The 52 billion is deaths from diseases that CAN be spread by mosquitoes--not necessarily that each and every person who died of those diseases got it from a mosquito bite instead of say, directly from another infected person. If, for example, it was discovered that a handful of COVID-19 fatalities got it from a mosquito bite instead of from another human, then all COVID-19 deaths could be added to that total. Yes, that does mean that more than 3/4 of all lethal infections get counted as "potentially mosquito-borne".
