen and heard - the Nomadic Community is very very supportive and friendly. 🌹 It is just a reminder for those who are on their own - and are on a budget - to know the realities of the lifestyle. It is worse if they get out there and they are not prepared. ☘️🙏☘️
      ❄️🌹❄️ And that might not get a lot of views on certain podcasts. But the information needs to get out there. Yes, It is a wonderful opportunity and Great adventure that we all can have.❄️🌹❄️

    If your going to keep the van change the oil pan. Dont rely and trust jb weld especialy on rust

      @ThisNomadicIdea  Před 2 lety +1

      You are correct. Only used JB to get me to our Mechanic. Ordered a new pan with seal and dip stick ring. The sad part is the labor cost, not the parts cost.

      Yea, it’s not the engine but all the other parts. Ford had some real issues with design and parts back between 98-02. The good news is I’ll still get my money back when I sell it. (Soon)
